If you have windows set in place for automatic update which usually means that it will check updates daily, but will only install them at a predetermined time, THAT YOU have planned.  If you see the available updates in your taskbar, it means that it is to give you the opportunity to install before the normally scheduled.

  • Why don't Microsoft automatically deletes files in temporary folders of windows every reboot, month...?

It's basically my question above.  I saw exe virus, just sitting on this issue for years.   Maybe there should be a limit on how long a file can live in this folder. Microsoft should set policy or give the user the opportunity to choose this time.  What is an example

of the program that needs to live in this temporary file for more of:

    -An hour?
    -A week?
    -A month?
    -A year?

I noticed now with Windows 8, type folder to access the folder, making it difficult for me to delete the files.
    Example of records
    ===========
    c:\Windows\Temp\*.*
    c:\Documents and settings\johnSmith\Local Settings\temp\*.*
This is for all versions of windows:

Because Windows has no way of knowing if it is done by the process that put files with them or not.  If it deletes files that are still in use, bad things will happen.

    Updates were:

    KB2807986 for a Note

    KB2687505 to the Visio Viewer

    KB890830 for malicious...

    KB982726 for Office 2010

    KB2809289 for IE 8

    KB2814124 for Silverlight

    KB2553501 for filter Pack 2.0

    Thank you

When you install Office 2010, Silverlight, Windows Live Essentials or Microsoft Security Essentials, you can make two changes:

1 Microsoft Update (vs Windows Update) becomes your update by default source (that is, if she had not already the default); [1] and...

2 automatic updates will reset the automatic configuration by default (that is, if one of the other options had been selected.)

[The above is specified in the EULA that you accept when you install one of the requests, but it is "buried" in the small print and difficult to anyone who bothers to read.]

Since you had MS Office 2010 installed for a while, chances are that Microsoft Update was already your default. So, it seems that #2 happened to you after you have installed Windows Live Mail (part of Windows Live Essentials) a few weeks ago (i.e. the or after 12 February).

If you have not already done so, do not hesitate to change your automatic updates affecting the 'download but do not automatically install... '. "option.

    ======================================================

[1] so that Windows Update provides updates specifically for Windows, Microsoft Update expands the service to download and install updates for other Microsoft software (MS Office 2010, Silverlight, Windows Live Essentials and Microsoft Security Essentials).

For me, the problem described is certainly Microsoft case and I don't see any connection to laptop Toshiba. Maybe I'm wrong on this, but what you can do in this case?
Simply delete the latest updates using system restore application and try again.

    Hello

Thanks for posting your question on the Microsoft community.

I would like to know some information about the problem so that we can help you better.

What version of Windows is installed on your computer?

Thank you for details on the question and your efforts to resolve.

The automatic maintenance Windows reduces the impact to the PC in planning maintenance only when the PC is powered on and idle. By default, the system performs maintenance every day at 03:00. (Note that the user can set a new appointment in case of maintenance). This session is limited to a maximum of 1 hour per attempt. If the user is actively using the machine, the system differs maintenance until a later date. The system suspends also maintenance running any task, if the user returns to the PC.

We do not recommend disable you the automatic maintenance. However, if you want to disable, you can do it at your own risk. Please follow these steps:

    a. press Windows + R keys, type taskschd.msc in the immediate window and press ENTER.
    b. in the Task Scheduler, click with the right button on "maintenance of Maintenance & regular idling" and select "disable".
    c. you can now exit the Task Scheduler window and check if it is disabled or not.

    I hope this information helps.

Please let us know if you need more help.

    Thank you

  • Update Microsoft Update Site crashes video system

    Envy 17 3D (model: LV045UA #ABA) with a Radeon 6850 M and Mobile Intel HD Graphics

09/03/11 Microsoft Update site provided a ~ 150 + MB update for Radeon 6850 M and Mobile Intel HD Graphics. After the downloaded update and had started to install, the video system crashed. The screen went black and has not recovered after more than one hour. I restored my last system image and tried again. The results were the same.

    Everyone knows about similar problems?

Microsoft automatically finds the drivers, but they are not good. If you need to update the video driver to your support page of models or AMD.com.

If the machine does not function normally, then don't update the driver.
