Microphone does not work well when recording video to work
For the last few months, my phone has this kind of problem whenever I wanted to record a video. The audio in the recorded video may not be heard clearly, even with the highest volume. There sounds caring as wind noise even though I'm far from any source of wind such as fan, or when recording. At first I thought it was problems with the listener; probably I had disconnected the wrong way. But after trying a few times, the result is always the same. When I tried to record audio using voice memos, the audio is properly can be heard. This problem only occurs when you record a video. Please help me.
Please visit Apple support communities.
It seems that your iPhone does not record clear audio as well as your videos. It seems that you have identified that the background microphone (used to record voice memos) works, according to get help with microphones on iPhone, iPad and iPod touch.
Then, try the following steps, coming from the link above.
If audio video recordings of soft sounds, or Siri can't hear you, ensure that the microphone near the iSight camera - corner of your iPhone on top, bottom, the receiver is not blocked or covered.
If the microphone and the receiver are not blocked:
If you still have questions after you test the microphone on your device, try the following steps:
- Unplug any accessory plugged into the headphone jack.
- Avoid blocking the mic microphone and iSight with your fingers while holding the device or video recording.
- Remove the protection of screen, movies or cases that cover the microphone, microphone iSight or iPhone receiver.
- Clear all debris from the microphones or receiver iPhone. Refer to the manual of your device on the locations of the microphone.
- Restart your device.
- Make sure you have the latest version of iOS.
If you have tried these steps and people still can't hear you on the phone or FaceTime calls or Siri does not hear your requests, contact Apple technical support.
I spent $2,000 to buy this Satellite P500 a month ago and soon found that the microphone does not work well. I used the web camera application to record a video to test, the volume level is very low that you barely hear it and it cracks.
I called the support center, waited for half an hour and finally had someone to talk to me, I followed his instructions adjusted the level of the microphone to 100 and the boost to 0.
The cracking sound disappeared, but the level of volume is still too low to hear. What can I do?
Call again and wait half an hour? His Friday 17:00, they will be upset and I'm already mad!
Have you tried to test mic with Skype or a similar application. Friend of mine has Satellite P500-127 and he use it for Skype communication.
I can hear it fine and everything works fine.
Do you still have the factory settings (original operating system preinstalled)?
Connect an external microphone to * Headphone\Microphone combo socket *, still records through portable microphone instead of externally. Registration of external Microphone does not work.
What Miss me? Please notify.
I can't say with certainty what may be wrong here, but two things confuse me:
-somehow your external MIC is obviously not detected because in the case when the external microphone is connected laptop switches automatically to it
-I don't understand why there are two identical entries under recording devices.
When I connect my headphone it is always a single entry (Conexant SmartAudio HD default unit), but my machine automatically goes to the external microphone only.
Have you tested the feature with some applications like Skype?
Hello! My iphone 5s works really well, sensors, speaker, camera, all right. Similarly, the microphone works really well when I make a call using 'whassapp', 'line', etc and I can record video, talking to Siri, using voice memo and once more my microphone works really well. BUT! When I make call and receive phone call my microphone does not work, they do not hear my voice at all. What will happen with my microphone when you use the cell phone call? HELP ME PLEASE!
Try resetting your device. This will not erase your data stored on that device.
- Press and hold the sleep/wake button
- Press and hold the Home button
- Press and hold both buttons until the display turns off and on again with the Apple logo on the subject.
Alternatively, you can go to settings - general - reset - Reset all settings
If that doesn't work, restore your device to factory settings. Please note that this will delete the data on your device.
Take a look this Apple Support article: use iTunes to restore the iPhone, iPad or iPod to factory settings - Apple Support.
As a final step, try recovery mode. Turn off your unit, then plug it to your computer with the hold home button. Hold down Home button until you see the logo of iTunes on the screen of your device. After that on your computer, you should see the iTunes window saying that your device needs to be restored to factory settings. Click Restore.

But it does not work on whatsapp and LINE calls. And it also does not work when I snapchat. Only works on the default camera Apps and call through my number.
-restart my phone
-hard reset and blink? Reset with the power and the "home" button.
-read the micro support page. Still no solution.
my microphone does not work on every apps on my phone except calls through number and approx. of default camera it gives you just that silence when I play it on voice notes. But it works when I record yourself using videos on the default camera app.
Thank you for using communities of Apple Support.
I see from your post, some applications have a problem to access your Microphone. I know how it is important to ensure that your applications have access to the Microphone and can use this feature. I have a few things I want to try.
First, tap Settings on your iPhone and then scroll to the last section that lists your apps. Select the applications that use the microphone and make sure that the Microphone is activated (green).
Then, follow the steps in the article below to close these applications:
Then, test the microphone in these applications again and see if it works.
whenever I have to video chat with anyone with front camera on they won't listen to me. Even when I record with fromt camera microphone does not work with the camera back, everything works correctly and even with siri, I can't talk more but when I take a call they can hear perfectly
The microphone does not work now. It worked very well but immediately stopped.
Tried setting the sytem for a previous working restore point. But again same problem.
Realtek is the audio driver installed.
External Mike works very well.
Anyone can help with this problem.
Laptop bought the UNITED Arab Emirates and now in India and its less than 1 year.
Can I get the service locally in India.
The internal MIC is part of the webcam module.
What happens if you start the webcam, try saving and small clip? The sound recording is this too?
Usually, you can change the recording devices in Control Panel-> sound-> recording tab
Here, you can check what devices are available. Right click and check if hidden and disabled devices can be demonstrated.
By the way: I had some problems with the playback of the sound after installing the Realtek audio driver. I uninstalled the Realtek audio driver and Device Manager remove the audio display Intel (in games, field audio video controller). In the peripheral zone system you could remove the controller high definition audio.
Again, restart the laptop.
Usually, removing devices should be recognized automatically. Then go again to the dashboard-> sound-> recording tab and check if other devices outside external microphone are available.
I have hp dv6000 laptop. The microphone is integrated and it doesn't work. It says that the driver is installed correctly but it is obviously not.
What should I do?
Thank you for using Microsoft Windows forum.
I suggest you all to first download and install Windows 7 driver compatibility. Check your drivers in the Windows 7 Compatibility Center: http://www.microsoft.com/windows/compatibility/windows-7/en-us/default.aspx to check if your audio drivers for hp dv6000 are compatible.
The drivers for your hp dv6000 seem not to be compatible with Windows 7 and this is why I suggest you to download the Windows Vista Compatible drivers from: http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareList?os=2093&lc=en&dlc=en&cc=us&lang=en&product=1842155 and running Windows Vista compatibility mode.
You can also try to adjust the default microphone and check under the sounds in the recording tab.
It seems that the microphone is not properly configured on your computer. You can try to solve the problems more microphone/line-in following the steps, in order, to test, check the connections and the hardware, update the audio drivers and configure the audio settings of Windows. If you follow these steps in the correct order, you will fix the problem or you will find that the audio software must be configured or updated.
Step 1: Test of an audio signal
1. click on start, then Control Panel.
2. click on hardware and sound and then click on manage audio devices...
3. click on the recording tab.
4. to test the microphone, speak into it. To test the line, send a signal to the line at the port of devices audio source (press play on the audio player). Look at the gray bars next to the name of the device under the recording tab:
* If the gray bars next to the device name turns green, this device is active and an audio signal is passed through the microphone or line-in port. This step shows that this problem is related to sound parameters in the software that uses the microphone. If you have not already done so, set the device selected by default and adjust levels. Once the device is set by default and levels are defined, use and adjust the sound recording or voice carrying software.
* If the gray bars remain inactive and grey, the device does not have a signal. Leave the record open tab and go to the next step.
Step 2: Check the volume levels and mute
The volume of the speaker to the microphone and line - in may be activated or rejected. Use the following steps to check the volume of speaker for line and microphone levels.
1. click on start and then click Control Panel.
2. click on hardware and sound.
3. click on sound.
4. Select speakers, and then click Properties.
5. click on the levels tab.
6. click the button mute Microphone and on any other line that is cut.
7. use the slider to increase the micro level and each line at least 75.
8. click on OK.
Step 3: Update the audio drivers
You can see a front-end port microphone does not work, a recording device is missing in the recording tab, a microphone is not recognized when it is plugged in, or any other problem. There may be updates audio drivers that can solve this kind of problem. Use the following steps to ensure that the audio drivers are up to date.
1. connect to the Internet.
2. click on start and enter the Device Manager in the start search field.
3. click on the plus sign next to sound, video and game controllers.
4. right click on the name of the sound material and select software update of the driver...
5. click on search automatically for a driver updated and wait for Windows to update the driver software.
6 Windows checks a remote Web site to see if the update of the driver software is available.
* If an update is available, let Windows install the update.
* If an update is not available, proceed to the next step.
7. once the update is successfully installed, test the microphone or line like that was made in step 1. If the problem persists, proceed to the next step.
Step 4: Configuration of Windows registry settings
By default, Windows 7/Vista automatically activates microphones and line - in ports. Use the following steps to set the microphone/line-in port to be the default port and configure the logging levels.
1. If the recording in the Audio window tab is not selected, open the sound and click the recording tab and make sure the State is defined as below.
1 - port microphone - work and set as default
2 - line In - work
3. digital (S/PDIF port) In - work
4 - stereo Mix (mixer software) - disabled
1. If several microphones or line - in ports are available, select the port you want to use. Click on set as default to make this device default audio input device.
2. If the device you want to use contains a small circle with an arrow pointing down, the device is disabled. To activate the device, right-click the device name, and then select activate.
3. once the selected device, click Properties, and then click the levels tab.
4. adjust the slider up to 75% of its range.
5. If the mute is enabled, click the button mute to reactivate the device. The mute button should show as a blue speaker without any red circle.
6. If the Microphone Boost is available, adjust and + 20.0 dB.
7. click OK to make the changes.
8. test the microphone as was done in step 1 to determine if Windows is able to detect a signal from the microphone or line used. If you have completed all the steps and the microphone or the source device still does not work, the audio ports or the computer's sound hardware can be bad.

I have the Toshiba satellite A500 - 14Q for about 3 years. I changed the hard drive, keyboard, frame of the monitor until now, and I'm sick and tired of this laptop does not properly. Now, I've discovered that my microphone does not work. There is no problem in device, or with the driver manager. I hear that crackling noise when I try to enter any other micro device.
Can anyone help please?
P. S. I have windows 7 (64-bit)
How did you test the mic feature? With the help of tool tape recorder?
> the monitor framework
Perhaps you have made a mistake and mic is not connected correctly. Did you do it alone or it was done by the Toshiba authorized service provider?
I have a Toshiba L500-1PU, running on 32 bit Windows 7,
The webcam works perfectly, but the internal microphone does not work correctly.
I had an external microphone, so I had not noticed this problem when I am on Skype, but I recently discovered that when using the webcam of the person at the other end can hear weak my computer noises when I play music or watch a video clip.
How can I fix this and get my microphone working properly I can control the volume and actually get a full service my laptop otherwise decent?
Perhaps this Toshiba FAQ might help you:
+ Hissing on the Satellite L500 +.
It s are the parameters.
This problem occurs if the volume of the microphone in the speakers properties is enabled.
After you turn off this point the issue with Larsen is no longer in effect.
I hope this helps!
I formatted my pc from windows Vista to windows 7 (32-bit) and for some reason any microphone does not work. Any ideas or where can I find the right drivers to download. I have the Toshiba Satellite P300-21F
I installed Win7 32 bit on brothers P300 and it works properly.
Have you installed driver sound right?
When you open the sound properties > recording devices is the Microphone which is are listed?
Firstly, as far as I know, my upgrade to Windows 10 has worked very well and I love the new OS. The only problem I have is that my microphone does not work. It shows it as being installed and working properly, but I can't use it anywhere in the system. The driver is the Contexant 20672 SmartAudio HD.
When I go to "Set up a microphone" is said "the wizard could not start. Make sure that your hardware is working properly and check your audio configuration in the control panel to control Audio devices and sound themes. »
My microphone is turned on and the volume is growing.
The same problem. I deleted the folder drivers\win\audio and loaded the drivers of Windows 7 instead of Windows 10 drivers from Lenovo site. Solved.
I have a dv2608ca HP Pavillion age of 4 years. The microphone has worked for the last 3 years and about 6 months ago, it stopped working. Any time, I record something using the recorder on my laptop, I hear two sounds dull (as if someone was tapping on the microphone with a finger) and then silence. I took it to my local Best Buy for repair. They ended up wiping my own hard drive and then reinstalling Windows Vista. This fixed the problem for a day, and now the microphone does not work yet. I do not anything to the system between the time wherever I came back from Best Buy and 24 hours later when they have stopped working. I tried to check the microphone with Windows recorder and there is no indication that a sound is detected (green bar does not move). No sound is detected with Skype or msn messenger. I tried right clicking the speaker down icon to the right of the screen and check the level of the microphone and making sure that nothing is cut. I tried to go to Panel following the instructions for the Device Manager and cntrl (updating the driver for the result Conexant High Definition Audio.: "driver is already updated"). Please, I beg you! Help? Thank you!
Thank you for your response. I read the links you provided and knew that I've tried all these steps already. Fortunately, in browing HP Web site, I found a feature that helps you identify the driver for your specific model updates. From this page:http://h10025.www1.HP.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareCategory?OS=2093&LC=en&cc=us&DLC=en&sw_lang=&product=3550028#N150I clicked on the audio driver and instead of updating my driver, I thought to upgrade to the previous driver. And it worked! I clicked on "Previous Versions".Problem solved! It is important that when using this Web site, the correct model of the HP product is identified so that appropriate support can be provided. And I guess I learned that the upgrade is not always the option of sound with my operating system Vista and HP laptop computer!
Microphone does not work after upgrade from Vista Home Premium to win 7 Home Basic Edition. Laptop model Sony Vaio VGN-NS25G, bought in India
My built-in mic not working anymore after the upgrade from Vista Home Premium to win 7 Home Basic Edition. Model laptop Sony Vaio VGN-NS25G was bought in India. I have taken the loacl Sony Service Center and they said that Windows 7 drivers for the microphone Sony was not yet available. They mentioned that the only way to fix the problem was to upgrade to Vista. Is this true? Where can I get these drivers for the microphone, and they are not available, when will they be available?
Interestingly, I found the drivers for Windows 7 for this particular model of Vaio. Here is link thye:
I suggest updating all your drivers from the link above and drivers Realtek especially.
Method 2. Set the default Microphone.
Once the drivers installed to check if the microphone is the default value, here's how:
Exercise the functions mentioned below to adjust the Microphone as default:
1. Click Start and click on Control Panel.
2. click on sound, then a new window will open.
3. in the new windows, click on the 'Registration' tab and right click in the window and click Show disabled devices.
4. now check if the Microphone is listed there and right-click on it and choose activate.
5. turn highlighted that Microphone and click "set as default".
