Mobile libraries externally, speed things up?

Hello everyone,

I just realized that all of my libraries are on the internal drive of my iMac. And research here I see arguments for either internal or external.

I'm so used to FCP and FCE old days.

My only complaint with the FCX is I get messages to frame A BATCH Of dropped and beach balls, and I am trying to address this problem.

Could you pass my library on an external drive help? Reading here, I can just slip them on and then delete from inside.

Or do all Proxy?

Or is it all whacked the graphics card?

Data sheet:

iMac - model end of 2013

3.2 ghz

memory - DDR3 1600 24gig

GeForce GT 1024Mo of 755M

Thank you

Al

Do you use the managed media? If so, and your libraries are in in-house, which would explain the slow pace.

Unless you have an internal SSD flash drive, which is very fast, you should keep your libraries outside - which must be connected via USB3 or Thunderbolt (USB2 is too slow). The internal drive is used by the operating system all the time, and it is not recommended to keep your libraries and the media there.

You could, Alternatively, keep libraries internally, but use external media, to keep all the outside media. The simplest solution, however, is to keep everything in the library and have the library in the external hard drive.

  • CUPS, Jabber IM for iPhone, Mobile and external access

    Hello world

How do you provide external secure access for email Instant Jabber for iPhone client and the Cisco Mobile customer on an iPhone?

There are so-called security SSL for Jabber Instant Messaging, but is unable to find all the information on how. The Cisco Mobile client appears to the needs of the AnyConnect VPN client and encourage users to connect via VPN, first...

After a bit of bumping into a wall your head wondering why there was no documentation for external access to Cisco Jabber for iPhone, I realized that Cisco Jabber IM for iPhone is an entirely different product and Jabber for iPhone seems to be the new name of Cisco Mobile customers. Yet, the only documentation I can find for the Jabber Instant Messaging is that I can "security by using the Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) encryption" but no information on implimenting it with CUPS.

On top of that, the Jabber IM for iPhone can not make calls but rather calls Cisco Mobile, which raises the question of providing external access to this too, and the only solution I've ever found is to use the AnyConnect VPN client on the device also. Suddenly, it seems to offer a solution of Cisco Unified Communications on an iPhone, I need three different and is applications is no longer quite as unified.

    Thank you

    Mark

Conclusions you drew on the product names are correct. They are transitioning to Jabber like a brand name, but it did not in the iOS VoIP client yet. The most recent Cisco Jabber for Android is the first to include Secure Connect (remote access protected or ensure access transparent, aka). The BU seems characteristic knocking out on a single platform and then replicating them on others before moving on to the next batch of features. I don't have a specific timetable to share but expect customers to iOS updated in the coming months with Secure Connect.

With regard to the separate clients: I can see both sides of this room. The more I use them more, I agree with the decision to keep them separated and cross-launch when necessary. If you think it is consistent with the way the user interacts already with their phone: voice and texting are two separate applications. I suspect that the developers also get some benefits by keeping things more targeted (e.g. less than test whenever they change something). The only downside to this approach is that each app consumes its own tunnel AnyConnect on the SAA.

  • Moving images, lightroom mobile for external hard drive - how?

    Hey all,.

I'm mobile synchronization of images from Lightroom and the images are so not in my normal hard drive folder structure. Periodically, I offer my images on my main hard drive to two external drives. How can I manage this process of getting the images synchronized to an external hard drive?

    Hi André,.

You can specify the location of Lightroom Mobile images to be stored in the Lightroom preferences > Lightroom mobile tab > check "Specify a location for the mobile Lightroom images" > click on select, then select the location

  • Mobile file external to the internal drive

I have a folder in my LR library that coming from an external drive. I would like to move all of these photos in a folder on my hard drive, so that when you work on these photos in LR I don't always have to have my external HDD plugged. How can I do this? I also want to make sure that I don't lose the many changes I already have photos in this folder...

    Thank you!

In fact, you can use Windows Explorer or the Finder to move the folder. When you start the file that you moved to Lightroom is displayed as being absent. Right-click on the folder and choose find missing folder. Then all you have to do is show Lightroom where the folder is now located and everything will be in place.

Both methods work. I moved the files in Lightroom before and dropped in the wrong place and had then fits trying to get things straightened. So, I prefer to use Windows Explorer. But that's just my personal preference.

  • Will be upgrade to my old MacBook Pro of Mavericks in El Capitan speed things up? If this is not the case, how to restore?

My trusty old MBP (15-inch, mid 2009; Processor 2.8 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo; Memory 8 GB 1067 MHz DDR3; Graphics NVIDIA GeForce 9400M 256 MB / 9600M GT 512 MB; Software OS X 10.9.5 (13F1134); positively ancient, I know!) is really gives me a hard time. And I don't even talking about video editing or other heavy work. No, simple processing, navigation, etc. ; the kind of things that NEVER used put any strain on the girl. But nowadays, JEEZ!

So, can anyone advise? Upgrade to El Capitan would make things better or worse?

I did several drive repairs and checks - recovery mode - even a defrag with iDefrag (for what it's worth, right?), but still no luck. So, I'm of a mind that an update of the OS would be some new life to my dear old steed before I finally retire him when I can afford next year.

I'm just dreading that I'll make things worse! So, I can back up with Time Machine and then just return to Mavericks if the proverbial poop hits the fan?

I have a high file line new York City of the Park plan. It is in vector format freely available on their website in pdf format.

The problem is that I have do M.Arch. landscape and for that I'm studying that the Park and make my leaves for college in Illustrator and InDesign.

When I import the file in illustrator, it becomes very heavy and takes time to zoom, to enlarge the details of the floor and the furniture. I use the version of the cs6. And after that when I import it into InDesign, the same thing happens.

When I go to a typical quality of display of a performance of high quality performance, takes about 9 seconds, too high for me.

What I want to do is to separate this file into small rectangular pieces that can be studied for the educational purposes seaprately

That would be in illustrator to help extend your order. However by doing that, many components in the drawing get exploded and get grouped with other stuff...

  • Toshiba 320 GB external HARD drive make my very slow computer

    Hello.

I bought this product a few weeks ago now, and every time I use it, it makes my computer go tp so slow to the point where I can't actually do something on this subject, due to the fact that everything becomes inadmissible. Also, the rate at which I transfer files to it is also very slow. Any ideas why and what I can do to speed things up a bit?

    Thank you.

    Hello

You suggested that the laptop becomes slowly during the use of the external HARD drive.
I guess that transfer you a data from the HARD drive internal to the external USB HDD.
I think that it s not very rare, that the laptop runs slowly during the transmission of the data.
It depands on the program that runs in the context of the operating system.

I put t know which interface you use USB2 or USB only, but data transfer depends on the interface.

  • Adobe Lightroom Mobile Sync problem / Collection do not sync but the pictures already online

    Hello

I have been using lightroom for 1-2 years now after moving to Aperture (already used on the PC for a week). I have about 140 000 pictures and videos on it, of which 95 000 are on lightroom mobile (apparently 90 videos online).

I love it and I'm frustrated with these 'X Sync photos' on the left. Usually, I had some left of synchronization and collections quickly get photos online, but this isn't the case. I now have 3000 + photos waiting for synchronization (for the most part by adjustment for the photos I guess) and 1 new collection that I created yesterday evening (as there are 10 h) that contains previously downloaded photos no doubt only (and which are online) are simply not showing on my iphone Mobile with Lightroom or the web interface.

What are the proposals? Can I send a diagnosis form to Adobe to watch? Please do not suggest to remove the file from .ircat to computer synchronization, did before and what I see on the forum is simply not helping issues in sync, I also check the web interface, but I almost 100 000 pictures I looked more later thousands (when I imported all was synchronized) and no. blackened photographs.

I want to use Lightroom Mobile as much as possible, but it has a lot of problems or is so slow (by the way, I have 50Mbps download and download 5 Mbps). Sometimes, nothing moves for days.

I'd love to send you any diagnostic file that you want to solve this problem. Really a concern when it should be a smooth experience.

I think Lightroom should include at least a list of photos that are being synchronized for troubleshooting purposes. This seems to be a common question "X photos not sync for days or stuck.

    Best regards

    Hi Jeff,

When you do a new collection in Office LR I select generally all the thumbnails in this collection and build smart preview on the fly. In the menu: click on library > Previews > build intelligent surveys. I score then the collection for synchronization, and which seems to speed things up. Give it a try.

  • 8 - sensitivity gesture while reading sensitive content on a mobile of Captivate

    Hello

I just a product content reagent and tried to play on my laptop (Nexus 5 - 5.1 Android).

This content is very simple, only 3 slides with button next/previous to navigate, not SCORM.

I put on a web server and access it from there.

No problem to display content on my mobile, but the tricky thing, is that the gesture of sweeping to navigate from one slide to the next must be VERY fast if not, it does not at all!

First I thought that I did not check the option of the gesture, but in fact I did. This gesture of blow speed is not common for me, compared to usual reactive content on the web.

Is it the same for the other users of Captivate 8 playback of sensitive content on a smartphone?

Is there a way to adjust the sensitivity of this gesture in a file .js somewhere? (Jquery?)

Any help/information will be greatly appreciated, thanks!

    Didier

There is a line in the CPM.js file:

    swipe_velocity: 1

Looks like they're using hammer for gestures.

    Try changing the numero.65

    Drag the recognizer - Hammer.js

  • iPhone 5 battery runs very quickly when using mobile data

When I use mobile data on my iPhone 5, the battery seems to run out quickly. When I say fast, I mean very quickly, it will drop 100% completely dead in 20 minutes. What I do when I use mobile data is send some Snapchats and that's all. I left mobile data on, I have it on when I need to use it. I tried using mobile data for other things, and the same thing happens. Sometimes the phone will completely die to about 40% of the battery being left. I am almost convinced that I need at this point a new battery for my phone. Finally, I want to mention that these problems don't happen when you use mobile data, WiFi. Does anyone have any suggestions?

    iOS: version 9.0.2

    See the following article:

In addition, download the app from the battery life and see what it says about the health of your battery.

  • What kind of speed USB should I expect realistically? (E200 & Clip)

What kind of speed USB should I expect realistically? (using the pliers & E200)

I'm finally migrate to a pretty decent computer, after having struggled with a very SLOW Dell for another few years.

My USB transfer rates are MUCH faster than them - saved file (WAV), which took about an hour and a half to transfer on the Dell, Dell will transfer in maybe six or eight minutes on this new machine.

However, I still get a small fraction of what I think I should get - I didn't record the numbers (they vary somewhat from run to run) but I don't think I've EVER received anything faster than 2 megabytes per second when copying the Sansa to the computer. (Computer a Pentium dual-core, 2.8 GHz, 4 GB memory, running Vista 32 bit.)

It is not a problem of USB port on the computer - pretty pedestrian USB flash drives and cards MicroSD (USB card reader) will transfer at rates much higher than the Sansas.

Is this normal and something I have to live with, or is there something I can do to speed things up? (I've done a lot of research, did not find much, but one thing I noticed was someone who said have received something like twice the throughput when using MTP mode, as it did when using MSC.) Personally I don't want to use the MTP - I prefer a lot being able to drag and drop via windows shell folders Explorer standards rather than dealing with Media Player, synchronization, etc.

Well, I decided to look at a file copy operation - he actually hit 4.02 MB/sec for about two seconds. Began slowly, gradually progressed a little faster that it happened, got to 3.80, then oscillated around a little, then a little up to 3.99, then hit 4.01 for a second or two, then fell back again and then up to 4.01 for maybe two seconds at the end.

So, faster than I thought, but still pretty stinkin' ' slow, given what can make USB 2 (and MADE do with other devices, so I know it isn't the computer - and the fact that it happens for you also confirms that it is not something unique to my situation).

So why are they so slow?

  • Upgrading my cpu speed zip files in Windows 7

I currently have an i3-2100 (Socket 1155). I compress TIFF files (137 MB each) in records of 15 or more. It takes forever. I checked my use of RAM and it runs around 37% while the zip compression and listen to trance music streaming from Youtube at the same time (from 4 MB of RAM installed) to get more RAM doesn't seem to be the solution.

Would a processor "more powerful" speed things, hopefully much (stay with Socket 1155)? Or is program of internal compression of W7 (what I want to continue to use it as people who receive my files zipped using Windows Explorer to decompress files) just by nature dog slow and isn't really dependent on cpu? You know, it is what it is.

So far no response. If anyone has a suggestion for another forum post this question please let me know.

Asked me to come back and "finish my thread. Well, no answers here, so I asked on a photography forum and it has been suggested, I have try 7 - Zip. This free program, in fact, compressed files JPEG and TIFF in about 1/20th, time to spend it as a Windows Flash program to accomplish its task.

I also learned that seamer works better on text files and not so much on image files. Indeed, a compressed jpeg file is about the same size as the original file. A compressed tiff file password 137 mb 125 MB so some, but not much. Why it takes so darn long comes mainly from transfer images JPEG in a different folder Windows is beyond me. I assume that 7-Zip goes account that it does nothing more than to transfer them on and done it gets about as fast I could rename the original folder.

Minimally, TIFF, 7-Zip compresses and gets it done almost immediately. Windows takes 30 minutes or more.

Discussion was going and came on whether or not would help more RAM. The consensus is that it is not useful. What helped was to use 7 - Zip.

I also tried to pass like a Flash on a different computer on W7, I (an older i5 which has a four true cores) and it was slower in the Windows program as this computer. This computer has an i3-2100, but has hyperthreading. Given that 7-Zip can use hyperthreading maybe thats why it is so much faster. Who knows.
