Modem missing M30-642

Hi, the internal modem of AMR worked perfectly until he disappeared from my M30-642 Device Manager.
She's also missing since the Toshiba PC diagnostic tools.
Is this a sign of hardware failure?
If I try to reinstall with the latest driver it can reappear but not PC diagnostic tools (no tone, but I'm sure that the line is ok for the PC). The next time it will go away...
Someone had this problem?

Hello

It might be a failure, but in a first time, please check the troubleshooting steps in this document to Microsoft.

Unfortunately, the M30 road parameters are unknown for me. I want to say I put t know if the drive supports a master, slave, or c - salt settings but I've studied a bit on the net and found many compatible players!

    -Matu * a G8CC0001C210
    -Matsu * a G8CC00019210
    -TEAC G8CC00013210
    -Toshiba SD-R6112

Here is a strange number, but it seems that these are the numbers of in-house production. Who knows?  :|

  • How to use the external screen with my Satellite M30?

Hi guys, I have the following problem:

I have a portable Satellite M30-642 former. My keyboard it is completely broken (spilled something on it) so I use an external USB keyboard.

Now that I bought a TFT I wanted to use it as a primary device, so I need to take the laptop to the external output.
The laptop itself recognizes as a secondary screen already, but this isn't what I want.
Problem is I can't switch from the display without the FN key devices!

I tried to search the net and this forum - but the solution posted does not work for the M30. There is no option in the utility of HW and not in the BIOS to enable the external keyboard support.
Please is there any other combination of keys that would work or a software utility that allows me to turn on? It's a really bad situation for me :(

    All solutions anyone? :(

    Greetings and thanks in advance

    Hello

Please don't be crazy on me but I write here very often and somehow try to help, but I'm still irritated if someone thinks that anything is possible. Unfortunately, you have to accept that sometimes there is hardware limitation and there is nothing to do.
I want to talk about primary and secondary monitor.

On most laptops, the LCD is always set as primary and cannot be changed. So, as far as I know, without using the FN + F5 key combination you extend the desktop to external display and use both of them. Using display settings you should be able to switch to an external display only (display control panel settings NVIDIA advance settings and so on). Please test only because I don't have M30, but the principle is used the same.

If you will be able to use external display only try to restart your laptop and see on which screen the office will be shown. If you will be lucky and office will be shown on the external display, try to extend the desktop to second monitor (laptop LCD).

    Good bye

  • Satellite M30: Replace DVD with additional HARD disk?

    Hello!

As my Satellite M30-642 does not offer a modular Bay for the installed switches and I have a DVD burner for USB that I can use I think try an experiment: withdrawal of the DVD drive and replace it with an extra HDD/SSD.

As SSDS are very light, have no moving parts and does not necessarily need screws to be installed and the slot DVD brings the IDE and this could work to power connector. The DSS must be placed inside an old and updated the slimline cd-rom so that the change is not visible and the laptop is safe from dust etc.

Has anyone tried something like this before? Are there solutions to buy for Sat M30 (2004 vintage)?

    Cheers, obreitfelder

    Hello

As far as I know the Sat M30 doesn t support the slim select Bay and, therefore you cannot use this adapter instead of the CD/DVD drive.

    Sorry, it is not possible

    Good bye

  • Satellite Pro M30 modem problem

I have a portable Satellite Pro M30 and I try to install the modem driver. Everything is ok, but the modem has problem. In Device Manager, it seems to be fine without conflicts. Each time than trying to query the modem of the property page, it shows me a message concerning the opening of port.

I read a lot of articles and I thing the problem, this is the version of the driver. The driver that I use is the SM2138ALD04 version. Have any ideas?

    Hello

I agree with you, I found also several threads to have reported similar problems with modems
No doubt this procedure will help you:

-go to the Device Manager and remove and uninstall the modem driver
    -Download the latest modem driver
-restart the OS and reinstall the modem

    Please report did it

  • Internal modem M30-206 has stopped working

Hi, the modem internal on my Satellite M30 - 206 has just stopped working. It worked fine until yesterday. Now when I try to compose I always get an answer of NO TONE. Since last night, I installed a bunch of stuff (external device Brixham and Pinnacle Studio 9) what someone thinks that he might by some configurations of software that did, or did everyone think that it is a hardware malfunction (I think BUT I HOPE NOT)

    Hello
its certainly possible that as a result of the installation of additional software modem stopped working.

  • M30-852 modem & its satellite problem

I have the Toshiba M30-852 with Windows XP preinstalled. Yesterday, I tried to use the modem to dial to the Internet. The modem works fine, but only if I disable the sound modem speaker. If the modem speaker is activated the modem still connects fine, but the sound from the speakers of the laptop is harshing. It seems that sounds periodically is at the cutting edge at the time of s ~ 3 frame I hear the tone, then there is no sound for 1 sec, after that it sounds again. This does not affect the connection, but it bothers me. Another characteristic, if I turn off the modem, the sound of all speaker is disable, i.e., I can't listen to music, etc. Does anyone has experienced such problems?

    Hello

It's hard! But here are a few suggestions to solve!
But first a few questions, did you install Recovery Toshiba OS or an own MS OS? Install the if you have an own MS OS you have to be careful on the pilot. When the drivers are installed in the wrong order the laptop does not work properly!

You would update the Modem, sound and the BIOS yet?

He should know that the Modem is a software emulated and the modem and sound card are related to each other.

In my view, there may be a buggy driver.

Test it and after again! :-)

  • Satellite Pro M19: video and modem drivers missing

    Hello
I bought this laptop on Ebay there is not so long and missing drivers - video and Modem.

Please help to find to download or get a cd.

    Hello

I googled for the M19 Pro Satellite and I get only a websites to the Japan.
I think that this device has not been delivered in Europe, WE but in the Japan or China.

However, I don t think that the link above will help you because there are drivers for the European units.

What you can do is to install the add-on for the Japan or China language signs and google for this device.
Maybe you'll be able to read Web sites and be able to download all the drivers.

  • Ports COM1-4 'missing' Satellite M30

Hello, communication ports (COM1-4) series of my sound of portable Satellite M30 suddenly "disappeared", or, at least, Window XP (Home version) is unable to detect them - through the management of resources or similar tools of surveillance - only parallel port (LPT1) is reported.
Problem is that the modem (internal standard) (by default on COM3) is unable to work. Modem seems ok - at least according to Windows - but, as you can guess, it cannot accept AT command (and therefore start up).
Everything else seems to work fine - including the Infrared Port, which should work, by default, on COM4? and mouse Touchpad. No problem i/o and IRQ address is detected on the other peripherls.
Only the system serial port driver (serial.sys) is alarmed that unable to boot because.
..??? .. Even thought a hardware problem - ex.electrostatic discharge or similar? - but a couple of days ago the modem starts unexpectedly and worked correctly for long enough - even if with the COM ports still without being detected by Windows - but after connection went down and modem could not start (Error 633: modem, a device already in service or other problems of configuration...).
.. Before proceeding to more annoying (and probably expensive) actions - such as reinstalling Windows?... or looking for a repair center - I wanted to try to replace the driver (serial.sys) series, but I was unable to find it-in the CD provided with the product or on the Toshiba site. Where can I find it?
    Other suggestions?
    Thank you

    Hello

Don t look for serial port drivers. These ports are using simply common Microsoft Windows drivers!
According to your description there are different problems with different internal devices.

If all goes well it of not a hardware problem?  :|

So in my opinion we must first know if it s a software or hardware problem.
In this case you take your original Toshiba Recovery CD and must be reinstalled the operating system.

Note; the whole HARD disc will be fomrated and you will lose data. So, don t forget to back up your data.

If the new installation of the operating system didn't help any, and you will always receive error messages the technician must check the laptop!

    Good luck

  • Satellite M30: Options after replacing the motherboard's missing energy saver

    Hi all

I just got my laptop back from the service center, and not surprisingly, they've pushed a device that existed!

I had my laptop (M30 1.7 GHz special edition) for the centre of repair for a defect and they informed me that the motherboard had to be replaced. I got the laptop back a couple of days and I immediately noticed the laptop is overheating, fan has not turned too often that he was setting the profile to "Full Power".

After hours of investigation, I noticed that a few options that existed in the Toshiba Power Saver no longer exists. So, in my opinion, that my laptop is running as optimized battery even if it is set to full power.

As I said, the fan is not put on too often, leading to the laptop is overheating. Then the fan used to be almost constantly on full power before the replacement of the motherboard.

Here's how the energy saver used to look like 'before' to take the laptop to the repair center:
    http://www.FoxPop.com/Imre/2006/toshibatecram3review/toshibapowersaver1.gif

And here is how the energy saver looks now, after the replacement of the motherboard:
    http://www.iXBT.com/portopc/Toshiba-Satellite/power.PNG
with maximum processing speed of the CPU to 3 instead of 4.

Note how I'm now lack the "CPU control method" option, and I cannot adjust the speed of treatment to more than level 3!

Cooling method does not appear the maximum performance for me either, because of the symptoms I mentioned above.

Any idea on why that might happen? Please note that I used the recovery CD system and everything back to factory settings, still no luck. I'm sick and tired of going back to their ugly repair center. If someone can point out the problem, I'll be very grateful.

P.S. I use version 7 of the energy saver, verion BIOS 1.4 (original)

    Thanks in advance.

    Hello

I wonder why you did not contact the service guy again.
After the repair everything it works fine and if the laptop is not working properly, you should immediately report it! I think it s a claim.

However, to my knowledge after the replacement of the motherboard that the micro code to the Board of Directors must be updated with the CPU could perform specific performance.
What CPU speed appears in the windows system?

I m not 100% sure if the microcode update missing is responsible for your problem, but I recommend asking to view ASP.

  • Satellite M55 - PCI modem and Ethernet controller continue missing

    Hi all

I got this Satellite M55 quite a few years and until now it works really not too bad for me apart from a few minor errors here and there...
Just recently, I sometimes have some hard to connect to wireless internet.
It could always be connected only after hitting plugged in at least 2 or 3 times, and the connection is not persistent in time.
When I look on the computer management, it seems the Ethernet controller and PCI Modem are missing. I tried to search and re - install drivers associated with wireless local area network and so forth, but stops the error.
This advice would be really appreciated!
    Thank you in advance.

    Configuration:
    Satellite M55 S325
    Window XP Pro
    Intel PROSet / Wireless

    Hello!

Where is - it has you fact check for drivers? Normally, you will get all the drivers on the Toshiba site:

    http://www.CSD.Toshiba.com-online download-online portable => Satellite-online M55-S325

I searched this site and I founded all the drivers.
