model of my laptop and HP Bios Update UEFI

Hello, I have two questions

(1) I can't find what model number, my laptop is so I can understand that downloads to download off the hp drivers and software update and I tried this auto finder without any results. It is a Pavilion dv6, I was sure the model number was dv6 - 3143sa, but when I look for what happens with 3 other option dv6 - 3143ca, dv6-3143 cl - and dv6 - 3143us. which of them should I use?

Also, I noticed there was an update of Bios HP system UEFI, some body can tell me if this will allow my laptop to initialize in 5/10 seconds? I read some stuff on the bios of the summer replaced with new UEFI which allow the faster start-up times and I was wondering if it is the same no? If not someone can tell me what makes this update for my bios and it is better to install?

Thanks for any help

  • Satellite S500-10F - slowed down and need BIOS update

Hello, I would like to know if anyone can help.

I work for a Borough Council IT Department, so it is quite safe to say that I know a fair bit on THIS and the side material things. We had an about 12 laptops Toshiba Satellite S500 delivered, 11 x S500 - 11 c and 1 x S500-10F. As we do not yet support windows 7 so he must rebuild in Windows XP, install the drivers etc, and send them to schools.

All S500 - 11 c were built and work without any problem at all. The only difference I see is that the model 10F doesn't have bluetooth so that the model 11 c. Model 10F take image ghost, created from the 11 c, but he likes to be restart every 5 minutes approximately and is extremely slow.

So I rebuilt the model 10F using our licenses CD XP SP3 Microsoft and started to install drivers etc. When I installed the software of card reader Ricoh the laptop again slowed down (about 5 minutes to start Windows). I used to have a similar problem with a model on the A300 range and I've updated the BIOS which cured the problem. I downloaded the one and only BIOS update on the Toshiba site for the S500 and when I want intsaller, he returned with a message that says "this computer is is not supported.

If someone at Toshiba can tell me where I can get an update of the BIOS that works for my S500-10F or indeed why my system slowed down to a snails pace after having installed the Ricoh card reader software I would be very grateful. I removed the software and now and disabled without success card reader devices.

    Thank you very much

I can see for this Satellite Pro model 2 drivers are available. The second is O2Micro controller version 1.1.4.207 card reader.
Have you tried to install it?

  • Dead laptop after the BIOS update. How can I restore original BIOS?

    Model: HP Pavilion m7-1015dx

    Original OS: Windows 7

Current operating system: 64-bit Windows 8

    Problem:

I tried to update the BIOS by using this file:

    http://h10025.www1.HP.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareDownloadIndex?softwareitem=ob-124651-1&cc=us&DLC=en&LC=en...

    Release: 2013-10-08
    File name: sp63801.exe [1/1, 6.56 M]
    Version F.29

He gave me a Blue Screen of Death and the computer restarted. After the restart I only get a black screen, the fan comes on but there is no text and no way to access the BIOS, or the start menu.

The led caps lock starts to blink twice, then stops for 1 ~ second then blinks twice again and again, indefinitely. This, according to HP, suggests a failure of the BIOS Corruption.

    What I tried:

I do not have the HP recovery partition, so I tried to install the two update of UEFI BIOS HP SoftPAQ and HP UEFI support SoftPAQ environment on a FAT32 USB key named HP_TOOLS. I tried these tools separately, at the same time. I tried them with 3 different bios downloaded from this site. I hold the button windows and B, then turn on the computer. Nothing happens. I tried Fn and B, holding them for different periods, there are no beeps, no text on the screen, nothing. The led on the USB key blinks ten times at the beginning and then stops, then starts flashing caps lock. I tried to put the .bin file in different folders in the USB port, including the root, same result. No.SIG file is in the bios I downloaded.

I am on mobile, excuse the errors. What Miss me?

The message here by 'jayvastani' seems to work for many. The only thing different from his post a year ago would be to skip step 4. The rest should be all you need. Good luck!

  • Laptop freezes after BIOS update

Today, March 22, 2015, I installed an automatic update from Toshiba for my laptop satellite. Since updating my laptop crashes seconds after the start, displaying the message: "Unhandled System exception in thread (btfilter.sys).

    Can someone help me?

To talk about possible solutions, it would be very useful to know which model of laptop you have, and what system is pre-installed.

In addition, it would be interesting to know if you ever tried to get the laptop back to factory settings.
If you do not have in the past, I recommend you to perform this restore and to sett the laptop back to factory settings

  • XPS8700 and the BIOS or UEFI

    I have an old XPS8700 of 9 months with BIOS A08 = Win8.1 running.

Everything seemed fine until I tried to access BIOS/UEFI.

Boot, I see the Dell logo, but it is not an invitation to press F2 for the BIOS.  If I press F2 (or F12) nothing happens and the boot process continues at the login screen.

Windows, PC settings, retrieval/update, UEFI/BIOS, the computer boots in the first page of the BIOS American Megatrends screen (and looks exactly as I expected) but the computer does not respond to keyboard or mouse.  The clock ticks upward, as expected, but there is no response to all keys (and I've tried them all) or with the mouse.  Decommissioning is the only option.

This could affect all project or rather future upgrade... or to solve any problems.

Does anyone have any suggestions?  I'm reasonably IT read and write, but beat me to it!

It is difficult because of Fast Boot to enter the BIOS with Win 8. Way the easiest is to go for the power settings in the charms bar and click on reboot while holding down the SHIFT key. This bypasses quick start so that there is more time for press F2 during the boot.

  • Need to identify the model A100 to select the good BIOS update

Good morning to all and thanks in advance for any whole made :-> assitance

    My question is this:
How to identify the exact model of a Satellite A100 PSAAxx series laptop?

    Reason:
I need to update the BIOS and I'm uninclined to simply apply the updates, I could get for fear of turning it into a brick.

    What I know:
There is some time, my wife and I bought a used Satellite A100 - in good working condition, but warned that he has 'problems' with USB ports driver. The time has come to address the issue of the USB, and the upgrade of the BIOS seems to be a good starting point.

At the time of purchase, the label with the model number and the number of harem on the bottom of the system was quite readable - unfortunately, this label has subsequently lost all 'tailor-made' (we know what the fields are called by all useful information has disappeared).

It is a Toshiba Satellite A100 (I have discs recovery and thus marked user manual).
The user manual specifies the model number PSAAxx.
    CPU: Celeron M 1.4 GHz
    RAM: 704 MB
    HD: 40 GBbyte
Graphics card: ATI RADEON XPRESS 200 M Series
    BIOS: v1.20 2008-12-12

    Any suggestions gratefully received

    Hello!

To identify what A100 you exactly, you can use Toshiba PC Diagnostic. If you have installed the laptop with the recovery disk, this tool is installed too.

If you n t have PC diagnosis, you can also download:
    http://EU.computers.Toshiba-Europe.com-online decision-making supported Downloads & => Download drivers

In the diagnostic tool you can see on the part number (basic information of category).

Hello and thanks for the display on the HP support forums.  When it comes to an update of the bios is the rule if it's not broken don't fix it.  If he is blocked and does not have the only choice you have is to do a hard reset first.

  • Models of VM, Windows and related Clones updates

In our society, we have a set of VM templates for a variety of different versions of Windows, we need to test our software. Our test workflow goes like this:

1 Tester creates a new, empty configuration

2 Tester adds new clone linked VMs for each version of Windows they need to test against, using our models.

    3. tests coming, development challenges coming, more tests, etc.

    4. when the test is finished, VMs will be cancelled but must be kept available for a period of time (several weeks or several months for example)

Periodically, we run Windows updates on the models to keep them informed. In my view, that it is cancelling publication of the model, deploying, running updates, Undeploying and then publish it again.

But this raises a few questions:

We expect problems if not to publish models, run Windows update and then republish these models when there is, linked clone VMs based on them? Through this repeatedly over time will start to degrade the performance of the models (due to new links in chains)? How often, if ever, should we be consolidate models (we prefer to minimize this for reasons of space)?

In fact, the picture is slightly more complicated, because the models VM themselves are linked clones:

Windows-> add Visual Studio 6-> add to Visual Studio 2005-> add to Visual Studio 2008-> add to Visual Studio 2010

Most of our test VMs are linked clones since the last link in the chain above: windows with a variety of pre-installed Visual Studio versions.

I would be grateful of any advice on 1) how we should address updates of Windows running on the models and the 2) when, if ever, we must consolidate the models.

    Thank you

    Adam

Periodically, we run Windows updates on the models to keep them informed. In my view, that it is cancelling publication of the model, deploying, running updates, Undeploying and then publish it again.

Could they remove just the configurations if they're going to be just "sitting there"?  If you want to keep them fresh and current (compared to the model itself), then they should really just remove the configuration and create a new one if necessary.

I expect questions if you just don't publish/deploy/update / publish.  When "unpublish you" a new link in the chain is done, so any existing VMs based on the previous instance of the virtual machine will continue to exist without error.  All the updates that are placed in a new location, and new virtual machines will be based out of this instance, once you have published it.

Storage performance can degrade over time, but it really depends on the profile of IO of the virtual machines themselves and the length of the string of this virtual machine.  If the update cycle occurs every month, then perhaps consolidate records each h1/h2.  If you're updating models every week, then maybe do it once per quarter.  It is just the management fees.  The technical limit is 30 links in the chain, but try to keep it under 15 or more.

    (1) how we tackle running Windows updates on the models and 2) while, if ever, we must consolidate the models.

I think that my comments above should help you out.

Theoretically, bad Os. or hardware problem may cause reboots in the round. Overheating can also make the Cpu and other parts on the overheating of the system mobo and it restarts.
