Model # 860-180 st: computer will not go to standby mode
I just got this computer HP, model # 860-180 st, not even a month, "sleep" mode was working fine when I got it, but now it will not enter sleep mode. I checked everything in Control Panel, power options, so I don't know what the problem is. People of the idea?

Hello Jay_101,
Thanks for the link, I found what was preventing the computer in standby mode. It was the srvnet thing. This link has all the tips and trick to solve this problem.
I owe you a lunch.
I contacted the HP Support by phone, the call is routed to the India, where else? The guy wanted remote access to my computer, I said no way Jose. These types of support for HP in India are unnecessary. All he wanted was Remoting to my computer, since I refused he won't talk to me more.

Hello JJLinker, welcome.
The issue is likely caused by "Wake by

2. right click "My computer" and select "Properties".
"3. click on the tab"Hardware", then select Device Manager.
4. expand the "Network adapters" category
5. right click on each of the devices and select "Properties".
6. on each, go to the tab "power management."
7 turn off the checkbox "allow this device to wake...". ' and click on 'Ok '.
8. close all windows and restart the computerLet us know what happens

MY Office Pavilion model A6647C will not go to standby mode
MY Pavilion desktop model A6647C won't sleep mode.
How can I fix?
The Sleep Mode can not activate or go out intermittently for several
reasons:- If the computer has a tuner card, TV tuner may be active.
- A virus protection utility is running an analysis of activate.
- Third-party wireless keyboards and mouse may cause the problem.
- An application is preventing Sleep Mode to activate.
- Ensure that all video available driver and software updates have been downloaded and installed.
- Make sure all available operating system patches and updates have been downloaded and installed.

my computer will not go into "standby".
A year ago, I bought a used computer at a local store. the mobo is an Athlon XP 2100 +, 1.74 GHz with 3 GB of RAM. It runs XP Home SP3, with auto-mises updated lit. Since I bought it, I was not able to 'wake up' mode standby - waving the mouse, pressing a key, nothing works. the only way to recover is to unplug the power and start over. I contacted the store on this matter, thinking that they are able to 'tweak' something, but at the time, they had a 3 week wait, and as a system used, there was no guarantee (minimum fee of $75, $75 / hr of pocket), so I abandoned this idea. I have a XP Home CD I bought for my old computer (just in case the preloaded software crashes, which was eventually), but windows indicates that the currently installed version is newer than the version on my CD. I have a copy of windows 7, but no DVD player, so installation is not an option (most of my current software is not compatible with windows 7 anyway). ideas, suggestions, etc.?
Hello
· You have the latest graphics drivers installed?
A lot of standby and hibernation problems can be attributed to graphics cards. A simple driver update might get hibernation works again.
Method 1: Check if you have the latest display and video drivers. Log on to the computer manufacturer website and look for the same thing.
Method 2: Make sure your device is authorised to the computer.
a. open the keyboard Control Panel item, as described in method 1.
b. click on the hardware tab, and then click Properties.
c. click the Edit settings button
Note This step requires administrator access
d. click the power management tab and check that allow it this device to wake the computer is turned on.
e. click OK, and then click OK again. Do the same for the mouse and other pointing devices.
Method 3: An update of the BIOS (Basic Input/output System) could also resolve the issue. Check the website of your system provider to see if one is available.
Note: Be careful when you change the BIOS settings. The BIOS interface is designed for advanced users, and it is possible to change a setting that can prevent your computer from starting properly.
Regarding the relocation, you will need to the same installation CD that was used to install on this computer. You will need to boot from the CD to reinstall Windows XP by using the CD you have.

computer does not start in normal mode
HP Pavilion dv9000, 32-bit, Windows Vista Home Premium, service pack 2
The computer was working normally. I connected a HDMI cable to use a larger external monitor (hp w2207h). I did several times without problem. I plugged in the cable, then turned on the external monitor. The screen of the laptop goes immediately black that I turned on the external monitor (not like a normal screen transfer). The external screen has no image. The f4 button did nothing. I turned off the external monitor. All disconnected. I couldn't get a picture on the laptop. Finally, I pushed the power button until the computer turns off. I restarted the computer with no attachments. Power goes to the screen on a black screen. The 'hp invent' logo appears then. Then Microsoft name with the long box with green lines running from left to right. So far, so good, everything seems normal. Then, after a minute or two lines green running, the computer stops and the screen goes black, just at the time must appear the opening of session and password screen. The hard drive light also stops flickering, and all what happens is the fan works and there is a black screen. The computer froze. I let the computer frozen for an hour. Nothing happened. I am able to restart computer in SafeMode (f8), but the screen is filled with columns of red dashes. The computer will not update in safe mode. In addition, a new message is displayed. While running in safe mode, instead of my normal screensaver appearing, a message appears that says "the screen saver can't run because it requires a more recent or compatible with Direct3D video card." I don't know even what is Direct3D. I am grateful for the suggestions or pointers to internal diagnostic programs or free online diagnostic tools links. I also never set up system restore.
Hi HK-Sheko,
Looks like your video drivers must be updated for Vista. You can go to the HP Web site:
http://h10025.www1.HP.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareList?LC=en&DLC=en&cc=us&OS=228&product=1842189
Or go to the Web site of the manufacturer of your video card for the latest Vista drivers.
I hope this helps!
