Microsoft Update site says that I am not the administrator

I'm the ONLY user/owner/manager on this laptop, when I go to the microsoft update page, it "scans to see if I have the harware appropriate" to use the site: then, he tells me I have to be logged on as administrator to use the site... I AM THE ADMINISTRATOR! How to fix this very odd situation?

  • I cannot perform certain functions because he says that I'm not an administrator, but it's my computer and I'm the only one who uses this computer__

I cannot perform certain functions because he says that I'm not an administrator, but it's my computer and I'm the only person who uses this computer

What are the functions? More global changes (changes to the system, software installation) require an elevation in Vista/Windows 7.

Changes to the built-in Vista administrator account

    http://support.Microsoft.com/default.aspx?kbid=942956

User - recommended configuration (Vista and Win7) accounts

You absolutely don't want to have only one user account. As XP and all other Windows 7, Vista, and modern operating systems are operating systems multi-user with integrated system of accounts as default Administrator and comments. These accounts should be left alone because they are part of the structure of the operating system.

In particular, you do not want account only one user with administrator privileges on Vista and Windows 7 because the administrator account integrated (normally only used in emergencies) is disabled by default. If you use as an administrator for your daily work, and this account is corrupt, things will be difficult. It is not impossible to activate the built-in administrator to rescue things, but it may require more work you want to do. Better not to get into a bad situation at first.

The user account that is for your daily work must be a Standard user, with the extra administrative user (call it something like 'CompAdmin' or 'Tech' or similar) only it for elevation purposes. As a user Standard is recommended for security reasons and will help protect your computer against infections. After you have created "CompAdmin", connect to it and change your normal user account Standard. Then log on to your regular account.

If you want to go directly to the desktop and ignore the Welcome screen with the icons of the user accounts, you can do this:

Start Orb > Search box > type: netplwiz [Enter]
Click continue (or provide an administrator password) when you are prompted by UAC

Uncheck "users must enter a user name and password to use this computer". Select a user account to connect automatically by clicking on the account you want to highlight and press OK. Enter the password for this user account (when it exists) when you are prompted. Leave blank if there is no password (null). MS - MVP - Elephant Boy computers - don't panic!

  • Cannot delete programs. Windows 7 says that I am not an administrator.

I'm trying to delete a program in my laptop.  I am the only user of this laptop and its sole owner.  I get an error message that says that I can not remove the program because I am not an administrator.  It is doubly annoying because I'm unable to install a similar program that I really need to use because I can't remove this program (i.e., I can't install program verizon wireless because I can't uninstall Cricket).

I have no need of several user accounts (more a user account account administrator) and will not be set up anything like that, no matter what Microsoft is necessary.  With my current setup, which is ONLY AN account with my name (and apparently not an 'administrator' account, whatever that means) how can I remove programs I didn't need?

    Hi DrJJ1967,

You can try the steps below and check if the problem is resolved.

First, you will need to disable all security software on your computer and check for the issue.

Make sure that you re-enable the security program after reviewing the issue.

Then try to start your computer with the default Administrator account and check the number to do that follow the steps provided below.

Open the start menu, type lusrmgr.msc in the search line and press enter

NOTE: this file is located in C:\Windows\System32\lusrmgr.msc

    a. open the User Manager and local groups.
    (b) in the left pane, click the users folder.
    c. in the middle pane, right click on administrator and click Properties.
    d. activate the account administrator of Buit-in-
    (a) clear the account is disabled box.
    (b) proceed to step 6.
    e. to disable the account administrator of Buit-in-
    (a) check the account is disabled box.
    f. click OK.
    g. close the window local users and groups.
    h. disconnect you, and you will now see the built-in Administrator account log additional icon (active) or removed (disabled) to the log on screen.

NOTE: Click on the Administrator icon to open a session the built-in Administrator account.

Now the steps provided above you must check if you are able to solve the problem,

If you are able to resolve the problem with the default Administrator account, then you must follow the step provided to create a new user account and set the below corrupted user profile.

    Create a new user profile.

Now you must create a new user account and check the question of do you need to follow the steps below.

    a. open user accounts by clicking the Start button.

  • Let me export bookmarks as html, say you that I am not the administrator, but I'm

I'm interested in dual-boot for Linux. However, I need to export my favorites. I was always able to export my favorites to an html element, but now say you that I can't because I'm not the administrator? I am the only user and run as administrator. This is not sensible.

You cannot export the Favorites to an HTML on the desktop?

You can make Firefox create an automatic HTML (bookmarks.html) backup when you exit Firefox, if you set the pref to true on the subject browser.bookmarks.autoExportHTML: config page.

The backup is created by default in the profile folder bookmarks.html, but you can set the file name and the path through the pref browser.bookmarks.file on the topic: config page.

The pref browser.bookmarks.file does not exist by default and you must create a new pref to string with the name browser.bookmarks.file and set the value to the full path of the file backup bookmarks.

Note: an HTML backup preserves tags and annotations, to lose them if you need to import the backup HTML.

  • Cannot download updates saying that I am not the original owner of mac.

Apple sends messages that I need to go to the Apple app store and update 3.  I'm going to do, and he rejects my claim by saying: I'm not the original owner of the mac.  I am the sole owner.  This has happened after the update to el capitan.

Go to System Preferences and make sure the user you are using is not tired to an appleId that you do not know the password

  • Try to install the updates and it tells me that I am not the administrator.

In the user accounts control, it shows that I am logged on as administrator, but it will not always security updates. All service packs are installed. When starting, I checked and it shows me as an administrator. I'm stuck. Help! Notes; Windows XP Pro 32

  • Firefox is up to date, but several sites report that it is not the latest version. What can I do about it?

There are several sites that I connect to (Netflix, Amazon, Hello Firefox, etc.) who are reporting that I use an older version of Firefox. I'm versions 36.0 performer, who reports to be updated. I am at a loss.

Hi, your useragent (information, the browser sends to websites to identify its version) - apparently by mistake - shows, you're on version 3 of firefox.

  • Windows 7 Upgrade, saying that it is not the right disc

I have the HP Windows 7 upgrade CD of 2009 and I'm trying to install it on my genuine HP laptop. First of all, I inserted the CD that is labeled insert everything first. After that everything was checked, I was then asked to insert the upgrade CD, I did, but then I received a notification that the disc I inserted is not the right disk. The CD I'm insertion is the support for Windows 7 Home Premium Upgrade, two CDs have been sent to Microsoft. Is there something I'm missing or is there a way I can work around this problem.

Looking forward to any help, thank you.

    Note: Running Windows Vista

Moved from Vista to install, upgrade and activate Forum.

You try to upgrade to the wrong architecture.

When important changes to your computer, for example an upgrade, it is always recommended that you back up your system before installing a new version of Windows. In your case, you can upgrade to Windows 7 depending on the edition and the architecture of Windows Vista, you have installed. If you are running a 32-bit version of Vista and upgrade to a 64-bit (Windows 7 edition) version, you'll have a pure make install, it is the opposite case.

If you are using Windows Vista Home Basic or Premium consumer editions, you can only upgrade to Windows 7 Home Premium or Ultimate. In addition, you can make downgrades, which means, if you are running Windows Vista Ultimate Edition now, you cannot downgrade to Windows 7 Home Premium. You perform logical upgrades:

Windows Vista Home Basic > Windows 7 Home Basic, Premium or Ultimate

Windows Vista Edition Home Premium > Windows 7 Home Premium or Ultimate

Windows Vista Business > Windows 7 Professional, enterprise or ultimate edition

Windows Vista Business > Windows 7 Enterprise

Windows Vista Ultimate > Windows 7 Ultimate.

  • my computer says that I am not an administrator

I am trying to download itunes on my account and it tells me that I am not Admin so I don't have the power to do.

The quick check to see if you are an administrator is to click on the button 'start '.
If one of the choices that is displayed in the pop-up window is "Open All Users", then you are an administrator.

The more rigorous method is to open a window prompt (start-> Run-> "cmd") and then enter the following command in this window:
    net localgroup administrators
This will give you a list of all the users on your machine that are administrators.

Virus scan problem when programs it then told me I'm not the primary user of the computer and I have to be the computer administrator?

You are the administrator or not? You have the admin password at your disposal? Yes or no, please.

If your answer is 'yes' to any of the above, then go Sfae mode. See if you can run the anti-virus in SafeMode.

How to get in Mode safe?

Restart your computer > immediately and repeatedly tapping the F8 key until you see a black and white screen > top/down arrow and select Safe Mode > login to your account > do the virus scan now.

If you need to use the links, and then select Safe Mode with network just instea Safe Mode.

  • Folio Bulder updated, but says that it is not.

I use indesign cs6 with license creative cloud on a windows machine 7.  I don't have administrator privileges on the machine.  When I connect to windows and open Indesign it says I need update the folio Builder.  Our technician COMPUTER with administrator privileges connected to windows and upadted all cs6 programs.  When our COMPUTER technician with privileges is connected to windows and Indesign, we open the folio Builder allows me to connect and everything works fine.  It connects through the window and I connect to windows and Indesign still tells me once I need update the folio generator, even if it has been updated.  In all the examples above, the license is managed by my adobe through creative cloud id.

As a side note, I tried Indesign CS6 as a trial version.  Before that I have a software license it would allow me to run the generator of folio while I was connected to the computer.  Folio Builder did not ask me the update until after I registered the product with a license.

You know any solutions to my problem?

I found a solution to my problem, I hope this can help others who wondered the folio update generator, even if its been updated.

I've found Indesign CS6 + Folio Builder has some type of problem on my Windows 7 computer.  If the folio generator window is open when I open Indesign, close from the start of Indesign.  When I open the Panel Folio Builder, he will always ask me to update the folio generator, even if it is fully updated.

The solution for me is to make sure that the Panel builder folio is always closed when I close Indesign.  In this way is opening Indesign, folio builder Panel does not open automatically.  I then wait a few seconds after the full opening of Indesign.  Once it is completely open and ready to go, I open the Panel builder folio and folio builder Panel alto opens correctly and I am connected.

I hope this will help others who have this problem and maybe Adobe can understand the problem.

After getting the following message when you try to log in my Bank I checked FireFox\Tools\Options\Content and found that the box to enable java script has BEEN verified. FireFox is acting as if she is not allowed. How to solve this?

Well, it is finally resolved. Thank you all for the help. A technician from one of my brokerage sites, which had a link blackened think there might be an announcement on. He clearly had me on history and cookies. then led me to a link to reset FireFox. After resetting everything works AND I have not lost all bookmarks or log in information. It's a relief to have FireFox again.

I especially thank Cor - el and the great search engine in the FireFox support site. I'm pretty sure I'm going to need you all again some time; but for now I can just go on my work.
