Module number 9222 compability in 9144 chassis

I'm running a cRIO-9025 system with additional 9144 chassis. After a 9222 module in the 9144 chassis, I found it wouldn't work. I checked the Web sites NOR and found a table were it appears that this combination is indeed not taken in charge. This will change in the future? Is it possible to use it in the cRIO 9114 chassis? When I tried, it said that it only works in FPGA mode while I was using this SCAN mode. As far as I understand this SCAN mode is necessary for the 9144. So, I was wondering if it is possible to use the SCANNING-only mode for the 9144 and FPGA mode for the 9114 and if so, how?

I'm very new to all this, an explanation of the novice-friendly or a link to a good paper on this subject would be much appreciated. Thank you very much!

-Yes, you can use scan modes for the 9144 and FPGA for the 9114. It's the way you need to set the project that the 9222 is not supported in scan mode.

You don't have to do anything special to do that work, just set up the two chassis.

We try to get all the module in scan mode, but due to performance issues, don't support not all c series modules. We constantly re - evaluate which modules we support - I'll make sure that your comments on the 9222 happens to the development team.

  • 1458RT CVS with 9144 chassis ethercat

    Hello

I want to use a chassis with a CVS 1458RT EtherCAT. I'll have to dedicated to one of the three gige ports (1/3) to communicate with the 9144 chassis? Therefore 1 for my camera, 1 for gigE plant LAN and 1 for chassis EtherCAT?

I know there are EtherCAT drive, I work with Allen Bradley, so I think to use a 9263 and a 9411 for analog player. Could you confirm that I will be able to control the analog output of the CVS at the EtherCAT frame to 4ms?

    Thank you

    Patrick

As mentioned, you should be able to be in the 4 DC, you need. I will recommend you don't not to lower the engine of 1 ms... Also, you should be able to control the etherCAT carefree expansion chassis. However, you should be aware of the limits of the EtherCAT frame.

    This document is very useful:

    http://www.NI.com/white-paper/10555/en/

You should also be aware that this chassis does not support interactive execution and only allows the use of the network variables. Also be aware that you must create the file bit FPGA and LabVIEW project deployment.

  • Playback issues of Thermocouples a 9214 in EtherCAT 9144 chassis

I have an SMU-1078 chassis with an SMU-8135 controller and chassis EtherCAT 9144 with multiple C-modules, including a couple of 9213 9214, running Veristand 2014 and 2014, inertia. I updated last week so I think I have the latest updates for the hardware and software.

The problem I encounter is that I can read my Type K thermocouples with Thermocouple 9213 modules, but when I connect them to the Thermocouple 9214 module, I see only TC0 change and the rest of the TC 9214 channels are 0 ° c. tried to use high speed and high resolution modes, but no difference. I also moved the module in slot 8 in the EtherCAT chassis, also without success. Then I moved the 9214 with its connector and thermocouples to another machine with a chassis cDAQ in 9188XT and I have read all the thermocouples with NI MAX. This proves that the module is working and that the module connections are good.

I need to use the 9214 because of his ability to handle the higher common mode voltages. I need help. Please, I beg you.

    Thank you in advance

    Richard

It ended up that I had to download the last update, 14.0.1 for the NOR-RIO. This solves the problem. I did have to reinstall Veristand, Labview, or any other driver.

Thank you very much for your answers.

  • Scan engine mode on RT does not not with EtherCAT NI 9144 chassis

    Hello

I have problem with communication of the cRIO-9074 RT with NO 9144 via EtherCAT.
I add the expansion with a NI 9203 module chassis to my system running on the cRIO-9074.
I use it in engine scan mode. My PC application communicates with RT by network data stream. When I run only asks to RT, the RT is the reading of variables EtherCAT I/O chassis with no problems, but when I run the PC host application, RT probably go into configuration mode and interrupts communication with chassis EtherCAT - I can see that the LAN LED on expansion chassis stops flashing. "" Then, with still running application I click in the LabVIEW Project Explorer, the item target and select utilities ' Mode Scan Engine "pass back"Switch to active"Configuration, then it starts to communicate. I tried to do the same thing programmatically work with the Scan Engine VI Mode Set but it doesn´t so Runt-time it does not work as well.

The behavior described above happened when I added the chassis extension in the project and only the module place entries in this chassis are affected, the rest modules 8 places directly in the cRIO-9074 work withou any problem.

    System:

    Professional Win7
    LabVIEW 2013 SP1
    OR-Industrial Communications for EtherCAT 2.7
    OR CompactRIO 13.1

    Hello

problem solved. The reason was function RT Set Date and TIme.vi what casues on NOR-9144 error and blocked EtherCAT communication. I found that this function is no longer supported in LabVIEW. After the removal of this feature of application of RT, everything works fine.

  • Advice on the Organization of the modules in a system of 2-chassis SMU

    Hello

    Content of the system

We have a system which consists of:

    • 2 SMU-1085 hunts, connected via an SMU-8384/SMU-8360

    • 15 maps FlexRIO (SMU-7962R + OR-5734), to acquire data at 10 MHz

    • 1 function (SMU-5412) generator

    • map 1 calendar (SMU-6672)

    • Other cards (switches and low-speed i/o)

    Use cases

    1. In a mode of operation, we need 60 FlexRIO channels to listen to at any time. When a channel exceeds the threshold, all 60 channels must be simultaneously acquired and recorded on the disc (i.e. each FlexRIO card must be able to trigger in all 15 acquisition cards)

    2. The other mode of operation, to generate a pulse of the SMU-5412 and acquire at the same time all 60 FlexRIO channels since the moment the fire pulse.

    Question

Essentially, we have 17 maps of conservation (15 FlexRIOs + 1 function generator + 1 card calendar), but only 16 cards can fit in a frame (because 2 slots are ocupied by the on-board controller and MXI-Exprress card). Thus, one of these must be on the other chassis. Then the two obvious options are:

    1. FlexRIOs so that the function on the 1st frame generator, calendar card on the chassis from the 2nd.

    2. FlexRIOs more map timing 1 chassis, generator of functions on the chassis of the 2nd.

Does it matter which option we're going for? Can we get the benefits of performance or ease of coding be it?

    Thanks in advance!

If all that you want to this topic the accuracy of the clock, there an entry on the back of the SMU-1085 for an external clock of 10 MHz and a 10 MHz clock rate.  So everyone can use the same clock.

But you worry about triggering.  So I see two real options:

    1. turn all that must trigger the other in the same chassis.  That would mean putting the source of synchronization in the second frame and using the reference I/O on the chassis clock to share clocks.

    2. get a second synchronization module.  The module should have PFI lines so that you can share trigger signals.  I would still use the reference I/O on the chassis clock in order to ensure that everyone uses the same clock.

  • LR5 book Module, number of Page Incorrect

I applied my book, beginning page numbers to page 1, and I applied the Page number Style overall.

On pages 6 and 7, I have a picture of two distributed pages and page numbers correctly say the 6 and 7.

Using exactly the same provision of two pages of photos on pages 18 and 19, page numbers say 20 and 19.  The page numbers on the real page 20 and up to the end of the book, are correct.

How can I get page 18 read 18?  I already deleted the page numbers and reapplique, starting at page 1.  The error appeared again exactly in the same place.

Thank you for your help.  This problem is quite frustrating!

I had "strange occurrences by page numbers, too, but not exactly the same problem you describe."

I came to the conclusion that the page numbers change can sometimes create a corruption on a single page of the book which can be eliminated only by the removal of the damaged page.

    Try this:

First make a duplicate of your book for future reference by right-clicking the name of the book in the book Collections of the Module page.

-In your book - delete the page that is numbered incorrectly.

Then recreate the page from scratch by using the corresponding page in the double as your plan for the layout.

To avoid these mishaps, I do the page numbers as the last step of creating a book.

Note: Corruption do not necessarily "sit" on the page with the wrong number. He could "sit" on any page of the book.

If the deletion of the page with the wrong number does not help, it must pass through your pages one by one, this way:

After you have created your book duplicate remove page 1 of your original. If this allows you to correctly dial pages corruption has been on page 1.

If you are unable to correctly dial re - insert page 1 by pressing Ctrl / Cmd + Z repeatedly until that page again.

Then delete page 2 and continue as for page 1; and so on through the entire book up to what you deleted the page damaged. You know this because you can number correctly when the damaged page has been removed.

Tedious, Yes. But it's the only way I found. I just hope that you do not have 240 pages.

  • Is there an API that returns the model number or any other identifier for a module installed, I can use to identify the characteristics of this module?

    For example, I'll call you

    DaqSystem.Local.GetPhysicalChannels (PhysicalChannelTypes.AI, PhysicalChannelAccess.External)

For a list of connected devices.  The data in the table back looks like this:

    cDAQ1Mod4/ai0 (etc.)

It tells me that I have a CompactDAQ chassis, which is good, and an analog module in the slot Module4.  What I need to know is not just that there is an analog module in the slot to #4, but also of its ability (voltage, temperature, voltage, etc.) so that I can use the correct DAQmx task for this type of module.  All this has to be discovered during execution.

Otherwise, I'll have to provide a configuration utility when the user program needs to determine which module is plugged that slot - and will it change by moving it to another location, you must enter these details again.  I want to avoid this by making the material more discoverable as possible.

I can remember an API - and that is my hope.

    * beep *.

    Hello

I could understand the syntax for you. It's here.

    Device blah = DaqSystem.Local.LoadDevice ("cDAQ1");
foreach (String dev in bla. ChassisModuleDeviceNames)
    {
    Label1. Text += "\n" + DaqSystem.Local.LoadDevice (dev). ProductType;
    }

This displays the model number of all modules of the cDAQ in the chassi. I hope this helps.

  • NEITHER 9144 with module 9862

    Hello

I am currently working on a NI9144 chassis with a module CAN 9862.

I was wondering if it is really necessary to use additional power to the module (as indicate in the technical data sheet) 9862 considering that I use with the 9144 chassis? Is it possible to use the right module with the chassis?

    Thank you!

The 9862 requires bus power to power the transmitter/receiver. There is no way so he can get it directly from the bottom of basket.

  • Can not get EtherCAT (9144) to recognize CAN module (9853)

I have a cRIO system which consists of a RT 9024 controller in a chassis 4 slots and a separate, distant 9144 chassis EtherCAT 8 locations.  The 9144 has the usual assortment of, AO, modules etc., and it also includes a CAN of 2 ports 9853 module.  When I try to use the "add devices on FPGA Target and targets", the 9853 appears as a 37670 NOR, with the comment "This C Series module no is not supported by current versions of LabVIEW and NOR-RIO."  For reference, I use LV2009 SP1 and NEITHER-RIO 3.4.  Even more confused: if I have the 9853 leave the 9144 chassis 4 slots (no EtherCAT) and try to add it to the target FPGA that chassis, it works without any problem.  Is there a problem with CAN via EtherCAT?  This thread seems to imply that it is possible, although this poster had different questions.

Suggestions as to what I have or NEITHER could hurt?

I hope that you have seen that the second port CAN1 needs external power?

  • Get the absolute time on a chassis ethercat 9144 in labview fpga

I'm testing the timing and synchronization of a distributed system, consisting of an OR-cRIO-9082 and two ethercat NI 9144 chassis.  Is it possible to access the system on the 9144 absolute time of in the FPGA?

Thanks for the reply.  In fact, I just figured this out a few moments ago.  It is possible to add a timestamp to a variable that is defined for the user by selecting 'Enable Timestamping' on the user defined variables properties dialog box.  This timestamp does what I want, because it uses the absolute time of the 9144 (that is synchronized with the master clock), and this time can be read on the host/Master.

At least I think it does what I want.  I'm in the process of coding and testing right now.

  • Communication with EtherCAT defective modules with executable startup

    Hello

I have a deployment with a hypervisor OR 3110 and four NI 9144 chassis that are connected via EtherCAT. The RT VI I created works perfectly when they are deployed since in the LabView project. However, when I create a start executable (startup.rtexe), it fails somehow communicate with 3 out of the 4 chassis. I can read/set values for the frame that plugs directly into the hypervisor, but cannot control the chassis more far. If I build the executable to start with debugging enabled, the behavior is the same. Strangely, when I connect to the startup.rtexe running through the 'Debug Application or Shared Library' menu in the LabView project, I start getting values as it should. When I disconnect from the debug version, I lose the modules again.

    What I'm missing here?

Thank you much for the help.

    Christoph

I found the root of the problem: for iterations inside my call loops, I use property on variables unconnected (type defs) nodes to determine the number of iterations that I need. This doesn't seem to work if the FP is closed, as is the case in a deployed executable startup. If I replace these nodes of property with the constants, everything works as expected. It semms that the compiler removes variables unconnetced, because it "thinks" that they are not used.

  • 9144 EtherCAT refresh rate

Hi all, I am designing an application that will make use of several 9144 chassis for remote i/o EtherCAT. I need a minimum of a 2 kHz update rate with ~ 40-50 for this application on the EtherCAT ring channels (16 bit). After reading the EtherCAT documentation available on the Web site of NEITHER, it appears that the update rate is primarily limited by the analysis of the control engine because it is treatment in the real-time operating system and not the FPGA.

I also saw the benchmark EtherCAT here: http://www.ni.com/white-paper/52642/en/

Unfortunately this reference does not include the most recent RIOs Compact. Does anyone have experience with rates updated on the most recent cRIOs based on Linux (906 x series, x 903 series)? For those who have done this before, 2 kHz makes it seem like a reasonable rate update for 50 channels (over 3-4 EtherCAT frame) using one of these more recent cRIOs?

    Shansen,

I think that you should be able to achieve rates of 2 kHz with new cRIO-903 x performance. However you must consider that there are other factors which could affect/bottleneck your performance.

-Architecture code is great. Inefficient code can cause a high CPU load and affect your timing.

-Module update rate. Your slower module usually defines the "maximum speed" of your system.

Tricks like disable debugging for VI mode or request a RT improves performance as well.
