Missing Windows Explorer icon

I have been happily using Windows 7 on this laptop for a couple of years.  I now rely on the study of the records and files (several years of IP gold accumulated in thar files) using Windows Explorer.  I also use the taskbar to pin program icons and quick start or switch windows.  About three weeks ago, I lost the browser icon in the taskbar if went to programes, accessories for re pin icon.  No entry program to explore in the folder! Weird.  So I click with the right button on the icon start and gave the "start Windows Explorer" option under the option "Properties".  Clicked on it.  Everything started off very well.  More strange!  The program works well, but there is no mention of the program on the computer and no icon.  When the program runs a degenerated icon Explorer appears and when I right click on it, it announces itself as "network photo capture centre" is not Windows Explorer.   If I pin it to the taskbar it opens a window of the Explorer, but the path of the file in the open window is ftp://BRW0022585483D2/.  I tried to restore using a restore point to solve the problem and that did not work.

Any ideas how I can recover the missing icon?  Please notify.  The laptop is a Dell Latitude e4310 with an i 7 processor 64gig of RAM and an SSD hard drive.  Installing Windows 7 OEM supplied with the laptop is Windows 7 Professional installed SP1.

    Hello

I can't access my photos, videos, documents, etc. because I can't in my files anyway I have try. If I click on the icon in my taskbar Windows Explorer, it highlights as if it will open, but this just highlight fades and nothing happens as if I has not yet clicked (no error notice or anything).

When this happened enough times, I tried entering my Start menu and search bar "search programs and files". He showed me the results of research (such as the names of files in the start menu), so I know everything is still, but nothing happens when I click on them.

However, I can still download files online when a site gives me the ability to click a button in the Web site to do.

All this happens on and outside, and I don't know what are the is or what causes that actually get better at random.

Also: Something that occurs when Windows Explorer is working is that any attempt to open My Documents is blocking my computer. I can no longer access my documents unless I can search in the start menu (which, even once, does not always). I resorted to store my documents online because of this.

If anyone can help me to solve these problems, I would be very happy! I need my cell phone all the time while I'm in College, and while I'm at home.

  • Kill the "My Documents" folder in Windows Explorer for XP

Whenever I have called Windows Explorer in my copy of XP and then click on 'Files', the 'My Documents' folder is displayed.
Except that I do not use it and don't want it.
I tried in vain to get rid of him, but when I right click on it and press DELETE, it tells me that the content will not be deleted, only the icon, which would be nice.  But it's that - the icon remains.

You can't delete My Documents. This is a directory on the system. If you want Explorer to open up My Documents, you can change the shortcut to Explorer as follows:

Go to programs > Accessories - right click on the Windows Explorer icon, select properties and type or copy / paste the following text in the target box:

    % systemroot%\EXPLORER. EXE/e, c:

This will open the Explorer to C:\. You can also create a desktop for Windows Explorer with the same command icon. MS - MVP - Elephant Boy computers - don't panic!

How can I change my default settings so that Windows Explorer, downloads, etc., all open to the folder I chose instead of "libraries.

Here is an article on how to change this folder opens when you click on an icon in Windows Explorer:http://www.watchingthenet.com/how-to-change-windows-explorer-icon-to-open-a-diffierent-folder-in-windows-xp-and-vista.html.  I think this will do the trick. Otherwise, maybe the following can help (but I think that's the answer you're looking for).

Here's how to change the default template for a folder:http://www.vistax64.com/tutorials/70819-windows-explorer-folder-view-settings.html.  Default behavior is to select the model based on the first type of file placed in the folder (you must choose something).  Vista sets thefolder type template according to what are the types of files in the window and the settings display window Explorer. This will show you how to resetthe Windows Explorer folder view settings, disable Automatic folder Type discovery and increase theview of the folder cache to have Vista don't forget display settings, model of file type, size, or position of a specific window for when it was still closed to the location of specific path.  Keep in mind that it works, just a generic and holistic - it will not work for individual folders by folder.  That cannot be done in Vista.  But you can create shortcuts to the folders that you want and add to the desktop or right-click

It does not work with the Sub record under, Open with, open in a new tab (Internet Explorer), etc... dialog windows of type through the goodFile menu bar item. These don't seem to be able to have their size or their position to recall. For the latter, you can use the free programhttp://autosizer.en.softonic.com/to resize them.

Here is another article on how to change the display of the default folders in Vista (but she argues, it is not a perfect solution and can revert to the previous behavior is not as good as the two prior links provided:http://news.cnet.com/8301-13880_3-10019957-68.html.)

I hope this helps in your situation.

  • How can I clear the history in Windows Explorer at the same time?

    Hi all

If I right click on the Windows Explorer icon in the task bar, I see a history of the issues explored. How can I clear this list both? The only way I see is to remove each one folder at a time where I started but quickly realized that it would take a lot of time.

    SAL

I'm clearly not fire all wood today so I apologize once again.

These records listed are part of the jump list for Windows explore.  Right-click on the Start button & select Properties, and then select Customize.

At the bottom of the dialog box, set the number of recent items to display in jump lists to 0.  This will affect all the other lists of shortcuts as well.

  • Windows Explorer crashes and some actions, such as copying a file, are often dismissed by an error message

Since I switched to Windows 7 last year (a new computer), I had problem with Windows Explorer (NOT Internet Explorer).  (1) when I try to save a Word document in an existing folder, I get a message that says that I have no authority to modify files at this level.  If I record again, he will save but then IT breaks down (i.e. goes white and the monitor is frozen).  (2) if I open a record in US and right-click on a file, rather than not we'RE going to crash right here - same scenario.

It happens from time to time but now it happens almost every time I have use US or try to save a file.

I think I have solved the problem!

I found a site like the one I had last year.  As a result of his leadership, I did the following:

    1. right click on the Windows Explorer icon.  Right click on properties.  On the shortcut tab, under target, I found this parameter: % windir%\explorer.exe/n, / e, / select c:\users\alf\dropbox

    2. I deleted this setting and by the following cela: c:\users\alf.

Now, it seems to be functioning normally and WE default to the folder 'alf', where my main data is stored.

    Does make sense?

  • [SOLVED] Optical drive empty missing in Windows Explorer, but not in the folder of the computer or Device Manager. Windows 7 x 64 HP Pavilion dv6-3032tx

The problem: the optical drive [cd/dvd burner] icon is missing in Windows Explorer when no media inserted in the drive. Even if the optical drive icon in Windows Explorer when a disc is inserted in the drive.

However, the optical drive appears in 'Device Manager' and in 'Computer' folder or no media is inserted in the reader as to the latter.  This doesn't seem to be a hardware problem.  It is a Windows 7 problem [or character?], which seems to be set [or omitted] in Windows 8.

Here are the step by step process to solve this problem:

    1. open Windows Explorer [click on "Start" and type "Windows Explorer" in the search box, then click on the first result to the Summit, which is "Windows Explorer"]
    2. in Windows Explorer, click on "Organize" (top left of the window).
    3. in the click from the drop-down list 'folder and search options '.
    4. at the bottom of the window that comes up, under the "Navigation" tick to choose 'show all files '.

I need to do this every time I have to reinstall Windows 7 x 64 Home Premium on my HP Pavilion dv6-3032tx laptop.

Missing Windows 10 Update icon in system tray notification area. Windows 8.1 runs on HP Pavilion p6-2350 PC. All Windows updates are up to date. I tried every "fix" for what I found on the internet with no luck. Still no icon. So, how am I supposed to reserve my copy of Windows 10?

  • e250v2 Playlist file missing in Windows Explorer

I didn't exaclty know how it happened. I enjoyed my e250v2 much. I create playlists on WMP 11.0.5721.5260 and sync them with my sansa and everything works fine.

Suddenly, the drive letter has changed, and the small logo of device Sansa is missing when I use Windows Explorer to access files on my Sansa. The file seems / is different. There is no playlist file at all. However, when you use the camera itself, there is a playlist in the playlist file. I have manually all the music files from the sansa itself, but a "playlist" of delelted is always in the "playlist" folder which is always there.

Also, when I sync a new reading list for the sansa now, the music files are present in the folder "music", but there is no "reading list" in the playlist folder (other than the above mentioned empty playlist.

    Help, please!

According to my sansa, I have the V03.01.16A version.

    Thank you.

What USB setting you normally use? If your drive is on Auto Detect, it means he was able to connect in the MTP or MSC mode. If it is passed it could account for the different 'look'.

Try to switch between the 2 modes and see if things return to normal.

Better manually the value to be one or the other and say - considers the parameter "default".

  • Windows Explorer thumbnail JPEG image that is superimposed with the icon in the lower left!

When displaying thumbnails of JPEGs in windows Explorer, the tile is covered by another icon so that the lower left corner of the thumbnail cannot be considered.  The icon is a blue square with double white arrows on the inside. Someone can tell me which program is what actually happen and how can I stop it from appearing on the tile.

I suppose that you have an installed Norton Security Suite or Norton 360 and that is what causes these icons.  They exist to indicate whether or not a file was supported upward (I think they become green when she was saved, but I'm not quite sure that I will never use Norton products).  From what I read, there is an option somewhere in the menu or the toolbar of the Norton program to disable this "feature" - you can search yourself or ask for help from technical support of Norton http://www.symantec.com/norton/support/dtree.jsp?pvid= .  I understand why it affects shortcut icons, but I do not understand why it is affecting. JPG files but apparently from what I've read it's very common.

If you grow tired of Norton and the problems it causes (if you did not experience even further than this, I'm sure you'll eventually - I see a lot of them here), you can switch to the free Microsoft Security Essentials http://www.softpedia.com/progDownload/Microsoft-Security-Essentials-Download-131683.html (Windows Firewall is perfectly adequate and Norton or anyone else really adds nothing of value) or maybe Avast to http://www.avast.com/index.  They are both excellent anti-malware programs even if they are free.

    I hope this helps.
