Hey Guyver Micro,

Ø summers - get you any error trying to connect the device.

I recommend you to check if the device is detected in Device Manager.

1. click onStart, type devmgmt.msc in the start search box and press on enter.

2 see if the device is detected.

You can run the Fixit which fixes some common problems related to the USB. Open the link below and click it on theFixit button.

  • I have a computer running VISTA. The CD-ROM/DVD-rom does not work and can not read the CD of the program that I placed in it.

It won't read a DVD.  It will not read ANY CD or DVD.  I tried 12 different CD/DVD.  This isn't an upgrade to Vista; the computer came "made for Vista" with Vista installed on it.  I had added Nero.  I removed Nero.  I did all the updates. Then go to right click on UNINSTALL - - CD/DVD - Device Manager CHECK THE DRIVERS to REMOVE and
    continue.

    Reset.

Occasionally, install an upgrade or a re - install will fix the problem and of course the drive or other hardware issues
    could be at stake.

    =====================================

Here's the answer, just in case there is something you don't have, and I start up and down.

    Try this - Panel - Device Manager - CD/DVD - double-click on the device - driver tab - click
Update the drivers (this will probably do nothing) - then RIGHT click the drive - UNINSTALL - REBOOT
This will refresh the default driver stack. Even if the reader does not appear to continue below.

Then, work your way through these - don't forget the drive might be bad, could be a loose cable
or slight corrosion on the contacts (usually for a laptop) and other issues.

  • Matshita DVD RAM UJ850s ATA optical drive will not read burned media, running Vista

    * original title - CD/DVD unit read not "burned" cd *.

Hi, there are about 6 weeks, I had to do a recovery because a virus in my PC, the problem is that now the optical unit reads no CD, it reads 'original' CD, DVD (original and burned) but not burned CD specially those who have programs on them, could be a driver problem, but so far I have not been able to solve the problem , and I m not sure the original driver are in Sony's site, or any other Web site.

PS the thing Burns CD and they can be read after that that they were "closed".

I have a VAIO VGN-N330FH, running Vista Home Basic 32 bit (Spanish), the model is a Matshita DVD RAM UJ850s ATA Device.

    Hello

You have disk problems as the CD/DVD is actually 4 discs in 1 case (CD & DVD burning and)
Playback of CD and DVD). So it is not unusual for parts from 1 or 2 to not work so that others do
    correctly.

Burning at low speed, or by using the master could help. A CD/DVD cleaner might help.

Brand of the CD or DVD drive can also be the problem. Low quality (cheap brands) are always problematic.

CD/DVDs have a tolerance + - and your can read/write on the edge outside these discs
tolerances. They may be delivered, but it is generally more economical to replace the disk.

Ripping my hair out on new HP laptop running windows 8.1.  Big jump from Vista.  No cd player.  I would like to transfer documents on what etc. created in MS Works to the new computer, but I'm puzzled, completely.  So do not have the program to be transferred to a disc must be direct or portable drive? There, can anyone help?

    Hello

MS Works does not work on Windows 8 or 8.1 Windows, BUT you can copy the documents from work to new machine as files and then use other Microsoft products to open and save as a new format. You can copy them to a portable player (USB key or external HARD drive) from the old to the new computer.

    Kind regards.

    Hi Asdlfjasdfjlasdf,

How did you install ServicePack initially?

You can try to start safe mode and try to perform a system restore.

    Step 1:

For a safe boot, you can follow the below given steps:

    1. remove all floppy disks, CDs and DVDs from your computer and restart your computer.

Click the Start button, click the arrow next to the button lock and then click on restart.

    2. do one of the following:

    a. If your computer has a single operating system installed, press and hold the F8 key as your computer restarts. You need to press F8 before the Windows logo appears. If the Windows logo appears, you need to try again by waiting until the Windows logon prompt appears, and then stop and restart your computer.

    b. If your computer has multiple operating systems, use the arrow keys to select the operating system you want to start in safe mode, and then press F8.

    3. in the display Advanced Startup Options, use the arrow keys to select the option of safe mode you want and press ENTER. For more information about the options, see startup options (including safe mode).

4 log your computer with a user account with administrator rights.

When your computer is in safe mode, you will see marked Safe Mode in the corners of the screen. To leave safe mode, restart your computer and let Windows start normally.

If you are able to boot to the desktop in safe mode try doing a restore of the system at a point when the computer was working fine.

For more information on Safe Mode, follow the link below:

Start your computer in safe mode

    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows-Vista/start-your-computer-in-safe-mode

    Step 2:

To restore the operating system to an earlier point in time, follow these steps:

    1. Click Start, type system restore in the search box, and then click System Restore in the list programs.

If you are prompted for an administrator password or a confirmation, type your password or click on continue.

    2. in the System Restore dialog box, click on choose a different restore point and then click Next

    3. in the list of restore points, click a restore point created before you started having the problem, and then click Next

    4. click on finish

Note: When you perform the system restore to restore the computer to a previous state, programs and updates that you have installed are removed.

For more information, please follow the below given link:

If you are not able to perform the above steps then you will need to take your computer to the technical workshop and get it rectified.

The steps to perform a clean boot are given below:

1 log on to the computer using an account with administrator rights

    2. click on start, type msconfig.exe in the start search box and press ENTER to start the System Configuration utility.
