Model ENVY 17-j020US: my product key was cast

I had to do a refresh of Windows and now my product key is not valid. I contacted Microsoft and they said it was leaked and I need to contact HP. Before I called them, I contacted HP and they said I had to contact Microsoft.

I get the runaround. I bought this laptop to a retail store and has not received a disc. I found others with the same problem and it says that HP is using the same product key for multiple computers.

This is no fault of mine and my warranty is up.

I need HP give me a correct product key so that I'll be able to get the free Windows 10 update.

I paid a lot of money for this laptop including the product key and it turns out that's not just mine. Who should I contact to get this support?

If you have connected a case with HP, you should have received a 10-digit case number.

Please give me the file number a private message so that I can check the case and seated you better.

    Hello

As you have lost the product key of the Tower, it is a preinstalled operating system and you will need to contact the manufacturer of your computer.

They give you a different product key.

What you can do now is ask them to send you a set of recovery disc for the computer model reinstall the operating system to how it was when new.

Also while you are in contact with them, if you never receviced a reinstall to purchase drive, ask them how to make the recovery discs to do the same thing, if you still have access to the recovery partition.

None of these methods of resettlement requires normally allows you to provide a product key during Installation, the recovery process uses the Installation product key factory to activate automatically during the resettlement process.

    See you soon.

Call the manufacturer of your computer tell them the exact situation.

    1. ask if they can help you with unreadable product key.
    2. ask for a set of recovery disks. The cost of a set is minimal, and it is worth the money spent.
    3. at the same time, ask a technician to learn you how to access the recovery Partition from your computer and how to make the system using the partition recovery.

  • Windows XP product key was stolen. Is there a way to recover the key to the hologram on the documentation for Windows XP?

I built my computer 5 years ago and already a version of XP OEM (drive a sort of holographic label).  Recently the mobo was damaged by lightning, and I had to replace it.  I decided to put a bigger drive in when I reinstalled it.  I have the installation disc, but the certificate was in there with a bunch of boxes of software stolen from my garage.  I noticed that there is a number on the inner edge of the disk.  Is it possible to retrieve the activation number for this?

  • My copy of windows is not genuine, apparently, and my product key contains an invalid character

I use this computer for over a year with no problems, but when I started it today, my product key was apparently not valid. It contains either one I have either a 1, neither of which is a valid character. Is that what I can do about it?

If you encounter problems reading your product key on the label, try a flashlight and a magnifying glass.

    My understanding is...

Of the 36 Latin and Arabic, used numbers in most of Western Europe
languages, 24 seem to be used for current product codes and 12 are not.

    The 24 used are:
    2346789BCDFGHJKMPQRTVWXY

    The unused 12 are:
    015AEILNOSUZ

According to police and the used letter cases, this reduced set is usually
without ambiguity, but knowing that the members it certainly may be useful.
Microsoft usually uses uppercase for printing / display of the distribution, and
It doesn't look like they have been specially selected to minimize the chances of
confusion and also, I believe, to avoid accidentally generating
offensive - looking sequences of characters. The model is easier if you look
the characters not used like this:

    AEIOU 015 LNSZ

Is there a way I can get information on the original OEM key that came on the phone?

If you have installed the operating system using the Microsoft installation disc this key will not help you. This license/product key belongs to original recovery image, that you got with your laptop and it is not a universal key that you can use with each installation of the OS.

When you use the Microsoft installation disk and you do not have valid license key, you can buy online and activate pre-installed operating system.

    Hello;

Let me welcome you on the HP forums!

It really depends on the version of MS Office.

With MS Office 2010 and earlier versions, the product key was stored in the registry when the product has been activated.  These registry entries can be retrieved using a product called Belarc Advisor: http://www.belarc.com/free_download.html

From 2013 Office, MS introduces something known as Click-To-Run (CTR) and in these cases, the product key is ONLY stored on the servers of Activation of MS, that the product is downloaded and installed from Ms.  IF you have one of these versions, you can ONLY get the product key of MS Office Online account.

If the product has NOT been installed, then when you got the PC, you also had a card containing the product key.  If you lose that, you're out of luck, as HP don't keep any keys record for individual product associated with individual computers.

    Good luck

  • Office 2007 product key problem

    Hi guys,.

I bought a new Toshiba laptop (that of £329.99) and I try to activate my Office 2007.

Office 2007 pre-installed with my laptop; If the product key was written on the bottom of my laptop.

Well, I have this Poduct Key 25 character entered my Office 2007 (when he invites me to do), but he repeated to me that it is incorrect, then I CERTAINLY know that it was the key to accurate product that was written on the bottom of the laptop.

Is there something wrong, that I could do that I don't know?

Can anyone suggest what I can do to fix this?

    Kind regards

    Brown bread

    Hello

The product at the bottom of the device key does not belong to Office 2007!
It is up to the operating system that was preinstalled on your laptop and it is an OEM key that only work with the operating system comes with the laptop!

As I m not wrong not Office 2007 pre-installed on your laptop is a trial version.
Check exactly in the operating instructions!

Click on the button continue, which will produce the report.

Please also state the Version and edition of Windows cited on your COA sticker (if you a) in the case of your machine (or inside the battery compartment), but does NOT quote the key on the sticker!

  • During the new installation of xp pro, the program never asked for the product key or what type of network installation.

XP pro ie8 32 bit svc pk 3.

during a new installation http://aumha.net/viewtopic.php?f=62&t=44636, most of the steps was OK, however, my product key was not for and type of network was not.

As the third so clean installation I did, do you think the pc is to remember my preferences?

    Thanks for any help.

I think that when you install XP and turn on the first time, Microsoft collects information from your system during this process to develop a signature of material that goes with your license and store it away.  Of course, they do not collect any personal information :)

They do it so that if someone takes your XP installation license and tries to apply it to another computer (it is piracy) that the installation would not activate as your activation must match your hardware.

If someone tried to install and activate your license on another machine with a different set of hardware, MS would say, wait a minute - this license has already been activated on another machine, and he could complain.  Then someone has some ' splaing to do.

I suspect that in your facilities in 2nd and 3rd, MS takes a look at things and said... this material signature and the license already go hand in hand, that nothing has changed here, so it is not necessary to activate again, all right.

This is why, if one day you need to replace your motherboard and reinstall XP, even if you have everything and it's all legitimate, you will probably have to reactivate again since the signing of material would be completely different for this license that MS remembers the first activation.  A few small hardware changes, that you can get away with, but if the number of points collected to compensate for the signing during the initial activation is too different, you will need help activating.

In this case, if things are legitimate, you can call MS activation team, and if you can convince them that there is no hacking involved and you just have to change your motherboard, they work with you to get your reactive stuff.

Since you are looking at AUMHA, they have a writing little upward about it here, but there are official documents of Microsoft you can read also ('points' and how they work):

I bought the HP Compaq DC 7900 Convertible Minitowers PC 3 years with downgrade to Windows XP (preinstalled at shipment).

    Hello

In addition to the suggestion of Carey Frisch,

If you cannot establish an online connection by using your modem or an Internet connection, the wizard prompts you to contact a customer service representative to activate your copy of Windows XP by telephone.

  • Damaged Windows XP OEM product key sticker

My desktop PC hard drive bad a and was replaced, but the windows product key was the last 3 letters plucked from the label on the crankcase and when I did a survey on how to retrieve the key that I have in the windows cd itself is different from the key on the label stuck on the housing of the office. Which should I use and how do I find the last 3 letters of the key on the tag, and why are they different.

    * original title - Window XP Prof. rear, product key. *

In this case, since you mentioned that there is a Windows XP sticker in your desktop, it only means that your copy of Windows XP was preinstalled. To solve your problem, you should contact your computer manufacturer for a copy of the recovery disk and the copy of the product key. They will be able to help you to change the product key and the reactivation of your copy of Windows XP.
