Modular Disk Storage Manager

We are decommissioning of an old server hosting the Modular Disk Storage Manager software and I was wondering if there is a procedure to move it to another host.  Is there a way to copy/export configuration and import it to the new host?

The configuration is stored on the MD table itself. The only thing that is stored on the server's IP SAN network addresses, so that he knows where to find.

So you can just download the last DVD of MD resources for your San, install it on the new server, leave the auto discover table and confirm you can see everything. Once you feel comfortable that it looks good, you can retire the other server (uninstall MDSM or just format the old server).

  • Reference DELL Modular Disk Storage Manager cannot see MD36xxf because of the version of the firmware to high

I have a DELL MD3600f that is connected to a DELL R710. The system was all the installation and work programme, but the OS disk has become corrupted and had to be rebuilt. The system has not all backups, because it was still under construction. The problem is that a system administrator updated the Firmware on the MD3600f to the 07.80.41.60 version. According to the notes the versoin of DELL PowerVault MD Series Storage Software Resource DVD 3.0.0.18 or later must be installed before update the RAID controller firmware.

Problem is the update of the firmware is already in place and the MD storage software cannot talk to the MD3600f now because of the correspondence of Miss firmware.

No matter how lucky it is a updated software storage MD there? I tried low grade firmware, but that has been denied.

Why not give the link to the latest version; 4.1.0.88?

    Someone help here?

Julian, my problem is very similar, though different because I use Veeam.  Here is what I posted on the forums of Veeam - if all goes well, it will help you

Looks like the solution is to uninstall the 'SmVssProvider' who, when running "vssadmin list providers", is listed as:

    The provider name: "SmVssProvider."

    Provider type: hardware

    Provider ID: {24e4e8a3-69cb-4370-8b7b-c5276cd49765}

    Version: 10.84.02

This service is launching the premium add-on snapshot service that you can buy for the MD by Dell line. If you do not buy it, you don't need this provider. (for as far as I understand it at least)

To uninstall this provider, navigate to the folder in the folder storage uninstall VDS - VSS MD. By default, it is at:

C:\Program Files (x 86) \Dell\MD Storage Software\VDS_VSS\Uninstall Modular Disk Storage Hardware Provider (* BE CAREFUL here and double check your path.) There is more than one with a similar path and name.* uninstall program)

Once inside this folder, run the "uninstall modular disk storage hardware Provider.exe.

Note that the uninstall program is very rudimentary - there is no GUI or confirmation that it's over. The file and the service will simply disappear.

This will remove the "SmVssProvider" and the corresponding Windows services:

'Modular disk storage hardware provider' (SMPROVIDER1. EXE - identical to SmProv ~ 1.exe).

In my case, service of 'Modular disk storage hardware provider' has been set to start "Automatic", although it did not work, so I was unable to uninstall the provider without stopping I/O or disruption to my VMs. There is no restart request either. Although YMMV so proceed with caution.

  • Installing XP on Tecra S5 - Intel Matrix Storage Manager

    Hello
Im trying to install XP on a Tecra S5.
As described in the manual, I have created a disk with Intel Matrix Storage Manager.
With a floppydrive USB I tried to install XP with the F6 method.
I could choose the suitable from the disk driver and was able to create partitions and format them.
Some time later in the installation process, XP asks for the "Intel Matrix Storage Manager.
    in the A: drive.
Although disk is still in the drive, there is no reaction.
Even when I change the disc, nothing happens.

    Any ideas?

    Hello

Start the installation of Windows XP Home edition again, and when necessary to load the driver from the disk using the F6 option. This will make the disk HARD visible for the installation of Windows XP Home edition. When the HARD drive is recognized properly installing WXP. Later when WXP is installed correctly you can change the structure of the partitions.

I do not understand why is floppy disk suddenly not accessible anymore. Check the data recorded thereon.

  • Can satellite A200-1N7 - I remove Intel Matrix Storage Manager?

    Hello

I have the Satellite A200 - 1N7 PSAE3E with the installation of Windows Vista 32 factory. I bought the laptop with * Intel Matrix Storage Manager * already installed. Recently, I noticed that Matrix Storage Manager requires little significant memory. I do not use any, either, I have several disks to use. I want to remove only keep the Intel AHCI drivers.

Matrix Storage Manager there some features in Windows Vista somehow while I don't use it at all? Is it safe to delete?

    Thank you & best regards
    Sean

    Hello

I totally agree with the above user. The Storage Manager provides AHCI drivers and shouldn't t be deleted. It of necessary on never cell phone that works on the AHCI mode.
You can try to stop the service, as Al - eX has suggested, but I think that this will cause a BSOD.

I think it would be a better option if you remove other programs you n t need (software test e. g.). Also used CCleaner to clean the registry and defragment the HARD disk in order to speed up.

  • Satellite L40-18 X Intel Matrix Storage Manager driver to install Win XP

I can always see the message after I formatted the hard drive:

    Insert the disk labeled:
    Driver Intel Matrix Storage Manager
    in drive A:

Is anyone know to help in this step of the installation.

I've got the floppy with the SATA drivers (which were necessary at the beginning) in drive at the moment.

What should I do in this step of the installation?

    Michal

    Hello

The message appears because the HARD drive cannot be recognized until the correct SATA drivers will be installed.
The SATA driver is part of the Intel Matrix Storage Manager, which can be downloaded from the Toshiba driver or directly from the Intel page page:

    Intel Matrix Storage Manager
    http://Downloadcenter.Intel.com/Product_Filter.aspx?ProductID=2101

Here, you have to choose the operating system, then the right version of Storage Manager for the Chipset that was equipped with right in the L40.
The 32-bit disk, Intel Matrix Storage Manager package Configuration utility contains the only SATA driver files
During the installation of Windows, you will need to include the SATA driver by pressing the F6 of the disk external USB FDD.

However, you can also use the nLite software, which include the SATA driver in the CD of Win XP.

  • rebuild the RAID1 with Intel Matrix Storage Manager Dimension 9150 problems

I installed the RAID 1 a week ago. Today, it has been degraded. I tried to rebuild after deleting a RAID volume, create a RAID... of the RAID configuration utility... There was no Windows utility to work of the... Now, all the data disappeared and I have a white RAID configuration. Is there a way to restore it or I have to reload all along? The Intel Matrix Storage Manager, I had downloaded from the Dell support page. R130118.exe. I loaded the wrong program. I am running XP Pro SP3.

    Thanks for any help.

When you use the option ROM Intel to set up a RAID, the drives are initialized before established the RAID volume.  Your data may still be present, but as an earlier poster said, you will need to go to a data recovery provider to get.  For later use, you must use the Intel Matrix Storage Manager, or his later incarnation, the technology Intel Rapid Storage Technology, application to build a RAID from a working drive.  Normally, a RAID 1 will rebuild automatically if you have removed a faulty drive and install a new, white, this hard drive place of the failed disk.

The Intel product requires Windows to be installed and running before it can be used.  There is also a download for the driver only, but which is used during the installation of Windows if the SATA driver is missing from your Windows installation CD-ROM.

  • Storage management workflow

    Hello

I'm new to LR and I need help to find an effective way to manage my storage management.

I have LR running on an SSD and also have an internal 1 TB hardrive.

I'm planning on establishing a mirror RAID 4 set up, just wanted to know your opinion on this?

What I would save on the raid Lightroom catalog that is to say, photos, the latest images, (essentially all)... or is it not a good workflow for storage management?

Would be very happy to all the advice and also all other alternatives on how to go about managing the storage.

You can try to experiment with your catalog, first put it on a real disk (not an SSD) and see how it takes place (also how take the previews in the folder whose name ends with Previews.LRDATA), and so who will agree on your SSD, and always leave the room for growth of the catalog and get an overview of the size of space on the SSD drive and then move them there.

There are instructions to open the required ports in the firewall ESX and start and stop the service of msm in the ESX console. You need install the client Windows MSM Megaraid Storage Manager and manage that.

  • LSI MegaRAID Storage Manager and Dell PERC cards?

    Hi all

I have a Dell PERC 6 / i in my whitebox ESXi 4 server and I seem to be missing some options when connecting to it via the LSI MegaRAID 2.91 Storage Manager - 05. Basically, it seems the only operation I can do is take the disks offline. I have no option to create tables, add/remove disks in bays or change RAID levels.

I can do all these things from the BIOS, this is obviously not the card. I had a glance the BIOS if it was something in TeleManagement prevents there but could not see anything, and I was wondering if these limitations due to a cut the officer of management in ESXi or something? If not, what could be causing the problem? When I log in MSM I use the account root on ESXi and MSM reports that I have full access.  As it is MSM is not very good for anything other than general information about my disks, card and backup battery.

Have you installed the OEM ESXi version for Dell machines, or just a generic of VM Ware?  If you install ESX (with console) you can then install OM, and will give you the access you want.  You can manage all of this on the web.  Otherwise ESXi is limited, and it is a known issue.

Have you tried to discuss with Dell?

    Hello

Just a simple question: have you tried a system restore to an earlier point? This should bring back the Storage Manager.
