MediaSmart DVD player no longer works! Help

Good so now when I try to open the mediasmart DVD I get a message that appears and says "the program can't start because MSVCR71.dll is missing on your computer.  Try reinstalling the program to fix this problem. "How can I reinstall the program? And is this really the solution to this problem.

Hello

This assumes that you are running Windows 7.

Try the following to see if you can get MediaSmart DVD works - we can address other MediaSmart software later.

Download and install Revo Uninstaller from the link below.

http://www.revouninstaller.com/download-freeware-version.php

Run revo and use it to uninstall your HP MediaSmart DVD software.  Make a right click on the program icon you want to remove and select uninstall.  During the process, that you may be asked to remove the registry entries, simply select all and then click on remove.  Do the same for any left over files and folders.  Once the uninstall is complete, reboot the PC.

Then, download the latest installer for MediaSmart DVD on the link below and save it to your desktop.

FTP://ftp.HP.com/pub/SoftPaq/sp50501-51000/sp50935.exe

If you do not have an extraction utility installed, download and install 7-Zip.  Right click on the installation program you download, select Extract 7 - Zip, select the files, and then click Ok.  Open the newly extracted folder, open src and scroll down until you see the application setup ( 6th in the background with a size of 310 KB ).  This Application Configuration right click and select "Run as Administrator" to launch the installation.  Once the installation is complete, restart the computer and see if you can now read your Blu - ray discs.

Kind regards

  • Portege R500 - DVD player does not work

    Hello
I love my laptop Portege I bought this month of September. The only thing is that the DVD player is not working for some time.
-When I put a DVD or CD, I realize I can't freely turn the disc in the drive while it is still open. Strange, but I don't see anything blocking the rotation of the disk.
-The system does not recognize at all have a DVD player. Initially, it worked, I can't say exactly when it went wrong. I checked with Toshiba Assist: in the information panel, it shows no info on the DVD player, in diagnostic Panel, I have the opportunity to check the DVD but when the test system is just jump the operation all the time, indicating that the Player cannot be found.
-In the control panel I don't see no more among the hardvers
-For starting, the DVD is one last thing to check in my BIOS settings. But in fact when the start-up the laptop I can hear the sound of the reader looking for something inside, turning or trying to rotate the disc, but it seems always becomes stuck and starting takes like 5-7 minutes due to lengthy trials, get the DVD player work in vain.
-Now even when I put the energy setting to oriented perf, I no longer hear the system would look for DVD (setting the player gets off everything when using not saving)

Someone from Toshiba support could help me? Is it possible to check this problem with the remote connection to my laptop, or something? Or should I take it to the service? With this, I also have a little challenge: I bought my laptop in Hungary, but now I stay in Japan throughout the year. So I would need a station in Tokyo where they accept my European warranty. Could you please provide me with any help or ideas? If possible, direct mail also. Thanks in advance!

    > Could someone support for Toshiba to help me?
To do this, you will need to get in touch with the Toshiba ASP in your country.
Here in the forum you can get suggestions form common users because it s a user forum to ;)

    > Is it possible to check this problem with the remote connection to my laptop, or something?
I doubt that this is possible since this could be a hardware problem

    > Or should I take it to the service?
Maybe this would be the best

    > I need a station in Tokyo where they accept my European warranty. Could you please provide me with any help or ideas? If possible by direct mail also
On the page of Toshiba Europe, I was able to find an info on TOSHIBA EMEA LIMITED WARRANTY for NOTEBOOKS.
This warranty is applicable only in the EMEA region (Europe, Middle East and Africa) and can be executed in any
Countries the EMEA where Toshiba or its Service providers allowed offers warranty service terms and conditions provided for in the present
warranty. This warranty covers the costs of service parts and labor needed to restore your system to full operational status.

As you can see in the Japan is not covered by the EMEA region :( So I doubt that the warranty will cover the costs to the Japan.

  • Satellite A45-S250: how to use the recovery CD if the DVD player does not work

    Hi all
First of all, apologize for my English, I'm french :)

So my problem is that I would like to re - install everything on an A45-S250 using the recovery CD.
But the main problem is that the internal DVD player no longer exists.

I try plugging in an external DVD drive, but the laptop won't start on it.

I have seen that it can start with a disk, lan or SD card drive. But with opportunities of theses, how power reinstall everything include in the recovery CD?

I may have a usb floppy drive, so I'll be able to boot from a bootable disk. but then how to start the process of recovery CD?
I will prefer to use the recovery as a home standart WinXP CD, because I know that the OEM series will not work in an original version of Windows XP...

    Thanks for your help!

    Kubs

    Hello Kubs

I see only one solution: you have to somehow use external DVD player and make it visible to your laptop. I try didn t, but I guess you need to start your laptop using WXP startdisc and load the MS-DOS driver for external device.
If you will have success to access external hard drive I guess that you will be able to start the recovery procedure.

  • CD Player no longer works on my Satellite L

    Hello

MY CD Player no longer works, but then she recognized a disc that I inserted, but then stopped working again.

I deleted the high and low of Device Manager filters.
I also downloaded the driver for toshiba dvd ram and my cd drive then worked, but after that I closed the computer, even once it does not recognize disks in the drive.

Again, I downloaded the driver and then he acknowledged the disc I inserted in the drive.
However, now my computer won't recognize the drive even when I download the driver again.

Does anyone know why it works intermittently or have any ideas that might help.

    Thank you.

    Hello

Are you able to boot from the disks?
If Yes, then that would be the related issue means that it is not material
It means that your CD/DVD drive is still ok and would work

Try to boot from a diskette of starting as a Linux live CD or Windows PE

The case it look like a hardware problem but before you buy a new CD/DVD drive, I recommend trying to reinstall the operating system and to test the STRANGE using own BONE.

  • On Qosmio G20 DVD player does not work

On my laptop dvd player does not work perfectly.
I can watch DVDs and CDs, but I can't burn CDs or DVDs at all.

This laptop is a former view model and think that when I bought the store I bought it since deleted most of the information

    Help, please

    Thank you

    Hello

There are two possible reasons why you are not able to copy anything to the CD or DVD.

First, it may be possible that the drives used are not entirely compatible.
In such cases, it s always advisable to test different CD and DVD from different manufacturers.

Secondly, the issue could be related to a defective laser lens; in many cases, this can happen because of a physical constraint. If the laser lens can not calibrate in a good position, then the player will not be able to handle the inserted discs.
This could be the worst case, because this issue is not repairable. Just a STRANGE replacement could help.

  • DVD drive no longer works on the Satellite X 200

    Hello

Although my laptop X 200-191 is just 3 weeks, this afternoon the DVD player suddenly stopped working. When I insert a dvd, the drive makes sounds like it will play the DVD, then stops and nothing more happens. When I click on the DVD drive in 'my computer' section, the Player opens and asks you a DVD... It will not play music cd's.

I just installed a new (HD) driver for the DVD drive on the toshiba site, which should be compatible. I also tried to reinstall the previous driver, but the problem persists. I can't use the CD recovery either, for the reader DVD does not have to start the recovery cd...

    Can anyone help?

    Thanks in advance,

  • What can I do this message-"Toshiba DVD Player has stopped working"

    Hello

My DVD drive used for good work... and then I installed iTunes.
He then worked for a while, but only by using "Run as Administrator".

After a few weeks I started getting the message "Toshiba DVD Player has stopped working".

I uninstalled iTunes - and uninstalled and then re-installed DVD player - but it still doesn't work!
    Any solution please?

Thanks in advance for your help.

    Ms. Q_reeus

My solution is to remove a Toshiba DVD drive and install VLC player. You can get it for free.
It can play all video formats, and you don't need additional codecs.

  • Satellite P25-S520 - DVD player does not work properly

Difficulty of DVD player or buy the external drive

My DVD player does not work properly, in fact it can never work properly. Recently, I tried to back up my PC on a DVD using Norton 360. Norton did not recognize that the DVD was present. Then I tried to write a text file on a DVD and was a failure. DVD + R and DVD-R media were found to be (Maxwell 16 X).

I could have probably lived with this however, I received a copy of Dragon NaturallySpeaking version 10 on a CD and my Toshiba would not recognize it. I tried the CD in my laptop nearby and it was recognized.

An attempt to update the driver has also fails.

I was able to copy a CD of music last night so that at least works properly.

Does anyone know how can I fix? The important part is to be able to load my new program.

Research on some forums I found that other people have had problems with the Pioneer drive. If the drive can't be fixed, I'm not adverse to buying an external DVD drive. Unfortunately, where I live there is no brick and mortar stores selling external drives and I prefer to avoid the hassle of getting a drive online and discovering that it does not work with my Toshiba. Can someone suggest an external USB drive that will read and write CD and DVD and is certain to be compatible with my Toshiba?

    Thanks for any help,

Any external USB CD/DVD drive will be compatible with your laptop.

However, you won't be able to boot from CD (run recovery for example) If you are using an external drive.

So, your best option would be to replace the internal drive with a Toshiba drive designed for the laptop. Call an ASP and request a quote.
