  Windows Movie Maker comes pre-installed with Vista, and according to the guidelines of your error message, I would say that you have Vista.

• Windows Movie Maker has stopped working and will not save

  I used Movie Maker for some videos and they all worked without any problems. This one I edited without any problems, but when I go to save it I get an error message that says that "windows live movie maker has stopped working". My film is not as long, only four minutes, and it has music, a .wav file and text. My video files are AVCHD.  I tried to remove the text and music, but it does not export again. I also tried a clean boot, but that doesn't work anymore.

  If you can open Movie Maker... try to go to... Tools / Options /.
  Compatibility on the left tab, click on the "all default settings"

  I made movies regularly. I tried to open the program and now it simply reads "windows movie maker has stopped working".  What should I do to fix this?  Can I recharge direct Director? I read about a possible deletion of the program and photo gallery. I don't want that to happen.  I take movies already published the computer off? Is it a space issue?  I'm at 148 GB used, 138 free space. This should be ok?

  Hello! I have a problem with windows live movie maker. I had been using windows live movie maker before and was able to make several projects already.  But recently I could no longer open my files and the following messages keep appearing on: "Windows Live Movie Maker has stopped working.  A problem caused the blocking of the program works correctly.  Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available.  I downloaded the Windows Live Movie Maker program several times, but it does not work.  Does this mean I can have deleted a file/program to do work and recover all the projects I've done?  I remembered that once, I was removing a "Windows Live" in the program folder files because I wasn't happy with the Windows Live Messenger, kept popping up, which was not able to use, so I removed it from the list.   OK, I'll try to uninstall / reinstall again (did not the first time), but when I went in the box to add / remove programs again once, I noticed the option repair, so I tried instead.  It worked!

  I have a XC of Aspire Acer-605, i5 with Windows 8 (bought 4 weeks ago)

  When I open Windows Media Player 12, if I play music or not, in less than a minute, a box appears that says:

  "Windows Media Player has stopped working: a problem caused the blocking of the program works correctly." Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available.

  The only option then is to click on "close the program".

  When I try to listen to music on CyberLink Power Media Player 12. I have the pop box saying:

  "Play.exe stopped working: Please send us this report to help us solve the problem and improve this software."

  The option only two then are "CANCEL" or to type my email and the problem then click on 'send report '. I did the second and nothing heard back.

  XBOX media player works, but I don't want to use it.

  I already scanned with McFee virus and it found nothing. I recently remove a virus from my computer. The problems may have started after that.

  Can you help me to solve my problem?

  After days and days of the trial, an online chat with a technician Microsoft (which was useless) I finally found a suggestion that worked... I had to create a new user account with administrative privileges. Media worked perfectly in this new account! I then spent ages downloading the files from my old account before deleting completely. It took a long time and has been a real pain, but at least it works now :-). Good luck to all. I hope this works for you xx

  have compatibility problems. . WMV is the most reliable
  format to import into Movie Maker and DVD Maker.

  It is possible that one or more of your. Source AVI
  files is damaged or incompatible, but disable all
  filters in DVD Maker before burning the DVD
  may be worth a try...
