message "Could not reconnect all network drives" is an error
I am using windows 7 Home premium, with a small local LAN supporting 3 PC. There are 2 stores connected to the network on the LAN for backup (a device) and multimedia data archives (the other device).
Lately at the start, I always get the message "cannot re - connect all network drives", but explore can access the network drive and view the contents of files on this subject. the following image illustrates this case:
Note see the sharing Y: mapped drive that is not connected with a big red X, even though I can access the contents of the folder of this one (pictured above).
So next, I selected Y: and properties and got the following picture for the reader (bomb box properties coming to slightly overlap the content of the file):
Now it is said nothing in the drive capacity which should contribute to this (25% of space), but pointed out that only the action get properties has managed to change the y to so-called connection not connected (but still available) by a big X red, supposed to be connected, with a green sticker on the drive icon shows now.
These 2 images were taken less than 3 minutes apart - the timer it took to snapshot screen not connected, crop the image to remove the spaces empty and save them, and then get the properties one and do the same thing.
The question is - why windows do this? It is obviously not something wrong with the devices, and even when it allegedly is 'not connected' the drive mapped a share can still provide content of records of levels 2 and 3 to the bottom of the tree.

Could not reconnect all network drives
My laptop is getting the message "Could not reconnect all network drives", at startup. I'm running Windows XP, service pack 3. I have a 'Z' allocated network drive, which is marked 'memory_card '.
Must this drive be connected?
If so, what are the steps.
When I try to open this network drive, I get the message "an error has occurred during reconnection 'Z' (: to \\HP(serial number) \memory_card'."
Thank you
All of this makes sense now.
Thanks for your help and happy new year!

I can't find a driver for a Proliant Server network:
PCI\VEN_14E & DEV_165F & SUBSYS_2133103C & REV_00
Hello:
You are missing a character description of the seller.
However, my guess is that you need the driver there is the Broadcom NetXtreme Gigabit Ethernet card which has an ID PCI\VEN_14E4 & DEV_165F.
If HP does not list the driver on the support page for your particular model server, here is the link to the generic drivers of the BCM for this ethernet model.
The first or the second pilot is probably one you need (32 or 64 bit depending on the case).
http://www.Broadcom.com/support/Ethernet-NIC-NetXtreme-i-server
You will need to manually install the driver, because I do not think that these are executable files.

PC is several years old running Windows XP, but was working OK yesterday. This morning could not get Firefox at startup, only the error message "cannot load the XPCOM.
Do a clean reinstall, delete the program folder before Firefox to (re) install a new copy of the current version of Firefox.
Download a new copy of Firefox and save the file to the desktop.
https://www.Mozilla.org/en-us/Firefox/new/
Uninstall your current version of Firefox, for cleaning of the Windows registry and the settings in the security software.
DO NOT remove personal data when you uninstall your current Firefox version, because all profile folders will be removed and you lose personal data like bookmarks and passwords from profiles of other Firefox versions.
It is important to delete the Firefox program folder to remove all the files and make sure that there are no problems with files that were leftover after uninstalling. http://kb.mozillazine.org/Uninstalling_Firefox
Your bookmarks and other personal data are stored in the Firefox profile folder and will not be affected by a uninstall and (re) install, but make sure that 'delete personal data' is NOT selected when you uninstall Firefox.
If you keep problems also create a new profile.

"Setup could not detect all the printers.
I've recently set up a new computer and the network. The host computer is running Vista. I have connected a Deskjet 6940 via an ethernet cable into the Linksys router and can print from the host computer.
I have a laptop which is under XP Pro, and who has a connection with the network. I downloaded the driver from HP on the laptop to try to connect with the 6940, but during the install process, I get the message "Printer not found - Setup could not detect all the printers on the network."
Firewalls on both computers is disabled.
When I type the IP address in the address of the host computer or on the portable bar, I page of the printer, including its SSID.
I tried to type the IP address in the field suitable for the installation of HP on the portable routine, however and always got the "printer not found."
Ideas? TIA
The Deskjet 6940 being on the network, we will try to add the printer manually. Here is the sequence to XP:
- Click on the button 'Start'--> Printers and fax machines.
- Under print jobs, click on "Add Printer".
- Click 'Next' in the Add Printer Wizard window.
- Select " printer local to this computer. Deselect "automatically detect and install my Plug and play printer." Click "next".
- Under Select a printer Port option, select "Create a new port" and choose "Standard TCP/IP Port" and click "Next".
- In the "Welcome to the Add Standard TCP/IP printer port Wizard" make sure that the printer is turned on and connected to the same network that your computer is connected to. click on the button "next".
- Under "Add Standard TCP/IP printer Port", enter the host name of the printer . You can also use the IP address of the printer if it is static. Click 'Next' and then click 'Finish '.
- Now, select HP in the manufacturers list, select your printer from the printer model list and click the button "next".
- If you can't find your printer, you will need to find the installation CD and use the 'Disc' option to select one of the files hp*.ini. You can also select another model of the same type HP printer.
- Add the name of print spooler and click on "next".

having a problem installing drivers for a new Epson printer scanner all in a WF-2530 on my desktop using windows vista
error message "could not launch the required program during installation, check the installation disc, then re-run the installer.
I managed to install the software on my laptop using windows 7.
spending some time with epson tech dept, after several attempts to solve the problem, they advised that it was a problem with the microsoft software.
have tried to install it on the internet from the site of epson, but same error
any help would be greatly appreciated
< have="" tried="" installing="" over="" internet="" from="" epson="" website="" but="" same="">
Do you mean that you have downloaded the Epson driver?Try using the wizard adding printer in the Control Panel, printers. In the wizard, select EPSON under manufacturer. If you don't see your printer in the list, click the Windows Update button. It will take several minutes (about 20) be patient, Windows updates the list. You should see a hard drive activity during the update.
If that wouldn't work, try to run the System File Checker:
Use the System File Checker tool to troubleshoot missing or corrupted on Windows Vista or Windows 7 system files

Error 1606: 'could not access location network & AppData%.
Please help with Error 1606, "could not access location network & APPDATA%\.» Can someone please provide a fix?
This problem occurs because there is incorrect entries in the Shell folder of the user who is logged on to Microsoft Windows. When Windows Installer goes to the sale of Shell folder of the user who is logged on to the computer, Windows Installer cannot locate the correct entry. The solution is inhttp://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx/kb/886549.
The steps to correct this problem involve editing the Windows registry. Change the settings of the REGISTRY can cause serious problems that may prevent your computer from starting properly. Microsoft cannot guarantee that problems resulting from the REGISTRY settings configuration can be solved. Changes to these settings are at your own risk. I suggest that you first back up your registry as follows: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows-vista/Back-up-the-registry.
Here are the steps to fix it.
1. click on start, run, typeregedit in the Open box, and then click OK.
2. look for the following registry key:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\User Shell dossiers\
3 remove the entries that show the path that is listed in the error message.
886549 KBhttp://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx/kb/886549: Regedit open again. In the left pane, click User Shell Folders, point tonew, click expandable string value, type the value name that you want to restore (AppData) and then press ENTER. Right click on this value, clickchange, type the value in the value data for the value name box, and then clickOK. The value data must be: % USERPROFILE%\AppData\Roaming.
Step 8 KB 886549 suggests that you also check the values in HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\User Shell Folders. However, by fixing my problem, I had not to change values in the registry key. If this does not work, follow ALL the steps in the referenced article.
