Microsoft SQL Server 2008 Service Pack 3 (KB2546951) will not download

I get a notification of download of Microsoft SQL Server 2008 Service Pack 3 (KB2546951), and many times I try, the download will not be completed.  I used Microsoft Fix it and the problem is still not resolved.

Hi, Longshanks1776,

Are you trying to download manually or by using Windows Update?

What Fixit did you use and is given an error code?  Please post back.

The update has already been installed?  Open Windows Update and click on 'View Update History'

If the update has been installed, you can right click on the update and select Hide when it reappears in the Windows Update list.

Tried to install the update as soon as possible?  Was there a message failed with the error Code #?  After the return, please.

Open command prompt

Type the following command

SFC/scannow

Press enter

Note: There is a space between sfc and / scannow

When the scan is finished, open run and type %windir%\Logs\CBS

This will open the CBS.  Search cannot repair file #.  Note the name of the file

Perform an in Place Upgrade to repair the files.

  • Windows Update (KB2463332) Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Service Pack 4 fails (twice).

I have not asked for it.  The update that is mentioned in the title just appear as a windows update, as usual.  This is not the first time that I had a problem with windows update in Windows 7.

I am running Windows 7 64 bit.  When windows tries to update my computer with the update described in the title, it fails.  The first time, it failed with the error code 6 b 2.  The second time the error code was 80070005.

After these failures, I downloaded the service pack directly from Microsoft.  The name of the file is: 'SQLServer2005SP4-KB2463332 - x 64 - ENU.exe "I can't believe the silly problems I encounter by train to run this update.  He keeps asking me to find the correct path for various and different .msi files.  Not these files are in the file "SQLServer2005SP4-KB2463332 - x 64 - ENU.exe" and the installer should not know it.  Who is writing this software for Microsoft, at least, a bunch of monkeys?  I'm serious!

There's a free banana in there for anyone who can provide the answer.

I expect that all the monkeys will take offense to my request and that I will not receive a response.  I would like to take this opportunity to tell you that I really don't like!

update of sql server 2005 service pack 3 error code 6D9E Windows update security does not accept the update

    Hey lasdj,

Thanks for posting in the Microsoft answers site!

If you receive Windows Update error 6d9e while installing SQL Server 2005 Service Pack 3 by using Windows Update, it means that the installation folders and directories are compressed or encrypted.

To fix this problem, make sure the folder locations where you are installing the service pack to aren't compressed or encrypted, or specify a different folder and then run Windows Update again.

Therefore, remove the compression of the DATA directory and run together to the top again.

Remove compression from the C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server folder and see if you are able to install the updates without any problem.

See the links below for more details:
