Missing files in the document library

Hello!

So I got a few files in the folder my documents. I have them accidentally deleted/removed from the library and the library folder, so that the files are missing.

Is there a possibility that I could get back them?

Thank you!

I recommend you do this:

  1. Download, install and run the Restore of System Explorer. It's free.
  2. Set up a System Restore Point that is earlier than the loss of your files.
  3. Carefully review the records and files under \Users\Edgars. If or when you find the missing files, copy them to your usual files. If there are other files such as \HolidayPictures, review them too.
  4. Treats this event as a sharp reminder that important files should always be stored on two independent media, usually on the internal drive and an external hard drive in a USB enclosure.

  • files in the Documents library disappear

When I select the document library, and I try to use "arrange by" to sort the files by something else that documents all files disappear and the library says it has 0 files. If I reopen the tab "arrange by" and select 'folders' everything reappears. If I go directly to the root directory and select "My Documents" then everything works fine. What is the point of a library, if I create a folder on the desktop to have sortable directories?

    Hi aguila7,

To resolve this issue, follow these steps:

    1. Click Start and then click computer.

2 right-click Documents in the navigation pane, and then select delete.

    3. click on Yes if asked for confirmation.

Note: Remove a library does not delete the contents of the included folders. However, you need to add or include your folders manually, if required.

Then, in the Windows Explorer navigation pane, click libraries and click restore default libraries.

This re-creates the library that was removed earlier. This option only restores the default libraries.

  • Create subfolders in the folder in the document library

I am trying to create subfolders in a particular file, I have in the document library.  I tried right click, select new, and there is no option to create a new folder.  I tried to create a folder on the desktop and by dragging in the folder and the files came the file disappeared!  For example, I managed to trade shows, so each show has its own file in the document library.  For each show, I want to create subfolders for contracts, menus, etc.  I hope that this option has not disappeared in the new OS!

    Hello

You should be able to simply locate the folder in the library where you want to create the subfolder.

Double-click the folder to open it then right click inside this folder and select the new/folder option.

When you open the library, look at the top-right of the window and make sure that this folder is selected in the Arrange by: menu drop-down.

If you have this option is set to something like name or modification Date, then you will not see the new/folder option.

Let us know if that helps.

  • Windows search fails to find the files in the Documents folder

Original title: Windows 7 search finds no files, even though all the settings have been verified and the search index has been rebuilt

I recently bought a new Dell laptop Studio 1558 with Windows 7 Home Premium and moved through several hundred documents from my old PC to the new folder 'My Documents'.

As many others have found, Windows Search has been completely useless. She seems to have no problem finding files in the music folder or image, but anything in the document library is invisible to the it - even if I get in a subfolder small for a file name I see just in front of me, Windows Search will announce that "no element not corresponding to your search.

I took a number of steps so far to fix the problem, which none have worked:

    1. I checked which locations are indexed for search and ensured that the document library is among them (as well as all of my C drive).

    2. I checked that appropriate file extensions (.doc .docx .pdf, etc.) are all selected from the "File Types" list in indexing options (although I noticed that 'Description of filter' for .pdf bed "Registered IFilert is not found" - not this problem with Word documents).

    3. I have deleted and rebuilt the search index.

    4. I ran the troubleshooting Windows 7 Search tool, which reports that it cannot find any problems.

    5. I have read that some problems with Windows 7 search can be solved by changing a registry key (http://www.intowindows.com/how-to-fix-windows-7-search-problems/) but when I navigate to the folder in my registry, only following three keys are here (not the one mentioned in the difficulty):

    • HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\FolderTypes\ {0B2BAAEB-0042-4DCA-AA4D-3EE8648D03E5}
    • HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\FolderTypes\ {36011842-DCCC-40FE-AA3D-6177EA401788}
    • HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\FolderTypes\ {59BD6DD1-5CEC-4D7E-9AD2-ECC64154418D}

A couple of things, I said - if I create a new word document and save it, Windows Search seems to immediately get back on it and is able to find. I also noticed that at first when I opened one of the word documents that have been transferred over the old PC and then closed it again, Windows Search picked up on it and could find it. So I went to try to open and close then all of my documents (an arduous task...), but the subject to halfway through Windows Search has ceased to be able to find them.

All Word documents using Microsoft Word 2007 in .doc or .docx format, although the problem also applies to Excel, PDF and image files, so I don't think that the problem is with the word itself.

I have tried everything I can think so far, including all the solutions, I could see suggested in previous discussions. I really need the search function working to effectively use my laptop so that any help would be welcome!

    Thank you, Jack

Santosh thanks, I checked the permissions for the appropriate files and SYSTEM was present, which doesn't seem to be the problem. However, I found a solution that might work for other people are having the same problem.

I noticed that if I changed the location of the files, Windows search suddenly seems to become aware that they existed and then indexed and followed them correctly - even if they were subsequently moved back to the original location. I just created a temporary folder outside my library of documents and then each subfolder in the folder my documents him and then come back, one by one. It was a bit laborious but the problem solved - I know not why it worked, but all the old files are now indexed and appear correctly when you use Windows Search, and it seems not to have any problems, follow-up of the newly created files.

    Cheers, Jack

  • Case of reunification in Windows 7 libraries: I wish that the library I created to display as the document library

original title: folder in Windows 7 libraries

The document library by default for Windows 7 includes two files.  When I select the document library, the contents of these two files is displayed in the right pane without grouping.

I created a new library for myself and it adds files.  When I select that library, the contents of the folders that I placed inside appear in the right pane, grouped by folder.

As far as I'm concerned. the grouping is just clutter, and I would the library I created to display as the document library.  Is there a way I can turn on and off grouping in the view "organize by folder"?

I found the answer after I posted the question.  If you right-click in the free space (but not on any icons) in the pane right when a library is selected, you get a context menu that allows you to change the grouping of this component.  You can't have the same menu by right-clicking in the library in the left pane.  I have not found a way to change the grouping behavior using the diaglogs of folder options.

I suggest that the list of tasks Microsoft must include an entry to add to the aid system so a search for 'group' and 'library' comes up with something related to the grouping in a library display.

    Thanks for the reply.

  • All the files in the Documents are now in a big list - stripped records

Open my library > Documents to find my entire list of files in a huge list - all the folders are gone (or hidden?).  I DO not see the files in c:\Users[user-name]\Music\iTunes\iTunes but no library > documents from windows Explorer.

This is a setting that got screwed upward (I hope)?  Thanks in advance.

Try right click on an empty spot inside the document library and selecting "organize by > Folder.

  • Are you limited the number of subfolders that can be added to a current folder within the document library?

    Original title: new folders

Are you limited the number of subfolders that can be added to a current folder within the document library? I tried to add folders using the new folder tab and it will create not one. I hope I make this clear enough question. I'm not computer savy.  Thanks for your help.

If you cannot create a new folder anywhere, this could apply.

Do, or you have installed Chrome? It appears that an update of Chrome, (mid April 2013), is responsible for the loss of the option new folder. Even if Chrome has not been installed, here are two patches.

  • Support fax and scanning of the document library, Windows open and view/attachments

How can I set up Windows Fax and Scan to view scanned documents (which record in the document library, where I want to see/open/send as an attachment) such as Microsoft Word or Adobe Acrobat (PDF) without getting "windings" on the word or the 'not taken care... or damaged file' on Acrobat?

    Hello

Perform the steps in the article and see if the problem persists.

Note: Given that the scanned document is an image, it can be opened in Word format, instead it can be inserted into the Word file.

    Hope that helps.
  • Does not include the network folder in the document library

I'm a network administrator.  I created a %username\documents for all users folder and apply the necessary security.  For most users, I make this folder available offline, and I'm able to include in their document library.

For the last two users I did this, but failed to include the folder in the Documents, the error that it is not indexed.  On the server, the drive and the subfolders are all able to be indexed in the settings.  The file is properly sync to the computer.  But I still get the error that the file is not indexed.
I have disabled the sync on the computer, has added the formatdatabase reg key to restart the computer, turned on files offline, set the folder resynchronization, complete synchronization, still cannot add to the document library.
Then, in case there was a kind of corruption of the files on the server, I deleted the network folder, disabled the files offline on your PC, erased the cache of offline files, created a new documents folder on the server with the correct permissions, activated files offline, synchronize the empty file to the PC and tried to add the new folder of network document to the document library on the PC.  Failed because the empty folder is not indexed.  Once again.
    Any ideas?

    The fixed.

I needed to turn on the Windows search function to make it work.  You can synchronize files without it, but needs apparently indexing Windows Search to work.  Which is weird, because the Windows Search service can be disabled and it still works.
I rode on a group policy to disable windows search service because people are complaining about their PC slows down during the reindex operation.  This did not affect the ability to synchronize the network drives or to include them in the libraries.
On both machines on which I had the problem Windows search had been uninstalled programs and features (which is not really uninstall it, only it hides in Windows features.)
Conclusion: OK to disable windows search service, do not uninstall or disable the function.
  • How to include folders to D: drive, specifically in Documents public, not only in the document library?

Windows 7 Pro 64 - bit SP1: how to include records of the D: drive in public Documents so that they become automatically visible to each user who opens his library of Documents? At present, I can only include these folders in the document library, invisible to other users. I don't want to load large files physically in the C: drive, where public Documents.

You can do this easily because public Documents is a folder, not a library.

You can place junction points in public Documents that point to folders on the disk D:\.

To do this open a command prompt by typing cmd in the box to start the search, made a right click the program cmd that appears in the search results and click 'run as administrator '. Type the following command and press ENTER:

    MKLINK /J "C:\Users\Public\Documents\Folder" "D:\Folder.

    http://TechNet.Microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc770988 (v = ws.10) .aspx

You may need to adjust the permissions of files and folders on the drive D:\ so that all users can have access to them.

I have not tested it; so be cautious.

  • How to separate the Raw files of the photo library

My photo library is over 700 GB. I have a lot of raw files that are 30 MB or more. How can we separate the raw files in a separate file or a separate library?

Duplicate your photos library in the Finder and then remove all the BULLIES of the first library photos and all photos that are not the RAW files of the second library.

You can search for RAW photos with a smart album:

    File > new Smart Album

Then set the rule set to "picture is GROSS."

Of the other library use the rule 'The Photo is not BELIEVED'.

  • Lost the location of My Documents in the document library

I managed to lose the location of 'My Documents' in the document library. The simple restoration of libraries thing does not work. There was a recent solution given to a person who had lost their "Public Documents". I followed this line without success. Thanks for your suggestions.

I think that the creation of a new library can be the simplest answer. Thank you.
