Microsoft Games lack of program Windows

After a shortcut on the desktop for Microsoft Games, I am unable to play all games content. In the games, files there are many files that cannot be opened, such as PNG and application files. When I clicked on these files, nothing happened.

You don't need to have made a backup before using System Restore.  Please please use it at the same time.  The more you wait, the longer the less reliable.  It only takes 2 minutes and can immediately solve your problem.

  1. Press + R to show the run box, type RSTRUI and click OK.
  2. Choose a date when the computer was working properly, and then click on next to restore system files from that date.
  3. Try to see if the problem is resolved.
  4. If not set, you can return to step 1 to cancel the restore process, or try another date.

  • Where are Microsoft free games that were in Windows 7?

When I downloaded Windows 8 I lost access to all free Microsoft games that were in Windows 7.  I can't find the cards or Mahjong games unless I go to the store to buy.  There are free copies, but they come with all kinds of unwanted insects.  Does anyone know?

    Hi DorothyRobinson,

If you take a look in the store, there are several available games.

You can go to your home screen by clicking in the lower left corner or press the Windows key, then go to the app Store.

Once in the store, you can search for apps by pressing Windows key + C and click on search in the bar of charms and then search for games from there.

  • Age of Empires 3 does not start on a vista machine, get this error "C:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\Age of Empires III\d3dx9_25.dll is not designed to run on Windows or it contains an error."

I'm trying to play age of Empires 3 on my computer running windows vista Home premium and the program does not start. I get the error message: "C:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\Age of Empires III\d3dx9_25.dll is not designed to run on Windows or it contains an error." I tried many suggestions from Microsoft (resettlement program, reinstall in safe mode, update & reinstall the drivers for my video card, the compatibility issues with vista, updating and reinstalling directx 9.0 c, install vista service packs 1 & 2) but nothing has worked so far. I was able to play the game on the same computer with windows xp installed (it's a different hard drive that is not in the computer, and everything is the same) and it worked fine. My computer is old enough, but like I said the game worked before installing vista. ASUS A7N8x deluxe, AMD Athlon xp 3200 +, ATI radeon 9600, 2 GB OCZ ram that all suggestions are welcome. Thank you.

    Hi Raygun55,

Welcome to Microsoft Vista answers Forum!

This problem may occur if the Microsoft DirectX file that is mentioned in the error message is damaged or is not copied correctly.

I suggest that you copy the file manually by following the steps and check if you are able to play the game without any problems:

    Manually copy the file

To do this on a computer that is running Windows Vista, follow these steps:

1 insert the disc 1 CD for one of the following games into the player from the computer:

    o Age of Empires III

    o Fable: The Lost Chapters

    o Zoo Tycoon 2

o Rise of Nations: Rise of Legends

    2. click on start to reduce this includes this image and then click Documents.

    3. Locate, and then click computer.

    4. search and then click on the CD drive.

    5. Locate and then click the following folder:

    CD player :\ DirectX9

Note In this folder path, the CD player represents the drive letter of the CD drive.

6 double-click on Apr2005_d3dx9_25_x86.cab, right click on d3dx9_25.dlland then click copy.

In Rise of Nations: Rise of Legends, double click Aug2005_d3dx9_27_x64.cab right-click d3dx9_27.dlland then click copy.

Note Use the Apr2005_d3dx9_25_x64.cab file for the x 64 version of the Windows operating system.

    7. find one or more of the following folders, depending on the games that are installed on the computer:

By car : \Program Files\Microsoft: Age of Empires III

    By car : \Program Files\Microsoft Games\Fable - The Lost Chapters

    By car : \Program Files\Microsoft Games\Zoo Tycoon 2

    By car : \Program Files\Microsoft Games\Rise of legends

Note In these folder paths, drive represents the letter of the drive where the game is installed.

    8. right click on the folder of the game which is the part that is installed on the computer, and then click Paste.

Note If you have installed more than one game on the computer, repeat steps 5 and 6 for the other games.

You can check the link for more information: error message when you try to start a Microsoft game: "the file d3dx9_XX. DLL was not found": http://support.microsoft.com/kb/910813

Alternatively, you can try to install the game in XP compatibility mode and check if you are able to play or not.

Right-click on the game > click Properties > click on the Compatibility tab > select for XP compatibility mode > click OK.

Let me know if it worked.

on the rise of nations, I get this error code. How to fix it. DISK ERROR WRITING C:\PROGRAM FILES\MICROSOFT GAMES\RISE OF NATIONS\ART\OPENING. WMV. MAKE SURE THAT YOUR DISK IS NOT FULL AND THAT THE FILE IS NOT IN USE.

    Hello

    1. do you get this error during installation, downloading or playing the game?
    2. What is the amount of free space on the hard drive?

Method 1: clean boot the computer and check if the problem occurs.

To help resolve the error and other messages, you can start Windows 7 by using a minimal set of drivers and startup programs. This type of boot is known as a "clean boot". A clean boot helps eliminate software conflicts.

Note: Follow step 7 to reset the computer to start as usual after the boot process.

Method 2: uninstall and then reinstall the game and see if the problem still occurs.

  • Error: "there was a disk error when you write to the file C\:Program files (x 86) \microsoft games\dungeon siege\resources\objects.dsres" during the installation of Dungeon Siege.

When I try to install it it comes up with an error about 16% in the installation, saying that there is a disk error when you write to the file C\:Program files (x 86) \microsoft games\dungeon siege\resources\objects.dsres

    Any ideas?

    Hi MouseToe,

What version of Dungeon Siege you trying to install?

The cause of this problem could be the corrupted resource (.dsres) file or disk error. Here are some things you can do to solve the problem.

Method 1: Run the disk check.

Check the integrity of your hard disk for lost clusters and errors.

To do this, follow the steps in this article: check a drive for errors

Method 2: Defragment the hard disk.

This improves the performance of your hard drive.

Reference: improve performance by defragmenting your hard drive

Method 3: Run the game as administrator.

    Here's how:

    (a) right click on the game configuration file.

    (b) choose 'Run as administrator'.

Method 4: Try to install the game in a different folder or to a different drive

Try to install the game in a different folder. If the computer has another hard disk, try to install the game on the other hard drive.

    Follow these steps.

    a. Insert the game disc in the drive.

Note: Do not click on Quick Installation during installation.

    b. follow the setting menus until you see the change button.

    c. click change.

    d. in the path box, delete the existing path, and then type the following text:

    drive: \Program Files\Microsoftgame name Games\

In this example, drive is the letter of the hard disk drive and the name of the game is the name of the game you are trying to install.

    e. click OK when finished.

    f. follow the instructions that appear on the screen to install the game.

    This should be it.
