MediaSmart server EX490 HP

It seems that the network adapter has failed in the MediaSmart server.  I tried to connect to the server on the network and using a crossover, cable and the connection keeps linking, drop, then connection then, abandoned ad-nauseam.

  • LX195 MediaSmart Server: How to uninstall Home Server?

    Greetings,

I tried to ask in the forum Microsoft.

I'm trying to uninstall Windows Home Server. I have already uninstall the connector and software, however, I just noticed a 20 GB on my laptop partition (drive D called "RECOVERY".) It contains a folder named "Windows Home Server drivers for restoring" and a readme.txt file. How can I delete the partition?

    Thank you

    Shane.

  • Ex487 MediaSmart Server - backup server

I have a MediaSmart Server Ex487.  I have it set to save my home computers and that works very well.  However, I would also like to back up the server, but would like to make him a portable eSata disk or internal hard drive.  However, the only option that I can find is the backup online Amazon.  The instructions seem to say to go to the 'Computers & Backup' tab and choose where you want to save the server from there, but there is no option that I can see for this.  The literature I've read before that I bought this unit said that I could back up the server to an internal hard drive or eSata.

Has anyone been able to back up the server itself on an eSata drive or an internal hard drive?

    Thank you.

This has been fixed, the implementation of the backup disc did not correctly.  Drop the drive and add it again as a backup disk (and making sure that it worked this time!) did the trick.

  • I have a HP mediasmart server LX195. I want to do a Factory reset on this server. I don't have the original software CD.

I have a HP mediasmart server LX195.   I want to do a Factory reset on this server.   Factory reset, I mean completely wiping the drive clean and reinstalling the software, like the LX195 server was brand new.   I don't have the original software CD.  Now, before you do a factory reset, I would need to back up my data.   I have a few questions.

    1. I don't have the original software CD LX195 where can I order the original game CD?

    2. is there a preparation I need to do in addition to save my data before I perform a complete reinstallation?

    3. What are the problems, if any, will I have to run by doing a complete reinstall the server LX195?

    Thank you.

  • Connection of printers to the MediaSmart Server

I just bought and installed a MediaSmart Server.  Overall, it was easy to set up so that it can be seen by other machines on the network.  But how would connect you a printer so that it can be used by all those who have access to the same network?  I don't see anything about network printing in any of the documents.  How do you define a printer mediasmart?

It is not officially supported, but it can be done.  You must use the remote desktop connection tool to enter the server (not the connection Console Windows it comes with).  Once you are remote in, you install the driver (with XP drivers) as any other Windows operating system.  Don't share out during the game.  Set up as a printer dedicated and once installed, not the configuration of additional, duplexeurs trays, paper put it, etc.  Then he split and leave the remote session.  Now, on the computers in the House, you should be able to go in network neighborhood, navigate to the server and you will see the printer.  Right-click on it, and you can install it on the computer at home.

Let me know if you need more detailed instructions.

  • Cannot install itunes on HP MediaSmart Server EX485

I am trying to install itunes on EX485 MediaSmart server but running in a "error message not enough permissions." I downloaded the installation on the desktop file and tries to install when you connect to the server using Remote Desktop Connection (RDC).

I am connected with a user in the Administrators group, so I am confused how I do not have enough permissions.

    Does anyone have a suggestion?

I found the solution. Internet Explorer has restricted installation of iTunes. The solution was:

    1. Open Control Panel
    2. Go to add or remove programs
    3. Go to add/remove window components
    4. Clear Internet Explorer Enhanced Security Configuration check box
    5. Click next to apply the change
    6. Restart the server
    7. Install iTunes

Is recommended after installing go back and turning security on.

  • MediaSmart Server and iTunes

I have the MediaSmart Ex487 and try to use the "iTunes" which is built in server.  The server has acknowledged and met all my iTunes music and my workstation iTunes find the shared files iTunes MediaSmart.  I can play music under the shared server, but can not create custom playlists.  If I 'add files' to my library in the MediaSmart shared music folder, I can then create playlists, but when I add the files, it creates lists duplicate in my library - instead of 2 500 songs, I gives me 5,000, each duplicate, but with different "added dates.

Has anyone experienced this and found a solution?

    Mike

Well, I understood my question and feel just a little ridiculous.  When MediaSmart swept my computer for music, he swept the playlists in the music folder. So when I got to the folder "music" add to my library, he brought to all the files of music, but also as all the music associated with selections.  It was a bit of pain of having to work around this problem, but my library now seems good.

  • HP MediaSmart Server EX485 - TwonkyMedia Server is currently disabled

I restart the EX485 and the TwonkyMedia Server tries to start sharing.   After a few seconds, I see a message that says "server is currently disabled.  Then I RDP in the machine and I see an error message that says: "TwonkyMediaServer.exe has encountered a problem and had to close.  Because I click on the error message, I see the following.

    The error signature:

    szAppName: TwonkyMediaServer.exe szAppVer: 0.0.0.0

    szModName: TwonkyMediaServer.exe szModVer: 0.0.0.0 offset: 0006ec1c

The following files will be included in the error report:

    C:\DOCUME~1\ADMINI~1\Locals~1\Temp\2\WERc642.dir00\TwonkyMediaServer.exe.mdmp

    C:\DOCUME~1\ADMINI~1\Locals~1\Temp\2\WERc642.dir00\appcompat.txt

I don't see an option to join the files of error in this post, but I would send them to anyone who is willing to help me.

    Thanks in advance!

Solved!  Well, it's a way to fix...

    1. remove all media in my shared folders.

2 remove all under the directory "D:\folders\{8BA2C80A-EBCE-4EB7-9688-34B7CA729661}\twonkymedia.db\".  NOTE: I didn't delete the directory, just files and subdirectories under it.

3 copied a few tests of media back to the correct shared folder.

    4. RDP to the server and start Twonky services then disconnect.

    5. connect to the server console and then have Twonky rebuild the database.

So far, I only put my MP3 in the shared folder to perform the reconstruction of 'test '.  Not sure if the MP4 are causing the problem or not.  I'll post again once I readd and rebuild the Twonky database.

  • HP Mediasmart Server and Mac TimeVault - need help with the HUGE mistake!

    Hello

I found this note in the help file:

«The backup file will be located at--------\Mac\Backup.»  The file name is based on the serial number of the Mac system and cannot be changed. Do not manually delete or rename this file.

BUT, alas, I found it too late

I had just deleted the MAC of the server file to a new, larger

    Mea culpa

It seems that the space allocated for the backup of Mac (600 MB) in the old file, is STILL assigned, if the file has been deleted. And since I greeted the deduplication of files, a serious part of my total serverspace/3 GB is now available to me. This leaves less free space I need for backup.

    How do I fix this?

Can someone point me in the right direction please?

    Hi Geezer27,

I have a few 'good' and 'not so good' news

I don't know much about these servers, so I asked someone who does and here's what I found:

    The "good" News:

Folder duplication does not overlap the Mac backup file, then the 600 MB does not have 1200 MB on the server.

The new 'not very good ':

It is not an easy way to solve this problem. The best option is to try to identify what hard physical-disk backup Mac file was located and then through the console of the server, use the function "Remove drive" to remove this disk server, then once it has been deleted through the very function of the console, use the "Add drive" to add this drive. What it will do is reformat this player to a quick format and who "should" reset Mac backup file space that has been reserved. If this does not work, you will need to take this same drive to a PC and reformat the hard drive via a PC interface.

    I hope this helps.

  • Recovering Server HP MediaSmart EX470 and first connector install with Windows 7 Client?

Hi, I just recovered my HP MediaSmart Server EX470 to him, State of origin using the 'server recovery disc"and tried to install the client on my first computer that is running Windows 7.  Of course the MediaSmart software date new Windows 7 and comes back with a message "Cannot be installed on this operating system".  I know there was a HP MediaSmart update to deal with Windows 7 but I don't know how to get on the server when I can not connect...  I tried the DRC in the server and I guess that the name of user and password admin is not yet activated...  Two questions: -.

How can I get the software MediaSmart Windows 7 installed on my server or Client from here?

Can I enter the server in any other way?

I checked the forums, but couldn't find any solution, thank you in advance, Peter

Hi, after a bit of thought I had an idea if I post this in case anyone else needs the answer!  I have Windows 7 Ultimate, I was able to download and install Windows XP Mode at http://www.microsoft.com/windows/virtual-pc/download.aspx.

Step 1: Download Windows XP Mode
Step 2: Download Windows Virtual PC
Step 3: update Windows XP Mode

Then you can run the connector from Windows XP and download the update for Windows 7 for Smart Media and Windows Home Server!  Best regards, Peter

  • What to do when whs drive fails - HP Media Smart Server

I have WHS on HP MediaSMart Server, model low range, but with HD 3. The first two are fine, but the 3rd drive has failed. I have the duplication on all my folders (that I care). I got messages saying "State of storage: WDC xxxxxx SCSI Disk device failed." Ensure that it is connected. If this problem persists, add a new HD and then remove the failed drive from your storage server using the console".  There are a few other messages, all backup service works not with the DB Backup errors, but those that are the result of HD failure.
So, my question is since I duplication, do - what I need to do to fix this? Can I just remove the HD failed, and because the overlap is enabled, WHS will repair itself and have my files back? Or do I need to have a new drive to make it work? Or what?
    Thank you

  • Windows Home Server + Config IP/LAN WRT54G problems

    Hello

I tried to fix this for days now, and I feel more I read on questions from other people who appear to be similar (at the beginning), I realize that I don't know even where to start... [: Confused:]

    What I know:

I can't access my Windows Home Server from outside my home network. Whenever I have try and enter the domain name, setting Page of the WRT54G (identical to display when you enter http://192.168.1.1. inside my network) is displayed. Seems I found a way to configure my router remotely - but it's really not what I want... I rather like to access my home server, but it does not work. My LAN, I don't have a problem to connect to my server via remote desktop, but not from outside.

I'm sure it's a (simple?) Number IP/LAN, but I just don't know how to solve. I know that something is obviously wrong with the IP addresses, but I don't know which ones to change without messing up my network, server, router etc...

    My presentation of Setup/settings:

1.) WRT54G (v6) installed with latest firmware. Active DHCP.

2.) HP MediaSmart Server (running Windows Home Server 2003) is configured with a static IP address > TZO domain name.

    3.) WRT54G Port Forwarding: all need ports (80, 443, 444, 4125, 3389) passed on to the Home Server (192.168.1.222)

What strikes me (as shown in the tab "Status" of WRT54G):

The IP address of the router is the same as my domain TZO address... is that supposed to be like that? -Need help, Pleaseeeeee!

Q1: How can I access my home server from outside my network without pulling up the configuration of my router settings?

Q1: which of my IP addresses & settings need to be changed... and where?

Any help is appreciated...  Many thanks in advance!

    Armin

Simply turn off remote access of configuration on the router or change the port that it sits on.

The problem is that the web INTERFACE of configuration for the wrt54g is on port 80, so when you try to access port 80 (internet) outside it goes directly to the configuration UI instead of the server on port 80.

Don't ask me where it is that I do not run firmware factory on wrt54g nmy.

    Concerning

    Fred
