Microsoft Security Essentials does not auto scan.

Original title: For some time my windows security does not have the auto scan I have planned. It worked for awhile, but now I have to manually complete the analysis once a week.

I took a moment for Microsoft Security Essentials run a complete scan Sunday to 5:pm.  My computer is no longer made these automatic scans, I have to go the Microsoft Security Essentials and manually run the full scan.  Why this automatic feature no longer works?

Hi Louise,.

This problem may occur if there is no third-party software installed on the computer or due to corrupted settings of Microsoft Security Essentials.

1 did you install another antivirus on the computer software before?

2. did you of recent changes on the computer before this problem?

3. at the guarded computer turned on at the scheduled time?

4. what version of anti-virus software do you use?

Method 1:
I suggest you uninstall if there is no third-party software installed on the computer. Uninstall the third-party antivirus software, using the removal tool on the manufacturer's Web site.

Method 2:
If the problem persists, I suggest to uninstall and reinstall Microsoft Security Essentials and check if it helps.

    My personal opinion...
Any Beta program is expected to have bugs. That is why the label "beta".
If you are a computer user accomplished and ready to test a beta program, continue to do.
If you are just a normal daily computer user, you can stick to IE8 at the moment until the SP is set to release 'officially' the product to the general public.

For your information only, you can uninstall IE9. The system automatically returns itself back to IE8.
To uninstall IE9: go to programs and features > left column, install the update > scroll to find Windows Internet Explrer 9 > right click > uninstall.
Realizing that you use Win7. The above procedure should work for Win7 machine.

    1. see if you can download/run the MSRT tool manually: http://www.microsoft.com/security/malwareremove/default.mspx

NB: Run the FULL scan, not analysis FAST!  You may need to download the MSRT on an uninfected machine and then transfer the MRT. EXE to the infected machine and rename it to SCAN. EXE before running it.

    2 Vista or Win7 => this scanner instead: http://onecare.live.com/site/en-us/center/whatsnew.htm

  • Security Center does not recognize the Windows Security Essentials

Windows Security Essentials does not seem to register with Security Center.  Security Center reports that no Virus protection is enabled.

    1. I installed Windows XP 32 - bit WGA, activated the product and updated to SP3.

2 security Center starts giving Windows security alerts for Virus protection, because none has been installed.

    3. I installed McAffee VirusScan.

4 security Center stopped giving Windows security alerts for Virus protection.

    5. I uninstalled McAffee VirusScan.

6 security Center has resumed giving Windows security alerts for protection against the viruses as before.

    7. I installed Windows Windows Security Essentials and rebooted.

    8. I tried to uninstall and reinstall Windows Security Essentials with no joy.

Windows Security Essentials installation did not prevent Windows security alerts.  No Windows Security Essentials registry entry will appear in HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/Software/Microsoft/Security Center and monitoring.  If Microsoft consider essential security to be an antivirus product, then how to Windows Security Essentials register with Security Center?

I understand that this is an information and alert issue only.  I understand that Windows Security Essentials works actually ok.  I am particularly concerned by the reports.  It conditions my deployment of Windows Home Server.  Deactivation of surveillance or the alert is not a solution, just a poor quality work around.

In a previous thread, the author of this question even abandoned and has not requested additional assistance.  An explanation was given (relevant for Windows 7), but no solution has been offered.  Windows XP has not been addressed.   http://answers.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows/Forum/Windows_7-security/the-Security-Center-has-not-recorded-an-anti-virus/15ae2383-7ced-4850-A863-f7eb8cc90ee5

  • Computer, freeze, and Microsoft Security Essentials scan stop on this file each time: c:\Program HP Imaging\bin\hpqthb08.exe

My computer, one almost four years, Dell Inspiron 1454 with Windows XP Pro, continues to freeze when left to sit for a few minutes. Also, I discovered that when I run the Microsoft Security Essentials quick or full scan analyzing stops on the file HP Digital Imaging mentioned above several times.  I was wondering if this means something on the reason why the computer freezes up. Also, Windows Live Mail continually lets me know that it is "not responding." Yet once, I guess it's because of the freezing problem not Windows Live Mail is the cause. I do not know.  I made some different system using different dates restorations and who has not solved anything so far. I use the computer during a run without problem, but if I have a cup of coffee, for example, I have to restart when I return. Sometimes, the slider moves, sometimes not, but no matter the computer is unresponsive after that I took a break or just out of the blue when I try to open an e-mail or another task. I guess it's time for a Mac, but I thought I'd see if anyone has some ideas on how to solve this problem. Thank you!

    Hello, Olivia,.

This problem is probably due to an outdated HP Digital Imaging monitor. Even if you decided to switch to a Mac, the question may still popup because you have installed hpqthb08.exe.

Fortunately, there is an update that you can apply.

    SP26427. EXE

    http://h10025.www1.HP.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareDownloadIndex?softwareitem=PV-26169-1&LC=en

Or you can simply disable HP Digital Imaging Monitor.
