Missing files after "Repair Windows" Trojan
I am running Vista on a Dell laptop and just delete the Trojan "Windows repair". The problem I'm having now, is that I can't find any of my documents and photos. All my files say they are empty. I hope they are hidden. What should I do and if files are lost? Any help, I would appeciate.
I don't know about dropbox.
But having multiple copies of your personal documents on other than computer systems, might be a good idea.
I suggested Skydrive because it is 25 GB of free space on reliable microsoft server. regarding the sync, skydrive acts more like Solution Explorer.

Office files and missing files after reboot. Windows XP
I have a user who uninstalled Acrobat 8 Professional and when they restarted and stored in their profile all the icons and files have disappeared. I tried to do a system restore to the point before the uninstall and still no luck. Everything that is related to the profile is always functional (i.e. printers network, Outlook settings, network drives.) It's like just wiped profile or delete Desktop folder.

Iolo System Mechanic deep cleaning has totally deleted my Windows Installer Service folder (and perhaps my RPC end point mapper file) on my Vista Home Premium PC. I looked into MSCONFIG and they are gone! It has been too long to do a system restore or other functions of the round trip. Q: if I buy the Windows 7 upgrade, it also installs? It will make Windows Installer service (and RPC end point Mapper) reappear? If not, how to get support from Microsoft? I already tried all 4 methods in article ID 2642495 re: find the Windows Installer service. I have now 10 MS Important that cannot install updates because missing the file of the Windows Installer service. Personal support of Iolo System Mechanic were NO help. Thanks in advance.

Error code: 0xc0000034 missing file /BCD in Windows 8
* Original title: help! Error code: file missing /BCD 0xc0000034 Windows 8!
Hello
I have a Zoo-storm and I seem to have a lack file start.
The error code is 0xc0000034 and the missing file is /BCD.
I do not know the use of this file, but it seems important to me.
I called the ZooStorm company and they said I should have a drive, but I do not have this disc.
I really don't like if I have to completely wipe the computer but I need this problem soon.
Help, please
Tyler
The link you provided above comes up with a message "page cannot be found".
I have now solved the problem by using the BCDBoot command, but it took a week of research and a lot of trail and error, while I have it might have solved the first day if the BCDBoot instructions above had been better.
Here are the BCDBoot instructions above:
1. press SHIFT + F10 when you are in the screen install Windows, elevated to the starting command prompt will now open.
2. type DISKPART command
3. Enter the command LIST VOLUME, note volume don't...
4. Enter the command SELECT VOLUME 'no' (eg1, 2, 3) mine was 3
5. Enter the command ASSIGN LETTER = Z and OUTPUT
6 enter the BCDBoot c:\Windows /s f: UEFI z: command
7. close and restart. Here are my suggestions for improvement:
Point 3. above: the statement: "Note volume no....". "is useless, because it gives no indication of what are the criteria to use. I thought initially that files would be copied from the dvd of recovery on the c drive, so I noted the volume for drive c. In fact, the files are copied from the c drive, so the volume no note is one containing the BCD files used at startup, which is different. It is not obvious to me how to choose the correct volume. I guessed that it was volume 2 on my Dell laptop (labeled something like ESP or EPS) and which proved correct. Otherwise, it's trial and error again.
Point 5. above: it should be two lines, as there are has two separate orders to enter.
Point 6. above: I think that the two points between f and UEFI should not be there.
I hope that these suggestions are useful to other people, assuming they notice that there is a Page 2.

Missing files after system restore
My computer crashed in what appeared to be a virus. I did a system restore, but now I always have missing files. I can find them if I search but I can't navigate to them. Any ideas?
Never mind. The restored files were hidden... weird.

Creative cloud demanded an update yesterday. Once the complete update, my Cloud Files all a designer began a process of course. Boring, I thought, but no big deal. Turn, it was a big deal. Miss me him now all older files until July 2015.
Then I connected my online account thinking maybe it was some sort of timing issue. Shows exactly the same thing. Unable to find a single file like July 2015, I have several. The Archives section shows a handful of my missing files, but when I click on Restore, they disappear from the archives section and disappear completely.
I contact Adobe support via online chat, and that has proved so far to be a waste of time. Can not pass on the phone as all the options related to creative cloud of the results in a message saying that there is no phone support for my product.
-Update
Finally received assistance via chat. Come and discover, all my missing files were contained in a file in the section of the online archives. Here, it is not possible to display the contents of the folder, size, etc. Several folders and files are duplicated on all restore. With folders, entitled source files contain only files from 8 July 2015. Duplicated, to which is added a '1', contains only files of 7 July 2015 and more. Now, to browse, comparison and merging everything back to the way his supposed to be.
At this point, all I can say is what a waste and waste of time!
Lessons learned: Before the creative cloud update, be sure to create a backup of all your creative cloud documents!

Missing files after changing computer with Adobe first Elements 9
Hello
I recently changed my computer, and I installed Adobe first Elements 9, I had on my old computer. I actually changed my computer hoping that it would be better, because she was always crashing on my old computer. I tested it, I created a new project and everything went very well. But of course, I also want to continue my old editing projects. The problem is that, even if my library is organized as with my old computer, Adobe Premiere is not able to associate the files in my projects at their source. If each of my files (sounds, videos, music, effects) are not recognized, and I need to restore one by one by clicking on them and the research in my library. Now, I quickly realized that I could not go that way, because I'm editing of thousands of files.
But I have trouble believing that there is no way first can recognize files by itself, like iTunes can do when the music is missing. I mean, first knows exactly how the missing files are supposed to be, then why couldn't he find them? Does this mean that if my computer was broken, I could not able to change my old projects on a new? This makes no sense.
Thanks in advance,
MrJoshameeGibbs
MrJoshameeGibbs
Thanks for the reply.
To check the version... Please open Premiere Elements in his chronology workspace. Go to Menu Help / about Premiere Elements. The top of the screen that opens should include a version 9.0.1 if you have downloaded and installed version 9.0.1 and work from it.
Please consider the following strategy and see if it solves the problem... just do it for a project as a series of tests...
1. back to the computer 1, open your project and determine that it opens with the media source associated with the project.
2 create a folder "copied" using File Menu/project Archiver and its choice of copy a project.
3 transfer the folder "copied" 2 hard drive... maybe with USB Flash drive.
4. Ouvrezledossier "copied" on computer 2, find the project file (PREL), right click, select open with, and then Adobe Premiere elements 9.0.
The project opens in the Adobe Premiere elements 9.0 on the computer 2 with all its current source media?

\Windows\system32\config\system MISSING file of repair
I have a T400 who HAD an XP Pro operating system... Google chrome has frozen the system and I did a hard reboot and the computer had lost the configuration of the registry file. Microsoft recommends that the oem disc should be used, instead of a commercial version of the operating system. It's my DISLIKE for the purchase of a laptop computer with the OEM software, without a backup disk. If there is a problem, the manufacturer generally is going to drag you dry. I thought that this stratagem of Toshiba, but not of Lenovo. Hell, you can't even ask 'em to a disk if you are out of warranty. Stone wall. Why is it not possible to ask even an OEM Lenovo restore disk? Unless you have the security privileges, there is no way to even ask a repair disc: repair file \windows\system32\config\system MISSING this thread has addressed the topic of config file missing and from the looks of it nothing of this worked when even though the guy has abandoned and performed a clean installation and lost three days : http://forums.lenovo.com/t5/T61-and-prior-T-series-ThinkPad/How-to-repair-corrupt-windows-system32-c... This is not the problem of problems it's despair. I have a lot of files on that drive the need for recovery. I just want to get some tips on how to record what I have and do not go the trouble to reinstall my entire library of software and then having to reinvent my lost files. Ridiculous. Where there is an article on what works?
