Microsoft Word - moving from one computer to another.

I have an old laptop with XP Home on it. I bought a new laptop and installed Windows 7 above. Windows 7 is Microsoft word. How can I move old laptop Microsoft Word again?

Hello MrPPP,

If you bought Microsoft Word then you should have a CD of Microsoft Word. Just re - install Microsoft Word, using CD on your new PC.

If Microsoft Word came pre-installed, then, unless the PC manufacturer gave you a copy of the CD in Microsoft Word, you won't be able to mover it from one machine to the other.

Although Microsoft Word is, probably, the best available word processor application there are alternatives. For example, OpenOffice is free and contains a set of processor (which will open .doc files) as well as a map of computing and other similar to Microsoft Office applications. You can see OpenOffice here: http://download.openoffice.fm/free/?pk=10305

  • Moving from one computer to another - PSE 5

The time has come to move image files and the catalog from one computer to the other.  Currently, I have pictures stored on a pc, but have developed my catalog of files on a laptop computer that accesses the computer via a local home network.  The laptop is Windows 7, and the old pc is Windows XP.  Successfully, I've updated the laptop recently and have catalog resident on her, transferred by the migration of W7 option.  The catalogue, however, do not attach tags and appropriate legends and yet I can access the images on the old pc successfully once I have reconnect, in batches.

The old pc is about to die and I would move the image files to a newer version with Windows Vista.  At the same time, I would like to transfer my laptop catalog to the new pc and make it work on my new laptop.  I installed the program PSE 5 on the new pc and was looking for a way to move (I'm not really sure of what 'on the move' {means, but I read it in a few discussions, seemed important to use PSE 5 program to accomplish this step} but could not find a move command in the section of the FILE that does not involve an intermediary device such as a CD) , as opposed to simply using my local network.

Can anyone guide my through the steps necessary to restore my catalog on the laptop and transfer the images from the old pc and the mobile catalog for the new pc?  I can still access the catalog on the old laptop if necessary file, but its screen is tempermental and not likely to be visible for a long time.

I use PSE 5 especially for its organizational capacity related to the tags and captions.  I know that the software has advanced at least 3 generations from PSE 5 and I would consider an upgrade if the organizational aspects are higher in the new versions.  To facilitate what I want to do?

This type of difficulty facing many users when migration is required for all purposes.

    Still hopeful - David

Backup and restore order through you move all the images from the old pc to new pc. In case you want to move all images to the network location, it will be a separate process and you can use the command MOVE to make.

What is the process of moving my Creative Suite from one computer to another?  What do I need to uninstall completely from a computer until I can install it on another computer?  I have a real CD not a download.

Do not attempt to move anything from one machine to the other.  Just use the disk and the serial number, you will need to install on the new machine.  You are allowed to have two facilities enabled, so you can keep the original as a backup, if you prefer.  If not, the minimum you need to do is to disable the original in order to free activation for another use (open the program and choose Help-> Deactivate)

How many times can I transfer my license from one computer to another?

If it is a retail license, you can transfer as many times as you want as long as it is removed from the previous computer, on which it was installed.

If it is preinstalled on your computer, it is related to the first computer on which it is installed.

-OEM versions don't offer any free direct support from Microsoft technical support Microsoft

-OEM Licenses are tied to the computer first you install and activate it on

  • transfer of all, except the os from one computer to another

want to transfer everything except the os from one computer to another

    Marce,

I would like to get an external hard drive - the best of Seagate and Western Digital for about $100. I have a 320 GB Seagate and it's much more that I need. Can I save more than one computer at a time. It's basically a huge flash drive, and you can buy them both at the Wal-Mart or Target or Office Max, Office Depot, etc...

This option is also better in the long run too - for data transfer in addition to save your documents in one place safe.

If you feel this isn't for you, then you can move gradually using a flash drive (available at Wal-Mart, Target,...) or burn your data on CD and move it over that way.

    I hope this helps.

  • Transfer programs and files from one computer to another

My old computer is an HP ME edition. I transferred programs and files to a HP with Vista Home Premium. Will the old programs and files, my computer run more slowly, and can I remove the old ME programs and files without interfearing with Vista OS?  Thank you

First of all, you can not transfer programs from one computer to another - well, you can try, but it almost certainly won't work because the programs must be installled to make sure that ALL the files and registry entries are added correctly and created.  Delete, nothing like you have transferred because it will be of no use and just take place.

As far that range from data, you can transfer data and should not affect the performance of your system (unless you have a LOT of files - and I mean a LOT).  Move them to the appropriate folders in your user profile to make them easier to find (and backup).

Certainly, you can delete the old program files and data that you have transferred without causing any problem for Vista.  Just be careful that you ONLY delete these files and do not delete Vista files accidentally while you do.

    I hope this helps.

    Good luck!
