  I have a Setup dual monitor on my Windows XP machine.  Not sure if this is part of it.  My office is split between the two monitors.

  The problem is that, once you have maximized the window workspace, leaving only the small window visible, CVI remembers it's your preferred window combination: a minor windows visible and minimal workspace. Switch to a different application, and then return to CVI (via Alt + Tab) does not change this combination.

  This is different from what happens usually when you shrink the last window of a multi-window application. When you do this, you are effectively minimizing the application itself, and not a single one of its windows. This distinction is not always obvious but, depending on the operating system is concerned, they are indeed different actions. When the application itself is reduced, then it will be restored by simply Alt + Tab in the application. But when an individual window is reduced, this window is not automatically restored. In your case, when minimize you the window workspace, you reduced that window, not the entire application.

  When this situation occurs, you will usually need to explicitly restore the individual window in the taskbar. Depending on your operating system, can sometimes be difficult to find.   I was working on Firefox when I had to reduce the window of the browser. I noticed that earlier, all the tabs in the window would resize automatically to fit the new window size.
