We do not recommend installation from a backup, time machine, or migration of files. All programs must be installed from the installation files.

Please try to install from here: Download produced CS6

After downloading the installation files, see these instructions to extract the files and install your product.

  • Remove the Time Machine backups in a certain amount of time

I have an iMac in the House which is not backup because I have just updated to El Capitan, then now it says that the time Machine doesn't have enough space for a new backup (no doubt because my 200 + GB photo library moved to the new application Photos). Therefore, I need to get rid of some my time Machine backup. My MacBook Pro has almost 1 TB of backup files and I want to delete some, but I don't want to delete ALL my files backup, just in case I need something from him. Is it possible to delete the backups in a certain interval of time quickly, in order to keep all my backups and delete the 'old'? I know that you can delete the backups one by one, but the first backup of my MacBook was in 2014, and I don't want to have to go through 100 backups one by one to manually remove all the...

Time machine records differences, so delete a backup may stop all your backups made subsequently. Here are some tips on how do it safely for ti:

  • Time machine: old back to merge with another of

    Hello

I have a problem my back disc is full. And I have similar backups. whenever time machine backs up all the files (I thought it automatically adds only new... boh.) Anyway could you suggest me how to merge the old backups in order to keep a backup with older and newer files in the corresponding folders? Can I do it manually, but what paths of files across? I know on the restoration in disk utility, but is used to copy a disc shape to another, I read. I have all in one disc, and I want to do new backup now that the mac is new. Thank you very much. Guido

I suggest that you forget about 'fusion' backups Time Machine. Time Machine backups are complex, they contain several levels of permissions and access rules to prevent users from editing, display or delete data belonging to others (or system files).

Time Machine also manages the size of backup itself, so even if you manage to make "a big backup" eventually he will get full & TM will remove the oldest copies (often without warning).

Apple don't support editing, merging, or otherwise change the backups Time Machine.

You would be wiser to upgrade the old backup in a safe place and start a new backup to a new disk. If you need old files you can retrieve them from the old backup.

Another option is to make a copy of your important data for archiving. Simply copy these files to another disk instead of depend only on the Time Machine backups.

  • Where are the time Machine connects to Sierra?

Running Sierra on a late 2009 iMac. Time Machine works well and updated regularly. However the Time Machine buddy Widget shows all the information. Study using the Console indicates that the TM log entries are to be absent in Syslog. Nothing shows using the "backupd" as a filter on the system log. Under Diagnostics and usage data, I see information for the type of backup and "NOERROR" for completion.

Does anyone know what has changed in the Sierra? Or is it my unit?

Boyfriend of Time Machine does not work with Sierra

Console is 'redesigned', extraction of newspapers can be difficult...

    But!

You can copy the lines of command in Terminal to see the logs of Time Machine ("TM on the fly" and "History of TM")

    Since this discussion started I see how activity time Machine Console with macOS Sierra;

    By copying this command (from John Galt) line in the Terminal I can view TM-history-logs for a few days back;

    Newspaper show - predicate "subsystem =="com.apple.TimeMachine"'-info | grep ' upd: (' | cut-c - 1-19 140-999)

This command line also gives information of a TM running 'on the fly', but after the TM copy I have to put in the line of command again TM start-up for a new copy (I can live with that...)

By copying this command (from chockosmund) line in the Terminal I see what TM is ding on the fly, but did not get the newspaper story.

the log stream - style syslog - predicate 'contains a [cd] 'Time Machine' senderImagePath' - info

This command line is that Terminal shows constantly new TM-logs.

Thank you John Galt and chuckosmund!

I have a separate Terminal office-space computer were I can watch how TM is progressing.

    Hope that answers your question.

  • Once again the value of the Time Machine

I did install clean and fresh for the new OS El Capitan, erasing any ssd drive, where I imported all the data external Yosemite Backup by usb drive.

I used the airport Time Capsule for 2 years in Yosemite and now I want to connect to El capitan, but I wonder if I lost inside TC previous data.

My field of application must Add new backup of El Capitan, keeping the previous Time Capsule content (of course if there is free space!)

This may occur for use transport CANADA data if I forgot import specific data.

How can I join TC El Capitan please? Suggestions?

Your original (from Yosemite) backups for the past two years are still on your time capsule to the sparsebundle disk image.  You have done a clean install of OS X El Capitan and retrieved the data and the settings you wanted from your Time Machine backup.  What you need to do is then open Time Machine preferences and choose "select disk" - and re - select your Time Capsule.  A new backup will start (and it will be a full backup) - but it will not overwrite your original historical backups of Yosemite - they will remain separate within the sparsebundle.  A quick glance-, it may seem like they are gone - but Time Machine will show you only the backups for the latest version of Mac OS X by default.  You can 'Browse other backup disks' hold down the option key when you click the Time Machine icon in the menu bar.  If you need to restore your whole machine to Yosemite or to a point before installing El Capitan - the "Time Machine backup restore" option in the recovery partition will allow you to review and select the old backups of Yosemite.

To "do" to ensure that your time capsule is not running out of space.  If space is low - there is a risk of Time Machine, remove older backups.

If you believe that there is a lack of disk space on the time capsule - another option would be to create a new folder in the root of the time Capsule and name it "old backups.  Drag the sparsebundle existing in the new folder.  The move operation must be almost instantaneous.  Time Machine will no longer see the sparsebundle and will not attempt to clean or to crush it.  When the next backup run - it will create a new image of sparsebundle containing a full backup to the root of the time Capsule.  You can always restore (if necessary) of the sparsebundle you have hidden in the folder "old backups.

A third option (if disk space is very limited) would be to move the sparsebundle existing in the folder "Old backups" and allow Time Machine to create a new sparsebundle.  At the same time - you can copy the old sparsebundle to another drive somewhere - and then delete it from the time Capsule to free up space.

  • I can't remove the time machine backups, I put it in the trash

My backup disk is almost full, and I want to take on a value of years of backup files until I can get a new backup drive to perform other files that I want to keep. I tried their erasure of the finder inside the time machine, but nothing happened. I sent them to the trash, and they seem to have disappeared from my external backup drive, but are now stuck in the trash. I left the machine running all night to see that it says it cannot remove these files because they are locked. Can you please tell me what I should do now?

    Thank you

    Hello Suzanne,.

Go to the trash and use "Put" place files back where they belong. Time Machine is designed to remove automatically the old backup when it is full.

  • Door key lost in the time machine backup

    Dear community,

Because I had trouble with the speed of my MacBook Pro (and nothing else developed), I had to set up entirely new.

Before installing El Capitan, my MacBook Pro (starting 2011) ran on Yosemite 10.10.5. I made two backups with time machine, generated a bootable El Capitan installation USB key, in format Macintosh HD, installed at El Capitan and ran all the updates. The system works well, everything works perfectly and my Mac is fast again. Now, I manually copy things that I need in my system of charges.

Here, the problem is: I can't find the old keychain file in the time machine backup!

Keychain works with the keys stored in iCloud. However, the other buttons are gone.

As I discovered, ~/Library/Keychains is hidden. I did it visible on my system running. However, this does not work in the backup file. It remains hidden or - worse - have not been stored in the backup. I don't know that I have excluded from time machine backup only two totally different folders (dropbox and movies).

You have any ideas how I can find my keychain (login.keychain if my search was right) in the time machine backup?

Thanks a lot for your help!

Time Machine, please press the shift-command-C key combination. The windshield will show the mounted volumes. All snapshots should now be accessible. Select the one you want and search for files to restore.

If you need to restore from a backup of the hidden user library folder, first select a snapshot, and then press shift-command-G. A go to the folder dialog box opens. In this document, you enter the path to the folder. The dialog box will help you by automatically filling parts of the path when you start typing.

The path starts with the slash character ("/"). Enter that. The rest of the parts is separated by slashes.

The next part is the date and time of the current snapshot. Enter a '2', and the rest of the date should be filled in automatically. Press the right arrow key to access the end of the path. Enter a slash to start the next game.

Next is the volume name (usually "Macintosh HD" unless you assigned a different name.) Start typing, then jump to the end and enter a slash.

The next part is 'Users', followed by a slash.

Then is your short user name. It is also the name of your home folder, which is represented by an icon of the House in the sidebar of a Finder window.

Finally, enter "Library", and then press return. You should now be in the library folder. From there, you can move like in the Finder. You can also select another snapshot of the same folder.

I have a new HD but cannot set up encryption with system preferences. After ten minutes, I get the following error message:

Apparently, I need to set up the HD in this way:

    • If you are using an external drive connected to your Mac, use disk utility to make sure that your backup disk is formatted in HFS + extended (journaled) and is the partition type GUID Partition Table (GPT)

It is not an option for the HFS + and so I used; OS x EXTENDED (journaled). GUID is ok.

Can someone let me know what I need to do.

    Thank you

Formatting: GUID Partition Table, OS X Extended (journaled).    (it is HFS +)

For TimeMachine at best to a partition only.

Do it again if necessary, then disconnect, reconnect, Start Time Machine preferences and "select disk".

  • Applications do not appear in the Time Machine

I'm running OS X on a MacBook Pro Retina display 10.11.5.

I accidentally deleted a request of my application, so I went to restore from Time Machine. When I opened the Time Machine, nothing in the application except the Utilities folder.

The Application folder is NOT excluded from Time Machine backups.

  • What exactly does the Time Machine backup?

What exactly does the Time Machine backup?

We have a Mac Pro towers (NOT for sale) and Mac mini with several hard drives installed internally.   Time Machine backup all internal disks or just the boot disk?   This can be configured?

Time Machine backs up your default boot partition. However, if you have more than one drive or partition on your Mac (and it is formatted in "Mac OS extended (journaled)"), you can set the Time Machine to save these drives too. You can do this by removing these drives from the list of excluded items in System-> Time Machine-> Options... Preferences, so that the next backup will include all internal hard drives or partitions that you want to back up too.
