Microphone gain settings

I use a USB sound card with a CMedia CM119 chip inside, for whom the 'Generic USB audio' drivers are called automatically.

According to the data sheet of the chip, the microphone input has a + 20dB boost that can be turned on and off, then another amplifier which can vary from 0 dB to 22.5 dB gain in 16 steps.  These features before the ADC 16-bit digitizer.

I want to manually toggle the boost and set the variable gain, but this has not been highlighted on 'Properties' or control volume/drummer.  After the stage of CDA, I don't want to manipulate filling volume or dropping the pieces.  Is there a way to get explicit control I want?

Hi DaveInCC,

Welcome to the Microsoft community.

Windows comes with all the basic drivers that are required for windows to support and execute all devices. For all these advanced settings which you want on your microphone, you will need to contact the manufacturer.

If you received a CD/DVD for the drivers, try to install it and look for the question.

I suggest you contact the manufacturer of chips CMedia CM119 because they will be able to help you in this regard. See the link to the contact information below:

  • The lock on a Macbook pro microphone gain?

Hey all, I have a question that makes me mad and after a few long google search, I am still unable to find a solution. I use a mic boom (Yeti) and I need to put my low gain otherwise picks it up too much in my background. I use Slack and Join.me for work and it seems that many of these programs will hijack my sound settings, increase in my gain. Unfortunately, there is nothing I can do to no longer soft or Join.me because they do not have a way to disable the auto gain control *. I wish there really was a way to lock the gain system-level. Does anyone know of a solution, before you buy a DAC? I would consider even a paid app.

    * Although, even on the applications I want to disable automatic gain, my gain still seems to decrease or increase alone.

    Thanks for your help!

I wasn't familiar with your microphone. but the research it upward. It would seem that it has built in gain control as well as for directional and omnidirectional. It is in the Mac operating system, in your Utilities folder an application called Setup Audio and Midi. You might look into Garage Band and upward on the app store. It's only $4.99.

  • Cannot find STM10 accessory stereo microphone under settings on my xperia z2

I bought a Xperia Z2 in India (Asia region). I also bought a stereo mic Sony STM10 but cannot find a way to activate it in the sound settings. I also realized that the menu is different from those appearing in magazines in the telephone line; which must be American or British based. Does anyone know if the STM 10 microphone can be used in Asian versions. Is there a way to make the phone to detect them. Please I have already spent a lot on them, and it seems silly that it shouldn't work just because he bought in a different country.

Hi, if you meen the headset menu system is a recent change with the last 4.4.4 software... the STM10s are not listed, but try the general framework... If no luck just try to individually select each

  • Gain settings (Video)

I accidentally shot the video with my gain on my camera set to 18 dB. Is it possible to change than 0 in adobe first?

Once the gain is added in the camera, it's here for good. Your photos are exposed or just grainy?  I use the Neat video denoiser wisely to repair noisy sequences, but it is a paid for plug-in. If your film is more exposed, you may be able to recover some of the highlights using the luma corrector, it depends if your camera saves great whites.

    Good luck

I pressed accidentally on 'don't ask' when prompted to access the camera and microphone on a Web site that is crucial for its use. How do I reverse this order? changing the security settings did not help

Go to the page you want to change the permissions and click the globe icon or the lock to the left of the address. From there, click on the button "additional information". In the window that appears, select the "permissions" tab Then find the camera and microphone access settings and change them to "allow".

  • Yet WT8 - microphone is very quiet

    Hello

I got a reminder of Toshiba for Christmas and have started to use Skype on it.
When I do the person I call can't hear me unless my mouth is located next to the microphone.

Someone else has had problems with their microphones being too quiet or is it a hardware problem on my device?

    See you soon,.
    Nick

    Hello

Have you checked the microphone recording level?
Microphone level settings are in the utility of Microphone level.

Hold down on the speaker icon in the taskbar and select form of recording devices submenu. Select the Microphone and the Properties tab.
On the level tab, move the Microphone slider to increase or decrease the level of the microphone.

If you feel that the volume of the microphone level is inadequate, move the slider for Microphone Boost to a higher level.

PS: this and other details about your device are in the user manual ;) so read it if you want to know how your camera works and how to use it

  • How we control the gain of the digitizer PXI-5102 factor?

Dear Sir, I have a question on the gain settings in the wfmInfo structure that is returned when you use fetch or read functions. Dose it be determined by the digitizer (internal) automatically when you set the attenuation range and vertical probe? How he determined? Thank you very much for your help.

  • Vst 5645r PXI gain / attenuation calibration chain RX TX

    Hello

I work with PXI vst 5645r. I did some research using the RF output of the transmitter connected with the receiver RF input.

In my application, it is important to know the equivalent mitigation and win I get (output of the DAC) generation up to the acquisition (input of the ADC) (loop gain).

I looked at http://zone.ni.com/reference/en-XX/help/373680C-01/vstdevices/5645_analog_input/ and http://zone.ni.com/reference/en-XX/help/373680C-01/vstdevices/5645_analog_output/ in order to better understand how to build the structure of my channels.

Whole, I looked in the drawing in labview how these parameters are controlled and value (example VST streaming (host)). I found only the configuration of gain for the transmitter in the 'LO_cal' block but I don't see no calculations for the various mitigations of transmitter. I have to check these datas for the transmitter.

How are managed and put all these settings in the transmitter and the receiver normally?

I guess that the receiver channel attenuates the signal in order to use the dynamic maximum range od a/d converters and use good power from receiver... calibration changes the values of gain/attenuation in the receiver string whenever I use a different gain (peak power dbm) of the issuer?

    Thanks in advance

    Best regards

    Giuseppe

The reference level is a 'guide' for the driver VST set the attenuators and win as well as the range of the ADC/DAC are used at best.
Depending on the frequency that you and the chosen reference level, the VST pilot will focus on the best combination of the mitigations

and win to get the Signal arriving at the ADC to use his full range:
You can see the calculations in this niRFRIO Group A Config 1.0.0 Shared Private.lvlibelect RF calibrated Gain.vi

This Gain is 'Gain of frequency step-down converter' that summarize the entire path of Rf In.

So practicall frequencies/Upconverter Gain step-down converter is the total analog gain that is put on the signal just before and after the ADC/DAC.
This is done in the niRFRIO Group A Config 1.0.0 Shared Private.lvlibelect RF calibrated in Gain.vi.

The discovery to Gain Index scan all possible power levels for this frequency and get the level closest to the chosen reference level.

Whith this information, he knows what attenuators and win it must reach the power to get at its best at the ADC (input gain settings)

So to calculate the loop gain, you must define a level of refeerence fix so that all mitigations and gain in the two paths of remain fixed, test it with a calibrated CW and then use this configuration for your DUT.

When you read the QI of the VST (retrieve a single record) this information is passed to the function, so it can calculate the values of CDA and calibrated to their actual value on the RF In:

If you calculate the gain of loop inside the FPGA, then he must send the information of step-down converter frequency/upconverter gain between the host and the FPGA. You can then use this information to calculate the loop gain.

    Best wishes

  • Too low volume of the microphone

I just bought a new Toshiba Satellite L500D, with Windows 7, and I'm having a problem with the microphone volume, in this sound recording is barely audible.

I followed all the steps suggested on this topic on the forum: http://social.answers.microsoft.com/Forums/en/w7music/thread/06582922-0014-4dac-9f74-b63f143fbb8e... .but nothing fixed it.

It's a built-in microphone and audio driver is Realtek.  I did a driver update check and it integrates the latest version.  I all set to maximum microphone volume settings and tried to test records Skype and sound recorder for Windows.  They record, but it is extremely low volume, even if I'm leaning closer to the microphone and speak loudly.  Different recipients of Skype call could barely hear me.  The only thing that saves the high voice is when I run a finger over matte plastic of the monitor frame - which saves super hard for some reason any.

I welcome suggestions as soon as possible.  I need my microphone to get the work done!

I hope that the people at Microsoft can remedy the situation as soon as possible, because it is crucial to set!

I had this problem for a few weeks, I recently read a forum post saying uncheck the: allow applications to take exclusive control of the device:

Well, I found this setting and changed a few others and I think that he has fixed

I went through the control panel > hardware and sound > manage Audio devices to reach the acoustic Panel.

I selected reading > Speakers > improvements and made sure that everything was unchecked.
"" I selected reading > Speakers > advanced and unchecked "allow applications to take exclusive control of this device.

I went to recording > Microphone > listening and insured 'listen to this device' is unchecked.
I went to levels and assured the Microphone level was 100% and the boost to + 10 dB
I'm gone into improvements and assured that everything was unchecked.
"" I then in Advanced and unchecked "allow applications to take exclusive control of this device.

And finally I went in the Communications of the acoustic Panel tab, changed "when windows detects communications activity" to "do nothing".

  • Configuration of 1120D SCXI using the DAQ assistant

    Hello

I tried to set up a channel on a module SCXI in 1120 D, as well as the rest of the SCXI system, using the DAQ assistant, but ran into a problem related to the range of the signal.

According to this, http://sine.ni.com/nips/cds/view/p/lang/en/nid/1658, the maximum voltage is located between 10v - 10v, but when I tried to configure a channel with a range of 0v - 10v, it displays an error indicating that the range of the signal was invalid and that the available range is - 0.005v - 0.005v, could someone suggest what I'm missing or what I need to do to set up?

    Thank you

    Chris

    Hi Chris,

    Thank you for your message.

Can I ask that you have the software gain set on the device? The table on page A-5 manual found here your device that the gain settings must be for some input range.

I imagine you have the gain set to 100 while the available range is ±50 mV. For - 10V - 10V, please adjust the gain to 0.5.

    Thank you very much

  • Apps denied the lack of test material?

I have two applications that work together.  Here is the description:

hxFOV is a live video monitoring and control system.  It consists of 2 applications: application of the Agent and the application of control.

This Agent app turns your mobile device into a remote listening and viewing device. When activated, it turns off the display, while secretly video and audio streaming to a remote device running the application of control of hxFOV, which has full control of the application of the Agent.

To use, install the Agent on a single application device and control on another device app.  Make sure that both applications use the same password to ID, group, and the server.  They would connect automatically, allowing the aircraft to control control device officer.

Your device can be remotely controlled (through the application of control):
    -Toggle front/rear camera
-change of resolution, frame rate, quality
    -change the microphone gain level
    -switch between streaming modes

    My rejection email States:

All the features of the application could not be tested as a unit and remote access server requires to operate.  Repro steps: 1. launch the application. 2. try to enter data for the device of the agent. 3. notice to the user cannot continue further in the application without these credentials.

I provide the servers (they use my existing servers of ReelPortal), which the applications load during startup.  But it seems that the tester is not a second device to test with.

    What should I do now?

    TIA.

The developer was contacted offline to fix the problem.

  • Precision micro HD on Win XP vs Win7

    Hi team,

We´ve to test HD cameras of precision on computers desktop Win7 and Win XP SP3, using video of Jabber. Video is OK on both, Audio seemed ok using the built-in microphone as well, with an interesting difference.

For some reason, it seems that the microphone Gain is higher on XP Win7 OS: we can hear users XP way stronger than the Win7´s, using the same levels of microphone and speakers on both sides. We tested the same device on 2 different Win7 and WinXP PCs, the result being the same. No particular audio software/driver was installed on one of them.

Does anyone had such a difference with the MIC Gain, according to the client OS?

I assume this has somewhat to do with the driver used on each operating system, but we are curious to know if this has been noticed before. Comments are welcome.

    Thank you!

    Hello.

The sound muxer works differently on XP into account under windows vista/7.

So unfortunately there is no way to solve this problem.

In the short term, I think I understand in Windows XP is a material muxer/gain. While in Windows 7 / VISTA there is a software muxer/gain.

In XP the sound is "as it is out of the box" while the sound in Windows 7 is the controllable software user

  • How to remove the phone (bluetooth device) completely from the computer

Original Title - need help with Bluetooth on Windows 8 devices?

I'm trying to remove my phone (Blackberry) to my Bluetooth devices, because it does not work properly (I want to remove the device and then try to connect to it). Removed completely from my phone, I am removing my PC.

I thought that I removed in 8 gain settings menu (in pc settings > devices), and then tried to delete there from there, but when I tried to connect my phone after that, he always says to remove the device from the computer, and then try again.

In addition, the folder bluetooth (empty) for the folder bluetooth of my phone won't disappear in my computer. The phone is not yet listed under devices and printers in Control Panel.

  • I have Sony HDR CX900 exhibition fluctuates

I am owner of a recent Sony HDR CX900 and was conducting an internal interview when I discovered that exposure varies even if the light hasn't changed.

    Hi garydac,

If the camera is set to auto exposure, the exposure such as the gain settings and shutter speed can fluctuate according to the movement of the camera or the subject. The camera automatically change settings when it detects differences in the amount of light entering the sensor. If you want to adjust the exposure manually, press the program AE button until you see an E icon on the lower left of the LCD screen. Turn the manual selector to set the parameters.

  • Play with the opacity or amount

    Hello everyone.

For example: you have a layer within Photoshop, and you can play with the opacity, like 10% or 50% or 100%.

Inside the hearing, inside Clip Rack or Rack effect, I would like to adjust the opacity or the amount for each effect. For example: adaptive noise reduction or DeHummer make 30%. The only place where I found this opacity or the amount is indispensable Sound Panel, inside the amount, from 0 to 10. Any other choice?

Well, "Opacity" is not really a concept when it comes to audio, but each effect has a wide range of settings, you can do.  How they are labeled depends on the effect does.

For example, on the of hummer, the closest thing to the opacity is the Gain setting - it is a digital quantity rather than a simple slider.  However, if you adjust the number (you can drag left and right to go downwards and upwards) that adjusts how snoring - the frequencies that have been selected - is reduced.

Similarly, the Adaptive reduction of noise, the slider ' Reduce Noise by ' is probably the closest thing to the opacity control how much or little, the noise is reduced by.

The problem with just using these two controls is however that other things can affect your sound - noise reduction, doing a too high percentage can give you a metallic sound as hearing eliminates also certain frequencies in the audio range.

The Essentials Panel, as you have discovered, is a recent attempt to facilitate adjustments for no audio specialists.  However, as the reduction, for example, the RAW camera filter in Photoshop to a single setting.  It may be the best guess at what a typical user would want.

As a basic indicator, HAND, for each effect controls will be things like the gain settings or as percentage but on other effects (such as reverb for example), there is a control that sets the balance between the original material and the effect generally call "wet dry mix.

Anyway, as you can see, seemingly simple question gets you a what either by simple answer.  I would say that if you are going to use hearing is to work through some of the tutorials on the Adobe pages... with a little research you will usually find a section on the specific effects to use.
