Microsoft's Jet in Win7 database error when you try to open a program

Running Windows 7 Ultimate

We have two programs that are essential to our activities, making use of files using file extensions <.mdb>and <.dld>.

We have not used a program for a few weeks and now Windows Update, updates including Service Pack 1 installed.

Later, I opened one of the programs, and he opened with a window in the middle of it which announced:

It is already opened exclusively by another user, or you need permission to view its data. >

I looked at the file in the program folder and its icon is passed under vacuum to show as a Microsoft Jet db file. So I changed it to associate only with the program who tried to open it. Then I tried again and got the following error:

It is already opened exclusively by another user, or you need permission to view its data. >

I tried to re - associate the <.dld>but it did not.

Last thing I tried was to open the same program and files on a laptop as we go out to workplaces. He worked as always. I looked at the <.mdb>extension and its icon was/is always empty. This laptop has downloaded and installed the updates today, but still is to be restarted - that I have not done. I guess they are the same updates.

I have heard of problems with SP 1... What is a likely culprit? Should I try a system restore? Or is it perhaps something else?

DRM for all the advice.

  • Error when you try to open a video or audio file using Windows Media Player-operation abandoned

WINDOWS MEDIA NOT OPEN FOR ME!

I recently bought a new jvc hd everio hd camera, I put the videos I recorded there from the other day that the files were .mts and he says, replace these files with .avi and it will play so I played 1 and he played really agitated then WMP just stopped working and I got the error

    C:/folder...  Abandoned operation!

Continues to appear when I try to open any type of video or audio file now, I want to uninstall and reinstall the wmp player, but I need to know is there a way to fix this to play as it was before, I went on the net tryin to google it and search for it but im leaves loop holes saying changing the programs by default and other things but nothing worked , I need to find the right way to get this working... help me...

    Hi DragLee,

Windows Media Player is the default or integrated drive in Windows Vista. It can't be uninstalled or reinstalled. However, if a system file is missing or damaged, we can run sfc (System File Checker) scan to find and fix system files corrupted.

Try these steps and check the result.
Step 1: Scan of the sfc
    1. open an elevated command prompt. To do this, click Start, click programs, accessories principally made, right-click Guest, and then click Run as administrator. If you are prompted for an administrator password or a confirmation, type the password, or click on allow.
    2. type the following command and press ENTER: sfc/scannow
3 restart the computer once the analysis is complete.
    4. check if the problem persists.

    For more information, see http://support.microsoft.com/kb/929833

Step 2: If the problem persists, perform the system restore to a date where the media player was working fine
    1. Click Start, type system restore in the search box, and then click System Restore in the list programs.
If you are prompted for an administrator password or a confirmation, type your password or click on continue.
    2. in the System Restore dialog box, click on choose a different restore point and then click Next.
    3. in the list of restore points, click a restore point created before you started having the problem, and then click Next.
    4. click on finish.

    I hope this helps.

  • Error when you try to open Device Manager in Windows 7 Professional.

When I try to open Device Manager or the computer management window, I get an error message similar to the following:

MMC cannot open the file C:\WINDOWS\system32\devmgmt.msc.

It is perhaps because the file does not exist, is not the MMC, or was created by a later version of MMC. Perhaps it is also because you don't have sufficient access to the file.

File c:/windows/system32/devmgmt.msc has the tool box is red (which I think its usually grey (normal))

    Hi GodzillaSurfer,

Try these steps and check if it solves the problem:

    1. Click Start , type cmd, right click and select run as administrator.

    2. at the command prompt, type regsvr32 msxml3.dll , and then press ENTER.

In addition, if the step above does not resolve the problem, you can run a scan of auditor of file system (CFS) on your computer. SFC tool scans system files and replaces incorrect versions of system files by using the correct versions.

  • I get security errors when you try to open a pdf file.

I received a security error when trying to run my javascript program, the function has worked before, but now creates an error after I entered the addWaterMark function. I put my entire code below for my script.

The basic function is to load a text file in a table which has the path location and file, open the document, add a watermark, save the file, close the file, and then repeat for the next position of table.

I use Acrobat Standard so I'm unable to debug using the console, that's why I'm fighting for what I'm doing wrong. I want to clarify that I am not a fluent programmer, only to have a knowledge of database programming.

  • Photoshop Elements 7 - error when you try to open multiple images

I've attached a screenshot of the error I get when I try to open more than 1 image at a time. the program ends up closing and I have to re open the program.

I have xp pro installed on my pc. my pc is part of the domain. If I connect to the pc as an another domain user I can open more than one image. I deleted the program using Add/Remove programs and re installed, which made no difference.

    does anyone have advice?

Take a look at this Adobe Tech doc titled Photoshop CS3 or Photoshop Elements 6 crashes when you open several images (Windows):

    http://kb2.Adobe.com/CPS/402/kb402704.html

Cut and paste at the bottom of the document:

    More information

Application or system error logs may cite ntdll.dll in the failed module.
