I have a message that says Microsoft Windows Error Reporting: upgrade your display adapter graphics card does not support DirectX 9.0 or newer. My screen blanks outs initermittently and icons on the desktop are very grainy? all patches, easy?
Perform the steps in the article and see if the problem persists
Hope that helps.
What does that mean? -This problem occurred because your graphics card does not support the required version of DirectX. This version of Windows requires a DirectX 9.0 compatible video card or newer.
I tried viewing a presentation power point and got to page 2 and my computer crashed. Thought on... what he did previously trying to display a PPP file, but I thought that it was not my computer to the actual file. now I have my doubts and also this time an error message came that said... This problem occurred because your graphics card does not support the required version of DirectX. This version of Windows requires a DirectX 9.0 compatible video card or newer. can someone tell me what I should do next?
You left out which version of DirectX has been shown.
As far as I know, your Intel 945GM should support DirectX 9 and because you have XP sp3, you must have at least DirectX 9 installed.
I met the following, but it shouldn't apply to Powerpoint:
Some such as the Intel 945 GM Intel video cards have a design limitation which may cause problems when you try to run the Source Engine games. 3D graphics kernel does not support transformation of material, light and the vertex shader to similar technologies, which is an important part of the pipeline of 3D acceleration. Instead, this functionality is emulated in software that can reduce the compatibility and performance with 3D games.
I don't have a solution for you (assuming that DXDIAG, in fact, reports to have DirectX 9 or higher). You can see if you install a new driver support, but if it were me, I would be first contact Acer technical support or ask your question in another forum as one of the following conditions:
Intel graphics Forum: http://communities.intel.com/community/tech/graphics
Forum PowerPoint: http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/office/forum/powerpoint (select the corresponding forum for your version of Powerpoint). Include the results of DxDiag, including the version of DirectX. If there is something unusual about the image that causes the crash, include this info as well.
Normally, for notebook/laptop computer, it is better to get the drivers of the mfr of computer rather than the manufacturer of the device.
Acer drivers for your computer are here: http://support.acer.com/us/en/product/default.aspx?tab=1&modelId=535 (you want the Intel VGA for XP driver)
Intel has a newer driver: http://downloadcenter.intel.com/SearchResult.aspx?lang=eng&ProductFamily=Internet+Devices&ProductLine=Netbooks&ProductProduct=Mobile+Intel%C2%AE+945GM+Express+Chipset+Family
It's the main Intel support page: http://www.intel.com/p/en_US/support/highlights/graphics/945gm
Original title: I am considering upgrading to vista but my graphics card doesn't support aero at the moment
could I still switching from xp pro to vista, the Counselor said my computer could run vista but aero did not support my card I want to run aero or is it just an optional thing I'm trying to understand this because I know service ends for xp and advice would be helpful thanks
Hi clay I Denny,
Thanks for coming back.
If you want to get the Windows Aero feature, and then upgrade you to a graphics card that supports this feature.
The HP system you use include Intel Extreme Graphics Driver.
Hope the helps of information.
If you need assistance in the future to solve all related Windows issue, post your request in this forum and we will be happy to help you.
today I received the message telling me (after that I played a few hours) that my pc has problems of performance due to the Aero and it offers me to activate Windows Basic.
I have this card (Nvidia GTX 750 Ti) for 2 months now and it never gave me problems so I'm wandering if it could be a hardware problem or just windows that ran a test on the graphics card all the 'X' days for the Aero compatibility.
I ran the fix tool and it said that my GPU is not compatible with Aero (never had problems of performance in games activities or other).
So I ask: is this a real problem? Can I ignore it and run Aero or it will cause physical problems in the future? Can it be a hardware failure or something similar?
The card should manage easily Aero and its effects. Go to this site where you can download and run the latest drivers...
The message should go away... :-)
My driver software is the latest version for my computer. The game keeps giving me this error message too. The Sims game that I didn't say not what are its requirements, but it is a very old game. 2003 is the year of the games. I tried to lower the resolution of my screen to the lowest setting and that did not help. Other options to try to make it work?
Separated from -.
You can try to install in compatibility mode and see if this will help; about the only other thing is you go on the game manufacturer and see if they have nothing else, you can try. It's perhaps the game just won't work in windows 8. Hope this helps and if you need another post to help and we will be happy to help you.

About 1 week ago my aero wasn't on when I started my pc. When I tried to turn on I couldn't, could not choose aero theme and the built-in Troubleshooter could not find fault. So I tried the fixit windows application and it says that my graphics card does not support aero. I find it very strange because it worked the day before and then suddenly stopped. Tried reinstalling the drivers but it still does not work. I have a card ATI Radeon HD 5570. Help, please! :)
If you have updated your Windows then uninstall the update of platform for Windows 7 (KB2670838) and your problem should be solved. Before I updated my Windows this month I just checked if Microsoft still offer this update. This is in the optional list. I installed so I thought to manually upgrade to IE10 because he wasn't in the IE9 update list. So I did manually and after that check updates again and to my surprise this update has disappeared completely. I have an old PC as well, and after installing all the updates I still have no problems so far. I recommend that you upgrade to IE10 after uninstalling this update (if you updated with that and faced the problem) to get rid of the update forever. But do it at your own risk, because I never updated my machine with this defective update and see if that caused any problems with my machine.
Original title: Windows Xp graphics Shader model 2.We receive a message that says "device 0 graphics card does not support at least shader model 2. Please update your map"for a new pc game SIMs3... can you help me with this, please. We have downloaded the version lasted Grphics Intel for Windows; Where map video to update / upgrade? Thank you for your time.
What is the model of the graphics card?
To play SIM 3, the graphic card must meet the following requirements:
DirectX 9 compatible .0c card with 128 MB RAM (NVIDIA FX 5900/ATI 9500 or better) and support for Pixel Shader 2.0.
You can contact Intel support to check if your graphics card supports the above features.
Hope the helps of information. Please post back and we do know.

I just bought FSX Gold and I have installed two of them, but when I click to open it it says "the graphics card does not meet the minimum requirements for the support of shader. This product requires a geForce3/Radeon8500 class or a better graphics card. Flight Simulator will now quit. "I went to support to see what happened and he said the need Shader 1.1 or later so I checked my Shader and he said he was Shader 2.0. you guys can tell me what's wrong.

I just did a clean install of windows 7 and it seems that my graphics card does not work. It is not in the Device Manager and my screen will appear swollen and I can't solve this with screen resolution that I only have 2 options. I have a laptop Asus K52J with a Radeon Graphics HD637OM card. Windows 7 Home premium with service pack 1. Was working fine until I removed the original windows 7. I tried to download the Radeon drivers, but they come with a compalibility problem.
Go here http://www.asus.com/Notebooks/Versatile_Performance/K52JE/#download select your OS, expand the section VGA. Download and install the ATI graphics driver. Most laptop video drivers from the laptop manufacturer and not the video to a chip.
While you're there, you might as well download and install all the other drivers that are not up-to-date.
I have a built in microphone and it can clearly hear me on Skype. Also, in Control Panel, "Set up a microphone" I read the text «Peter dictates to his computer...» "the tapeworm down meets my speech and volume, so clearly that my mike works. However, in the next screen, I get "the computer didn't hear anything like that".
Hi David Loxley,.
I suggest you follow the provided article and check if it helps.

I have Pavilion 1062er laptop with ATI 7670 M and Intel 4000 m6.
I put 'high performance' in the ati Control Panel for all applications updated to latest drivers and BIOS. All games show that they use the video card intel, in dxdiag video intel only is also displayed.
There is no "switchable graphics - fixed" option in the bios.
If your bios does not support "Fixed Graphics" then you need to clean your drivers and install unofficial.
There is no official driver able to work correctly with the switchable graphics.
