  Does anyone know how to set the new Type of Machine and the serial number after a motherboard for a replacement model H535?

  The motherboard has recently failed on my model H535 (7 months after the expiration of the warranty - thanks, Lenovo). No local garage would agree to replace due to its nature of owners (thanks, Lenovo). I spent about four hours on the phone being bounced into back-and-forth between the many support staff (usually combined) Lenovo in sales, technical support, support of parts of IBM and various other departments (thanks, Lenovo), which one has suggested that I might have to try to find a motherboard on Ebay or Amazon for my computer in less-than-2-year-old. However, I finally get to someone at Lenovo, which has been able to sell a motherboard - for 2/3 of the cost of the original computer.

  Now, I installed the motherboard, and it works. However, during each boot, I get a POST with two beeps error which reads as follows:

  00CE error: Machine Type and serial number is INVALID

  Start of manufacturing sequence is taken if no selection is made

  I presume that the BIOS on the new motherboard must be programmed with the right Type of Machine and the serial number of my computer. I've read various things on the Internet about what to do, as updating the BIOS (I can not even find a BIOS under "downloads" of support for the H535 - thanks, Lenovo model), using WinPhlash (I apparently need one kind of BIOS ROM file to make it work, I don't have), getting a Lenovo hardware maintenance disk for my model (which apparently isn't available for other special people only me - thanks Lenovo), etc.

  The waiting time for Lenovo support are ridiculously long, and almost every customer support person is ridiculously uninformed on the difference between one of their computer models, and even less their motherboards (thanks, Lenovo). I am amazed and extremely frustrated. It shouldn't be rocket science.

  On a side note, I initially bought the computer from Staples with a credit card with extended warranty protection, which means I can get a refund for repair. Although the motherboard came with a packing list, no Bill has been provided by Lenovo, and I couldn't make them send one - or maybe even with success to explain what a Bill is (thanks, Lenovo).

  Well, Lenovo support was useless, and any alleged authorized suppliers were in fact still suppliers or could help with my problem. But I was finally able to fix it myself. Once I found the right piece of software, it has been fixed in less than a minute.

  My BIOS is by American Megatrends, and I discovered that they have a set of utilities that includes a called AMIDEDOS. It is intended for manufacturers to be able to change the strings of text stored in the BIOS for things like the manufacturer, product name, Version, number series, UUID, SKU number, family, etc., that is what I had to do. It is not intended for use by consumers, but it's there.

  When I ran the "DMIEdit.exe" program AMIDEDOS (clicked and ran as administrator from 10 Windows) and click on "System information" from the list, I saw "Product Name | STRING | Invalid' and ' serial number | STRING | NOT VALID ". The other fields appeared to have valid entries. I double-clicked on the fields valid and changed their "H535 model" and the serial number of my computer, respectively and then clicked on "Update all" at the top.

  Much to my surprise, he reported that he had successfully registered the new information. And, perhaps even more surprising is the fact that, when I rebooted, the double beep and the warning about the type of computer not valid and serial number have disappeared. In addition, the BIOS showed I had entered the new values, and the 'Manufacturing Boot Sequence' option (I understand can be much slower than a normal boot) had disappeared.

  Again, I'm a little surprised simple it was actually solve the problem once I got the correct software, or Lenovo part nor American Megatrends apparently offers to the owners, and it took hours and hours of research and research to understand.   Here are a few options.

  1. hold down fn and Press esc - this should display model No. / Nr but will work only if the HP System event utility is always installed.

  My X 220 recently had the motherboard replaced at a local authorized Lenovo service provider. They were only supposed to replace the fan but the connector broken speaker when they have been to remove the Board of Directors. Currently, Windows is not able to read the type of machine. System update does not work because of this. CPU - Z and hwinfo64 show the kind of machine that qqqqCTO as if she was a Virgin in the BIOS. Type of machine is properly in the BIOS correctly, but they left the serial number of the empty system. Could that be the cause?

  In case someone else runs into this problem: I solved the problem by running the BIOS update utility and using the option to change the model number. There is a note that says to delete what's there and leave the field blank to restore the factory setting. That did the trick.

  Have a very strange problem. I wanted to apply patches using a VCO on my model R2 2012 Windows workflow and Windows 2008 R2 models.   I designed this site before BC had mobile compatible models. The customer is facing serious problems with the site due to the incompatibility of the submenus multi level and albums that do not work with mobile phone.  I was forced to create a separate CSS menu system and templates for the mobile version, but this means that menu systems are not dynamic or set to update automatically.   Previously, you were not able to replace the models by default BC with new ones, as you can do in WordPress.    Because of these problems, my client is thought to leave BC completely.    Do you have any recommendations?  I could design a site that meets from scratch as I do to sites non - bc, but wonder about the compatibility issues to replace the current models and how they will work with models of system and e-commerce of BC.  (The lightbox problem is with thumbnails in catalogs!)  When we started, we had only about 30% of mobile phones, but now we are up to 84%.  It is easier to trash the entire site and start from scratch than to try to make the former model compatible with mobile phone!

  As the subject says, when you manage virtual machines, which is better to use? Hosts and Clusters? Models and virtual computers?

  It's our facility:

  Previously we had only been using "Hosts and Clusters" manage all of our virtual machines. We organize objects of the individual within vApps and Resource Pools. We had also installation on these both parent objects permissions for who has access to what.

  Basically, we have about 12 members. Everyone has their own virtual machines that they use for training, etc. We manage centralized via AD with users and groups user access. We also have some users assigned to some hosts to maintain the level of things between the two hosts. Our license does not DRS, BTW.

  I just replaced our server vCenter in preparation for our 4.1 vSphere upgrade later this year, Yes, we are on vSphere 4.0 currently. So I went ahead and 'computers models and virtual"allowing to create user folders, gave users access and placed virtual machines of all users within these folders. (I heard recently that the use of the hosts and Clusters was semantically incorrect). Even if they have access to their folder, they cannot create a virtual machine because they cannot access a host. A computer file virtual and models can be assigned to a host?

  I didn't assign permissions to each user in order to add to each host, because I didn't want others to mess with other virtual machines. All users previously red access only, but sinc the virtual machines and templates folders are not assigned to any host, they can get in their folder to create and manage their virtual machines.

  Then, I go on this wrong all the models and virtual computers and do I just keep using our hosts and Clusters of installation above permissions groups?

  Any advice on the semantics in this would be appreciated.

  All,

  I solved my problems.

  Check book Scott Lowes ' Mastering VMware vSphere 4 "Chapter 9, he described the use of Resource Pools to the VM group under the view of the hosts & Clusters. Using the same names as the files under VMs & models and adding the same permissions, I was able to force every user to use their own folder under VMs & templates and only their Resource Pool under hosts & Clusters. So now the two views reflect the objects of each user and their access controls are correct.

  Items to remove this Lessines:

  Use Of Resource Pools under host & Clusters to manage the default host for users.

  Files under VMs & models allows you to manage virtual machines model announcement for each user (simple view).
