migration files in/Home/Users

Hello

El Capitan uses / users and / Home, my linux box uses/Home.  I can't COPY files directly from there (cannot mirror - mirror does not change the directory name).  But that's not all.  My scripts under linux contain / home in them (they should not, but freeBSD linux and others, a few of you forced him to do).  Also some Documents contain same/home/user (links to files).

then, "I need/Home" for me and El Capitan is parked at my place!

to make a long story short: editing Documents / and Scripts / loan ' / users ' because I can not alias it to/home: could take days or even more than one week in the end.

What has anyone else done?  is it possible to use/Home as a normal directory?  I'm not even sure that is the apple app "stole as a namespace.

I just tested this in the GUI and it works as expected here. I went to a ~/Home and copied file on the users, and it worked as expected. I have a feeling I can be misinterpreted what you want to do.

  • How can I run a search to find all PST files used in the disks Home users?

    Hello

I need to know how to run a search for my server files (windows Server 2003) to find all the PST files that are located in a disk of home users - including subfolders

However I need research to tell me what PST files are in use. (active)

Is anyone able to help me with this?

    Hi Gonz1981,

Your question of Windows is more complex than what is generally answered in the Microsoft Answers forums as it is linked to the search server .pst files. Appropriate in instances of Windows Server.

Please post your question in the Forums of Windows Server.

Will be the files OE be saved if you save on XP - Home user accounts?

I think not so much, and I wouldn't trust him anyway.

I use this tool. During installation, you create a folder in a location of your choice for the backup of data to go. I keep mine in My Documents. Whenever my documents are stored outdoors, a copy of this record is as well. If something happens, if you reinstall the program, you can return OE the way it was by restoring the folder you created.

This freeware tool backs up everything on OE in seconds. Ignore what is written in red. Which refers to another program.

However, the error message says "Firefox cannot find the file/home/user/document #bookmark." If she gets the path right to the error message, but bad for the path. If I go on the path in the window of firefox and replace the "% 23" with the "#" file is loaded correctly in the bookmark waited.

  • IMac is not able to share multimedia files with multiple users on the same computer.

We just bought a new IMac that we were very excited.  We have phones Apple and iPads, replacement and ten year with a new Mac old PC made since.

Now, the trouble begins. For more than ten years Windows had several usernames on the same machine and have been able to have a shared folder only for music, pictures and video that my iTunes program and others could acsess and share from several user names. This kept all in one place for new photos families by me or my wife and our 30 gigabytes of music that comes from our CDs was available at bolt of us. Now in train to implement on IMac should be easy but is impossible.  after transferring the music to my login information, it cannot acsess all files on my login. I am not even able to share or provide his acsess. I can move the iTunes folder to my shared folder. She can get acsess now but iTunes says that the library file is locked. I worked with care from Apple on the phone for that sold, but they believe it will not be possible without creating two copies of the 30 gigabytes of music for each of us. who would take more hard drive when it failed too.  Sharing is not any help. These files were before iTunes. I'm not pay 30 dollars a month to store in icloudcor use a google reader slow to the Internet connection when everything's fine here. Apparently Applow programmers do not believe in sharing of multimedia files between two users on the same device, even if a PC does that very well. My choice here is so far have duplicates of all the photos, music and videos loaded on the disc for me and my wife, charge all the media for an external hard drive which for some reason any all Apple programs will share, or return the mac to another PC that will be able to make several connections with sharing music and photos. Apple if you are reading this you are 10 years behind on that. Not everyone is born in the last five years and bought their music on iTunes to be able to use home sharing. Home sharing cannot help this. your applications should be able to be told to use the media files shared without import copies to readers of the user. I am very disappointed. Someone else has any ideas for that?  I have pictures, not iPhoto. I have a week more to be able to return it. I'm not interested in making a fake account that is always connected to share or maintaining of me constantly connected. It should have been easy, I had to be happy to play with new software.

Photos, iPhoto and iTunes libraries must appear on an external hard drive that is formatted as shown below to be used by multiple users on the same Mac:

So get a properly formatted external HD and move your iPhoto/pictures of her as well as your iTunes library.  This way all your iMac users can access and use both libraries.

An alternative to the external HD method is to partition your internal hard drive into two partitions, one for libraries.  It is formatted as shown above and be large enough to contain the libraries and allow the expansion of libraries.

  • I can't put one of my photos as a background. It comes up with 'The file that c:\users\daniel\appdata\roaming\microsoft\windows Photo Gallery\Windows Photo Gallery wallpaper.jpg could not be written. Please help me.

Hi, I have problems on developing an image as a wallpaper on my laptop.

It comes up with 'The file that c:\users\daniel\appdata\roaming\microsoft\windows Photo Gallery\Windows Photo Gallery wallpaper.jpg could not be written.

I tried right click and do it the long way to go to appearance and personalization in the control panel in the start menu. None of these work and I wonder why it's happening.

my computer is Windows vista Home premium and is about half a year. If anyone knows how to solve the problem of it not allow me to set a background please give me suggestions.

    Dan

Treat it as a corrupted user file.  To fix this usehttp://windows.microsoft.com/en-AU/windows-vista/Fix-a-corrupted-user-profile.  Use the new administrator account to do this.  Follow the directions given and everything will be fine and your new admin account should work normally.  Once you have ccnfired you can access, to all your acccess all of your programs and files, you can delete the old user obsolete and corrupt.

That's all there is to it.  Now that we know, this is the profile and not the system, the solution has been set for us.

I hope this helps. Feel free to post back with any questions as you go along.

    Good luck!

You can connect otherwise?  USB or FireWire or love at first sight?  You can connect both machines and start the one you want to transfer to target disk mode.  If your other machine is up and running with an account on it and you just want to move files, you can simply drag and drop the FRO the machine mounted TDM, or you can use the migration wizard.

Or, if the other machine still starts and runs, you can start both computers and connect to the same wifi network and share the hard drive like machines on the network.  Access them in the finder on the new machine files and drag-and - drop, or use the wizard migration, on wifi.

    original title: browser

It's really a matter of personal preference. He has Firefox, Chrome, Safari and many more. They have differences, but as long as you have a decent security program, it is really important that you use. Try a few and see what you think. They are easy to install and easy to remove. Most will import your Favorites during the installation.

    original title: backup of files

My wife and I use the same computer, but have different usernames (accounts).  My question is: when a backup occurs files, two files users are saved, or files for each user must be backed up separately?

    Hi toad133,

    ·         What type of backup that you talk too much?

If you are referring to the automatic backup there backup everything that you have selected or defined to be backed up.

If you are referring to the manual backup backs up what settings or files that you select to backup such as emails or files.

How to transfer files from one user to another under Vista?

A simple way is to move the file to the Public folder.
Public folder is accessible by all users.

    How...
Right click on the file > click Move To > navigate to the Public folder > click on move.

If you do not Move To option in your right click context Menu, here is the tutorial...

    Use an easier method.

PS you can also use methiod drag-and-drop rather than pass to the method. I prefer the latter.

In simple terms, simply copy it to an external drive and then copy them back as the other user.  If files are protected by DRM (Digital Rights Management) as iTunes from Apple or Napster, you will need to know your service music, if the files can be copied.
