Message "Not responding" when recording in CS5
Today, it is the first time that I had the chance to get out my new illustrator CS5 for a drive and have found that the more often than otherwise, when I save the file, I'm working on I get the error message "Not responding" appear. My system is a brand new Dell quad core, Q955-@ 2.83GHz with 8 GB RAM running Win7 64 bit.
The files that I use are located on a network drive, and I wonder if this may be the problem. If I let it go for a minute or two that he corrected himself, but I find it a bit odd, given the software and materials, that I am running.
No idea where to start?
Given that disconnect him persistent mapped network drive, my problem went away. So far so good.
To clarify my question, I saw intermittently a message "Not responding" in the title bar of Adobe Illustrator CS5 when you try to save a drawing. By clicking on file/save would immediately show a wait cursor (blue circle in Windows 7) and the Save dialog box does not appear.
Although the error "not responding" appears, my PC does not seem to be busy doing anything (no use of the CPU for the executable to HAVE it in the Task Manager).
After some searching on Google for hung in Windows 7 when recording applications, I came across the following Microsoft link:
http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/313937
According to Microsoft, Windows 7, when you save, first checks the availability of network resources (persistent mapped drives liked). Applications like MS Office may crash when you try to save if these network resources are not available. Windows 7 seems to also not 'hear' well with older versions of Windows (such as Windows 2000 for example). The guillotine registration number can also be caused by a slow network connection to network resources.
In my case, I had:
1 - a slow link between the guillotine Windows 7 PC and a persistent (ie - reconnects when connecting) mapped network drive.
2 - the network drive is also hosted on a Windows 2000 Server (Windows 7 is not always play nice with Win2K)
After disabling the group policy that this drive mapped to the login time, my question GOT hooked disappeared. I can still reach the reader via a shortcut on the desktop of the PC Win7, and which seems to work very well. It is only when this resource has been "localized" as a shared drive that this become a problem for Windows 7.
Anyone having this problem should also verify the possibility of losing your network connection to a shared resource (as the network adapter passes in mode "sleep" because energy saving options and thus break the connection to the network).
Hope this helps others.

After cropping of a photo with Photoshop I discovered that I was unable to rename. I soon found out that the same thing is true when I tried to rename main folders in My Documents. I am able to insert the cursor, but it does not respond when I type characters, or even when I hit him back out. Know a simple fix?
Name change is a directory operation. It would seem that you have read and write access to your directories, but you do not change access. This highlights a problem with file permissions. How is 'Simple' the fix depends on which version of Windows you have to a certain extent.
Windows XP Pro (with "Simple file sharing" turned off) using the security"" tab. When you right-click on a file or a folder and select 'Properties', then click on the 'Security' tab to view and change the permissions.

You can start safe mode and log in as administrator for the 'Security' tab as above, or you can open a command prompt window (start-> Run-> "cmd") and allows you to display the 'cacls' command or change the permissions of files and folders. You should check that your username has permission to ull 'F' for your records. Not pretty, but it works.

Why my windows freeze and go does not respond when I try to install the msn photo on hotmail download tool?
The active x bar descends into the small window and freezes all windows open right there and will not respond. This happens when I open a new message and try to attach photos.
Things I tried but has not made a difference:
reinstalled IE 8, deleted the history of the browser, disk Cleanup, removed msn photo upload control, optimized IE8
With xp media center
PS. This occurs also at any time the information down to install an active x on any site control
The only way to surf now with frustration is to use IE 8 NOT add optional
So I fixed that on my own and that's how I did it.
You must uninstall IE 8 completely which will bring you to IE 7 (in my case) and then install IE 8 via the site updates or microsoft.
Uninstallin IE 8 by going to:
Start--->
Control Panel--->
Add Remove programs--->
Scroll down to IE 8--->
Click on delete.
IE8 updates must be removed also, if not then click the box 'To see the updates' on the top of the window to scroll down, look for the IE 8 security updates and delete.
Resart your computer and install IE 8.
This worked for me and may or may not work for you.

Vista displays the message "not responding".
When I click to open programs, the program does not open and a message "not responding" appears next to the title of the program at the top of the screen. The entire screen turns off and when I try to close the program a box pops up that gives the options for "Wait for the program to answer" or "close program". When I select 'close program' a message saying "windows is looking for a response" but no answer is found and the system hangs and I can't 'restart', so I have to close the pc using the power button and open again.
This problem occurs with any program and randomly. Some of the programmes concerned are Internet Explorer, windows Explorer, windows, windows snip tool, roxio creator 2009 and other photo gallery. It seems to happen with any program being launched and programs that have successfully launched previously.

I've done all that I can find in this forum - in safe mode, change the settings for McAfee, etc, etc, etc. I downloaded Thunderbird again and reinstalled. Nothing helps. I can look at an email but if I try to remove it I get the message "not responding". If I try to go to the next message I get the message "not responding". If I try to do something, while the screen is frozen, it goes gray and I get the message "not responding". Short of changing my email viewer, is there anyway I can fix it.

"Do not answer" especially when playing games
Hello
The screen does not respond when the screen fades is by design. This screen appears when the current running program takes a lot of time to answer.
Games can be very graphic intensive, so I recommend that you're looking for the latest graphics card drivers. You can also check with the manufacturer of game to make sure that your system meets or exceeds the recommended configuration for the software.
I hope this helps.

Original title: user profile
My administrator user profile does not work properly, but I have a user profile that has activated the parental control that worked well for about a year and yesterday when this user logs on the desktop comes up, but after that the computer does not respond when that user tries to do anything. There are actually turns off the computer with the power button. I ran a virus scan and spyware scan in my user admin profile and he has not found anything. I don't know what to check.
Hello rhunter15,
There may be a program to interfere with Parental controls so that we can try a few things to see if we can determine the application or program that is causing problems.
First of all, we run System File Checker to see if you have a corrupt file system.
- Click Start
- Click on all programs
- Click Accessories, and then right-click on the command prompt.
- Select the Security tab and choose "Run as Administrator"
- Click on command prompt
- Type SFC/scannow.
It will scan and repair any damaged operating system files.
To determine if there is a program because of a conflict, we recommend that you perform a "clean boot" of the computer. A clean boot is designed to disable programs and services in the background as much as possible. This helps determine which service or program can be the cause of the problem. For more information about how to perform a clean boot for troubleshooting, click the number below to view the article in the Microsoft Knowledge Base.
KB 929135 - how to solve a problem of performaing a clean boot in Windows Vista.
http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/929135Once you have finished the clean boot, check again and see if you get the error of parental control.
If please post again and let us know if that helped pinpoint the problem or if you still need help.
Thank you
Marilyn
