• Satellite Pro M70: DDR2 memory matching question

  I have a Satellite Pro M70 (model PSM76E-00500KEN) with 512 MB of RAM in a housing and want to upgrade to 1 GB or more. I plan to put a 1 GB module in the slot to spare, but reading that there is sometimes a performance advantage of the installation of modules of DDR2 in pairs. Can someone tell me if there is any advantage to have the correspondence of the modules into the two slots of the Satellite Pro M70? Or, in other words, is there any reason not to run 1 GB in a slot and 512 MB in the other?

  Dual channel DDR involves the use of memory modules DDR 2 to double bandwidth memory. The memory modules DDR themselves are no different. The only requirement is that the controller memory on the motherboard supports this interface dual channel.

  The specifications for an HP Pavilion Notebook ZV5160US (DZ330U) available on HP web site indicates the allocation of eligible as maximum RAM (1x256M, 1x1GB). In the meantime, Crucial downloadable memory scan suggests that 2x1GB is a legitimate laptop SODIMM (2) configuration. Who should I believe; and, in addition, what truth is there for some versions of Windows only benefiting from extra RAM so memory "match" the size and configuration?   I did not hold much hope of much attention to issues related to this one laptop dated - but I am pleasantly surprised to find that someone was interested to address an issue that may find application even in conjunction with the latest computer models.

  Given your answer, several nuggets of info available on the web (and on the web site of HP) and information from scan of Crucial memory, I will probably go with modules of memory of 1 GB. For sure, current applications can use (and most certainly end up using) all the RAM, you can collect!

• Question about bookmarking

  I recently got a Captivate 3 project with an outside provider. As I have a test of the project through our LMS, I noticed that the "bookmarking" is inconsistent. It seems to work for some specific slides but not others in the project.
  
  What could cause this? I thought bookmarking was more or less a global setting, you can have it for all the slides in the project, or any of the slides (never send interrupt data).

  I think remember me reading in these forums LMS bookmarking is available on the slides that contain an interaction with the reporting option is enabled.

  If Yes, maybe you need to enable communication, but uncheck report responses for interactive objects on your slides problematic.

  It will be fine as long as they are installed in pairs (and, as long as your model can handle 8 GB modules). Just install them in the empty slots. Working with word documents or online will be not much faster - you will notice the difference in speed apps to respond, with graphic design and video editing, etc or game play. The new OS versions like more RAM, so you can not go wrong there.

  I am writing to see if there is a way to customize the memory game, interaction of training.  Know, I would like to be able to provide feedback to the user when a match is found.

  So:

  • 1 card reversed
  • the 2nd card is a game
  • display a text box to the user of the comments on the match
  • Click on the button continue with the game.

  Is it possible to customize the interaction of training to do this, or that I have to build something like Lilybiri very cool game of Concentration of Custom?

  I must say I'm quite new to advanced Actions and I am running 9.0 Captivate.

  Hi Leigh,

  Thanks for your comment on my old blog. Play training interactions are customizable, but only in their design. Other interactions of training have still less possibilitiy of customization. Provide feedback to a game is not included, have to disappoint you.

  Creation of such a game with Captivate 9 would be much easier than with older versions for which I wrote the blog post. This kind of 'Advanced' use of actions in Captivate will certainly appear in the cookbook for the actions that I am writing right now. It's supposed to be a warning, first of all try to get out to cling to variables and advances of shared actions. Don't forget the new multistate objects! Adds other measures that this allows a lot more Captivate with less time developing.

• Tecra M9 - does not start after memory upgrade from 1 GB to 3 GB

  I am trying to upgrade my M9 memory with little success. I bought a 2 GB module which is the same existing brand and spec to the 1 GB module, but the PC will not start no matter what options I try. So far I have tried:

  * Addition of 2 GB for the accommodation of extension from below (3 GB total)
  * Withdrawal of module 1 GB under the keyboard and its replacement by the 2 GB module

  None of these options work. The PC gives no beeps or indications that there is a problem, the led lights on the way to the top, the drive led flashes and then it goes into a wait state. Nothing happens.

  For the record, I bought initially upgraded memory that wasn't an exact match and I am now on my 3rd module suspecting a memory compatibility to be the issue. This current 2 GB module seems to fully match the 1 GB as well as being twice the size. It is:

  HYNIX 2GB 2Rx8 PC2 - 5300 s-555-12

  I am running Windows XP SP3

  The TECRA is a PTM91A Intel Duo T700 CPU 1.80 GHz

  Any help would be appreciated

  To me it sounds like the new memory module is not functional or not compatible with the laptop. Otherwise the cell would start without any problem.

  If you bought the memory module in a store, you have to take it back and ask for a replacement.

  I n t have experience with Hynix memory modules. For the upgrade of my laptop, I used Kingston memory and it worked without any problem

  On a side note, the audit of the DirectX Diagnostic tool, I have the version of directx is displayed as version 11. So I thought that the problem was with the displayed information. But even on the Diagnostic tool gives me the same information.

  This is controlled automatically by the graphics driver.
  If the application that is running would require more RAM (IE game), the graphics card would control this value and I would add some of the memory to the memory of the graphics card.

  You can add memory with 1 GB PC2-5300.

  If you want to have matched pairs for best performance. Use this guide how to access memory Ram. It is very easy self-confidence. After that check number producer and s/n and buy the same model.

  There is a program called Everest Lavalys product that shows all the settings of all devices. Download you it here. I do not remember there at - it a chance to check with the trial version of Ram settings but you can give it a try.

  Install and run it.

• Satellite Pro A10 - question memory & overall sluggishness

  1. I have an A10 (XP / IT with a Celeron 2.2GHz processor & 256 MB installed RAM) that runs now very slowly - extremely laborious. Do all the usual things (defragmented, spyware scanning, virus scanned, registry cleaned with a utility, etc.). Is that need more RAM? Or is there another solution to try first and if additional would be a good idea...

  I don't know what makes your computer to run very slowly. If it is software related, my only other idea is to reinstall the whole system.

  About RAM: Upgrade memory will definitely increase the speed of your machine, and I think that, as you have only 256 MB, it would be a good idea.
  When upgrading you must use memory good type. I think you need PC2100 DDR - RAM. You can combine the modules you want up to a maximum of 1024 MB.

  When I sync the iPhone in iTunes, iThunes indicate that I'm 5.35 GB of memory left, but on the iPhone it says I have only 3.7 GB left. Why this difference?

  and I assume that all users can match only in English.

  Now to your question:
  The Satellite 2450-SP295 is not known to me, but I found some info on the Satellite 2450 - S203.
  Both units show very similar and should have the locations of memory under the keyboard.

  If you want to upgrade the memory you have first of all remove the keyboard.
  The keyboard is fixed by 2 screws that are placed under the thin cover above the keyboard.
