Missing iTunes library

After an update in June my content from iTunes library does not appear in iTunes.  The library still has all the content but does not appear after the reset location of library.  I tried to copy the library another folder and copy the old itl file but still not able to see my content, including playlists and all music.  All that shows is what was purchased from the iTunes Store.

  • Missing iTunes library and playlists... Please help

Hello, this morning to my horror, I started iTunes and all my 20,000 songs and playlists, I spent years developing are absent.  Would it be a problem with my hard drive or a disk that allows iTunes search startup files?  I checked the path to the file and it seems that the music is always in their folders however re import all would not get the playlists back and on top of that the last backup I have was from 2014.    Can anyone help

It is possible that your iTunes library file has become corrupted, so iTunes has started up with a new iTunes library.  Or you may have accidentally set iTunes to open a new iTunes library.  If you use the default configuration, the iTunes library file is located in your iTunes folder and called iTunes Library.itl, to this place

[startup drive] /Users/ [your name of user account] / music/iTunes/iTunes Library.itl

NOTE: The iTunes library file is a database that defines your iTunes library.  It contains no files media real iTunes, which are organized and stored separately.

Go to this location using a Finder window; What do you see?  If you see a file called iTunes Library.itl here, quit iTunes (if you run) and use this method to open iTunes using this library file.

Open a different iTunes library file or create a new - Apple Support

If it does not open or if you still get a library empty in iTunes, you use Time Machine to back up your boot drive?  If you do, you can restore your library iTunes from a State of backup file (date/time) when it does not have this problem.  In your case, it would be immediately before the last time you used iTunes with a working library.  Time Machine does incremental backups every hour, so this should be very close to when the problem occurred, if your iTunes library should be updated more often.

If you do not have a backup (why not?) of your user data, look in the folder iTunes for a folder called Previous iTunes Libraries.  iTunes, these backups when there is a major update to iTunes, in the case where something bad happens or the user must go back to a previous version of iTunes for some reason any.  If the last backup of 'previous' iTunes library is not too old, you can use this library file to open iTunes, using this procedure

  • Missing iTunes Library only on 1 device

After listening to music all day on my iPhone iTunes 6 I exit the application and came back two hours later in an EMPTY library.  I googled this question instructions and saw me go into itunes (MAC or Windows) and try to get back to the previous folder. However, when I pulled up to my itunes on my MAC all my music is there.  On a device (phone), I have an empty, and on another library (MAC) is no problem.  Help, please!

It's strange. Normally, your device will be synchronized with your Mac and will transfer all new purchases on your device when it is connected via the cable of the lightning. If it isn't auto-sync, try to go to iTunes > phone tap top-left icon > and click on synchronize in the lower-right.

  • listed in the iTunes library, but when try to read message indicates missing.

My iTunes are listed, but when I try to play I received the message that they do not find.  When I try to add music to the slideshow, the entire library is not listed only a few songs.

If you know where is the iTunes library:

Open iTunes while holding the Alt/option key, iTunes asks you which library to open, iTunes point to him. He later recalled.

  • Edition of songs in the iTunes library

Now, something seems to be missing. In the past, when I wanted to make a correction or add information about a song from my iTunes library, I just skimmed the text cursor, I wanted to change. Finally, I would have the opportunity to make changes. Now, there seems to be no way to make changes. A typical example is a song whose title has not been demonstrated (I have a lot of that). In any case, I found it impossible to type in the title. How can I do?

    Have you tried this:

Highlight a song in your list. Go to the Edit menu and choose read information. You can make changes in the pop-up window.

(It was in the Preferences section. None. I found it by chance.)

  • Path missing iTunes Songs (already tried script)

    Hello

recently I moved all of my itunes library to my new computer (Mac-> Windows), I noticed that some songs bad location path, and I discovered that the songs with special characters (like aeioun, Yes, I'm Spanish) are those who have suffered from this problem.

ITunes can't find the songs automatically, said that almost the 2000 song are not and nothing else.

I'm used to manage xml and looked up in the itunes library xml file and to know that these songs with special characters did not alter his path to the new properly, they keep the way old-macintosh, something like "http://localhost \volumes\macintosh\music\blablabla\".

The thing is, I tried out solved with samsoft script, but the suggested path does not match my only current. I saw this script search paths similar to what itunes automatically creates, but in my case, I made my own path model (something like \music\%artist%\%artist%-%year%-%album%\%artist% - track - %title%).

In my xml library I set paths, but when I tried to rebuild the itl file, missing tons of songs and I got crazy once more.

Is it possible to code in hard itl file to replace this wrong paths? It's just replace 'file://localhost/volumes/macintosh/Music' ' file://localhost/D: / Music»

I think about modifying the script samsoft to correspond with my custom path, but I am a junior Javascript coder, and I have no idea how this VBS script works.

    Thank you!

    Empty/corrupted library iTunes after upgrade/crash

  • My iTunes library creates multiple listings for the same artist (spelled identically)

I use iTunes for years and thought I knew how to do everything that I need in there and solve any problem that I've run across.  But in the last 10-14 days, he began to behave strangely, and I'm completely stumped.  I don't know if it's a problem with a new version, if maybe my library file has become corrupted, or if I'm missing something obvious, but as someone who spends hours meticulously entering all the right data to my iTunes library, that drives me crazy.

For some reason any recently, iTunes has begun to create several artist registrations for a handful of artists in my library (in only general I have a LOT of material for.)  Thus, for example, when I scroll my iTunes under 'Artists' library I noticed that Bruce Springsteen four times:

Bruce Springsteen (12 albums, songs of 234)

Bruce Springsteen (16 albums, 201 songs)

Bruce Springsteen (2 albums, 22 songs)

Bruce Springsteen (2 albums, 41 song)

It would be only incredibly annoying, but it actually divides some albums through multiple "artists" so that securities 1,4,6,7 will be an artist under a listing and the rest on another.

I created a smart playlist with the criteria ' artist contains 'bruce' "selected all titles of springsteen and changed the artist on EACH of them to ensure that there is no variation in spelling or spacing.  It does not exist. (Springsteen is the worst offender, having four entries of artist, but there's another 3-4 artists who do the same thing)

It drives me crazy because there seems to be no rhyme or reason to it, and it is debilitating to my efforts to clean and organize my library.  I try to avoid manually recharge all my music in iTunes I have dozens of playlists I've spent hours creating and would not have to start over on those.

    Any suggestions?

You have already tried the first method, so try the other here:

  • (Corrupt) 12.3 without updating iTunes library

Today when I opened my iTunes library it saids me that iTunes library was damaged and about 2500 titles and almost all of my missing playlist (it seems that iTunes uses a previous library of mine, like 6 months ago or not). I tried with the last iTunes Library.itl file in the 'previous iTunes library' folder, but given that I haven't had an update, I found the file most recent was December last year (and I have downloaded more than 1000 songs and made a lot of new reading list since then). I also tried to import the iTunes Music Library.xml into my iTunes but it told me that a few pieces of "iTunes" Music Library.xml had not be imported because they cannot be found.

Thanks in advance for your help and sorry for my bad English

    Luca

See the empty/corrupted after upgrade/crash iTunes library. Is there the .tmp files in the iTunes folder? You have a Time Machine backup? It is quite easy to import new songs. It may be possible to recover playlists if they have been synchronized to a device.

  • IPod Classic (and iTunes library) from Windows to Mac

Hey ppl, can someone help me with this one?
My iPod Classic was initially connected to a PC, because I didn't have a Mac at the time. But I an and for a long time, and now I'm about to get a second.
I was put in place with the PC mostly because my iTunes library has nearly 500 stored cd and I use my iMac only for work, I didn't want to fill his 500 GB drive with iTunes library. But now that I'm about to take my work to a new Mac, I thought that it was time to move my iTunes library to Mac, and I did it with the help of an external hard drive.

Now, everything is ok with iTunes on Mac all the CDs and the works of art and library moved nicely.

But when I connected the iPod it syncs ok, but does not receive a new cd that I just uploaded on the Mac.

I have noticed that an already existing CD which I modified the work on the Mac, sync ok for the iPod, but not the new CD. The CD is an original, not a copy.
I think it has to do with the iPod having been registered to another computer. I allow them the Mac, but still the CD is not transferred to the iPod.
I want to get rid of my PC, but I need the iPod to work with the Mac.
Can someone tell me what I'm missing, or doing wrong?
    Thank you

I had checked the discussions over and over again before posting the question and do not find an answer, and now after posting the question, I found what solved my problem - iPod sync fine with the Mac. (to goodbye PC)

"Kenichi Watanabe 26 February 2016 06:04 Re: Ipod connects to itunes, but does not synchronize "
    in reply to Umphreys21

OK, that's fine.  So, just what is currently on the iPod is already in your new library iTunes, correct?

When you start with a new iTunes library and add your existing content, the iPod sees it as a new iTunes library, not the old one that was previously used to synchronize the iPod.  The partners from iPod to your new iTunes library and the Tower WE Auto Sync, follow these steps...

Select the iPod in iTunes (click on its button on the device on the horizontal bar) to display the parameters of the iPod in the iTunes window.  The side left (in the sidebar), under settings, click music.  Settings of music from the iPod screen is shown at right.

NOTE: All iPod songs that are not in your iTunes library will be lost.

Check the box to Sync music.  This turns ON Auto Sync (and associate the iPod to your new iTunes library).  If your library complete iTunes music can fit on iPod, choose the option to synchronize the entire music library.  Click apply.

On a separate note, since you started with a new iTunes library, you have added all your content to your backup, but you probably do not have the additional data (such as playlists, ratings, play head, date added, etc.).  Depending on how you have saved your iTunes data, it may be possible to restore your full (not only your media) iTunes library.  You need to be good with the help of your new iTunes library, but if you want more information, thanks for posting back. »

  • iTunes library on NAS shared with every Mac.

Okey, so I saw a lot of info on iTunes on a NAS share and I have read tons and tons of messages without a complete solution.

    So that's what I have today;

    1 Macbook Pro 15 "

    2 Macbook Pro 13 "

1 mini Mac (connected to my Samsung TV and the stereo downstairs)

1 NAS Synology 216 readers to play with 2x3GB

Remote-app on my iOS devices so that I can change the music on the stereo without a computer

Everything is connected to the same WiFi of course

I want to spend my whole library iTunes into ONE on the NAS and then I want to

    (1) in order to access all the music on all computers

2 (a) be able to add more music

    (b) sometimes I need to change the title of a song/album details may change the genre or add words etc.

iTunes on the NAS server is to create.

I compiled all the music in a library on the Macbook pro 15 "and used the following settings in iTunes under Advanced

    -Keep iTunes Media folder organized

-Copy files to iTunes Media folder when adding to library

-Sharing iTUnes library XML with other applications

Also changed genres and all about the songs/albums to make everything as I want

Moved the folder iTunes with everything on the NAS in music/iTunes

And hold the ALT key when starting iTunes and then I choose the music/iTunes and then it took a few minutes and asked if he should copy all files

    so I said yes here.

Now, it seems that I can share all the music on the NAS, but I can't

    1) click a song and change its genres, etc album name when I add the new music

    QUESTIONS

So is it possible that I missed something, so why can't I just edit?

Should I hold the ALT key and the library directly in NAS server folder and let them copy all files on the Mac Mini and the 2 13 "Macbook Pro is as well?

    Anyone who has this problem?

  • duplicated on two drives iTunes library HELP

I have an iTunes library on an external drive, the titles are listed on iTunes, but you must have the USB device to listen to music... I copied the contents of an another USB so that if one fails, it can play each other, file structure is exactly the same but when I select a title he cannot find the song... If I click on search and access the same file on the duplicate key then plays and offers to look for other missing files... It's as if they are the same but it will automatically be a link to a key and have to go to the path again so he can play on the other... Any ideas?

I was hoping I could just play it where ever I connected - is - it possible?

    Thank you

    Brad

Both devices get the same drive letter to Windows?  If this isn't the case, you can use the Windows disk management service to associate the same drive letter to each device in turn.

Thumb drives standard USB are not really reliable enough to be used for long-term storage and are of course subject to loss / theft / damage.  Taking also into account the fact that most current thumb drives (128 GB?) will not hold more than one library of size average, a better bet is to use a USB disk drive * for your library (with a second to support).  Also take a look at the user tip of Turningtest2 on do a split portable library that describes the structure of your iTunes library so that it is independent and can be stored on any appropriate device.  According to your description, you have your database iTunes on your PC's internal drive and media on external devices; It is, as you have discovered, more difficult to manage and also less likely to be regularly backed up and replicated on another computer, see Council of tt2 on your iTunes backup for Windows with SyncToy library for a recommended method to make and maintain backups.

    * My Installer use a disc of 2 TB USB 3.0 for my library 'master', with a similar on my desktop system disk, and a disc of 2 TB portable for use as a backup and also periodically update the Office of library system from that master.  I have a secondary home with another 2 TB drive - so altogether I have four copies of my library, which the three "secondary" are rarely more than a week that is not synchronized with the master, just to complicate things, I have two additional iTunes (completely different content main) libraries, using a two other drives of 2 TB and two 1 TB drives.

I just restored the iTunes folder and all subfolders, including multimedia content of amy (music, videos,...), on a drive hard new, because the old hard drive is broken.
