Model 410c - Windows 8.1

After an upgrade to Windows 8.1 my laptop stopped connecting with my wireless printer.

I ran the HP print and scan doctor 4.2. The Print utility allows me to print a proof on my printer wireless. The utility Scan says that the complete software solution is not installed on my computer.

I tried to reinstall the HP software following the instructions on the HP help site. When you run the installation, I get an error saying "the specified service does not exist as an installed service."

What should do? Should I use the Setup utility to uninstall, then try again?

Once created this account, I would like you to perform a clean boot on the computer. This will prevent most of the third-party programs interfere with the installation of the software, since some third-party programs may cause this problem. Here is some information on how to perform a clean boot: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/929135

The next step performs a file system check. To do this, run as administrator command prompt again. Type this command and press ENTER after: sfc/scannow

SFC stands for System File Checker and it analyzes and attempts to restore corrupted Windows. Run this could find a corrupted file or a service and fix it. Once completed, it will basically say either no corrupted files have been found, corrupted files were found and repaired or corrupt files were found but did not not be repaired. Restart after it ends and record your results.

Once the audit is completed, I want to make sure all Windows updates have been installed. Here is some information on how to install all of your Windows updates: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-ca/windows-vista/install-windows-updates

Before you install the printer again, I would like to reregister you the Windows Installer service. To do this correctly, please open the prompt as administrator and type the following commands (press ENTER after the first command):

msiexec /Unregister

msiexec/regserver

I would like to now you try to reinstall the printer software. If the problem still persists, please make another level 3 uninstall and restart the computer. The next step is to add the printer via the Windows program "add a printer". To do this, you must know the IP address of the printer (you can access this information by printing a Network Setup page the printer off).

Now, open devices and printers, and then select Add a printer. Make sure that you select "local printer", when it asks you. It will generate an error. Once you see the error, click Next and select the option to choose a printer port. Create a new port, select standard TCP/IP port, and click Next. This action opens the TCP/IP port Wizard. Insert the IP address listed for the network configuration page and the printer name.

You can now select the driver. Select HP, select disk, and then click Next. Select the autorun.inf in the current "7z" folder for the printer and click Next. He should have success at this stage. Try to print the test page, it suggests. If so, this implies the print driver installation was a success. Now, you can try to upgrade the software to make it work.

If this does not work, perform an other level 3 uninstall, then restart the computer. Afterwards, go to the Windows registry. Before you troubleshoot remaining, please back up the registry. Here is information on how to do it: http://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c01817264

After completing it. Navigate to the following location: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Control\Class\ {4D36E967-E325-11CE-BBBFC1-08002BE10318}

Once you're there, remove the lower filter value in the right panel. Under this key, there are also some subkeys for example 0000, 0001, etc.. Double-click on and remove those as well. Once this is done, restart the computer and try to install the printer using the printer Installation Wizard.

Please respond with your results when you are done troubleshooting. I'm only here to help!
