All my Windows products is no longer up-to-date. I deleted Microsoft OneCare (a wonderful program that will sorely missed me) and installed Microsoft Security. Next thing I know nothing updates. In addition, Windows application now that I'm is no longer connected to the Internet even though I am.
Any suggestions?
I did run the OneCare cleanup tool before MSE unless it was launched during the uninstall process.
Most of the other users who replaced OneCare with MSE discovered (the hard way) that they needed run the cleanup tool before installing MSE. There are many discussions on this subject in the MSE start-up and upgrade forum.

Hi Gary,.
It seems that Microsoft Security Essentials has corrupted on your computer. You can uninstall and reinstall the program to check the issue.
Step 1: Since you are facing problems of removal of the program, you can check the following thread and check if it helps.

Microsoft Security Essentials icon, absent from the taskbar after restarting Windows XP
original title: lack of Windows XP icons after restartAfter that I restarted my antivirus, Microsoft Security Essentials icon is missing from the taskbar. It also happened when I have ESET NOD32 installed. When I disable the SSDP Discovery Service, in the section of the Admin, it will appear. But when I go back and set it to automatic, it will still be absent.
For all that is you probably not need to have running SSDP Discovery Service, for security reasons almost always disable this service on any system that I put in place.

I use Microsoft Security Essentials on Vista x 32. Security Center tells me to start Windows Defender. I click to start, but he tells me that I have to restart my computer or manually start Defender myself. I go to services, and it does not advocate. It basically tells me that my system has no need currently the program or there is another reason, it does not start. Responses tells me that for the error code of course, I met error 0x800106ba later Code it tells me to try to start it manually if it doesn't work I have uninstall Defender and need to reinstall it. Yet when I go to uninstall programs, Defender is not listed. I tried to install it again because it is not listed, I thought I could. When I went to install it, it-error telling me that I have already as it came pre-installed with Vista.
Now, my question. Do I really need Defender since I use Microsoft Security Essentials? Is in fact an older version almost essential? Why it tells me to start it if it is not needed? And if necessary, why it won't start

Windows Defender features are included in MSE, defender of loading would be redundant.
Windows Defender antispyware =
MSE is antivirus + antispyware.
Then think about MSE as Windows Defender with more added (which is).
Check this box:
Startup tab - disable Windows Defender (if the list) and APPLY / OK - REBOOT
This should stop loading Defender.

Microsoft Security Essentials icon has disappeared from the bottom of my computer.
How can I put the Microsoft Security Essentials icon back on the bottom of my computer? The icon disappeared. Several times the "speaker" icon disappears also. I look at previous posts and solutions, but I do not see the guests that are mentioned. Thank you.
Hello
Thanks for posting your query on the Microsoft Community.
Sometimes the icon simply does not appear due to a start along with many other process resources and the part of MSE to load the icon to not load damage. If you can open MSE and it signals that all is good, it's probably what happened. Sometimes rebooting resolves it.
If you do not use a login ID and password for Windows, this can happen more frequently, especially on an old PC, but even a new. Windows Journal and journal of back and sometimes the icon will appear for you.
If the problem persists, you can consult the following discussions and see if it helps you to solve the problem.

Do I need to install Microsoft Security Update KB2925418
I ran Belarc Advisor and received a message saying "Microsoft Security Update (KB2925418) is missing from my computer, and because it is 'essential' I need to update now. I have my system automatically updated the Microsoft updates. Despite this, I checked the updates of Microsoft a few minutes ago on my desktop and I got a message saying that my computer is up to date. However, I can't update security KB2925418 in my 'update of the story". http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/2925418/en-us
The update of this article has been replaced by a new update. We recommend that you install the most recent cumulative security for Internet Explorer update.
The update is no longer relevant and has been replaced.
If WU says that it is up-to-date, then most likely, it is.

I have 18 installed Firefox. This is the third time that Firefox has stopped opening.
I ran Malwarebytes and Microsoft Security Essentials all three times and each time found any problems. The only thing that worked was (using Revo Uninstaller) uninstalling and reinstalling.
It has worked well for three weeks and stopped opening again last night.
Oh, and attempt to use the mozilla help screens in Internet Explorer is a nightmare...
And I tried to use the troubleshooter below, IE won't let either.
One possible cause is security software (firewall, antivirus) that prevents or limits Firefox or plugin-container process without informing you, possibly after the detection of changes (update) for the Firefox program.
Delete all rules for Firefox and the plugin-container in the permissions list in the firewall and leave your firewall again ask permission to get full unlimited access to the internet for Firefox and the plugin-container and the update process.
See:
Try to start the computer in safe mode Windows with network support (on the startup screen, press F8) as a test to see if that helps.

I have a HP dm4 3055 portable dx running Windows 7 Pro. Ill take ideas please...
Microsoft Security Essentials should give you options regarding the Trojan horse. I suggest to choose to delete or quarantine. Follow the instructions in this document to Microsoft web.
Regarding Microsoft Security Essentials not updated, try the steps of troubleshooting onThis Microsoft web document.
Be sure to keep us updated with your progress on the issue.
My personal preference is to use the paid antivirus and security applications such as ESET Smart Security and Norton Internet Security. Be installed with I never had problems with horses of Trojan or virus on any of my systems.
