ModusLink Vista upgrade is free or not free?
I just bought the laptop A100-906 with Windows XP Home Edition. I understand I can be upgraded to Windows Vista. And, as I understand it, for free.
But while I visit the site Microsoft Upgrade that I saw a price of article 95, 47USD without shipping and handling for Grand Vista Home Premium.
Am I have to pay, or I have to just make an order, send to [email protected] and Toshiba will pay?
So, I want to say this upgrade is free or Toshiba gives just a discount?
Hej,
you are in the same situation, as if I were.
1: updates are only free from XP PRO to Vista Business or XP MCE, Vista Home Premium.
2: updates XP Home cost. Even from XP Home to Vista Home Basic, you will need to pay a lot.
I ordered as you want to make Vista Home Premium for 98, xx. Right now I'm happy that I could cancel the order. I really advice you not to order through Moduslink. The company was founded just for the upgrade. You can hardly reach them by e-mail. The only thing that works is letter or by fax.
And in the end: you get just an upgrade! So I kindly advice you don't not to order here. Instead, the order in your Favorites online shop a Windows Vista Home Premium SystemBuilder / OEM product. I ordered as well for 99,- so it is not even one Euro more then the upgrade. You get a full version and I got it in one day. I waited for more than 6 weeks and nothing happenend on ModusLink.

Hello.
My wife and I bought a
HP Pavilion computer dv6113, which was supposed to happen with a free upgrade to windows vista. We sent all the documents, including registration, rebates, etc. We received our rebate, but we never have our Vista Upgrade discs. Is not not big computer tech that we thought that the XP operating system was just fine and have used it since then. But now that XP is no longer supported, we are afraid to use our computer for banking, etc., until we have upgraded to Vista. Is it possible to download the free HP Vista Upgrade we were promised when you purchase the computer?
Thank you.
This is NOT official HP customer service and I, like most other people on this forum do not work for HP. It is a forum for users of peer-to-peer supported for class for the HP consumer products. HP maintains no official presence on this forum and it is unlikely that HP will respond in an official capacity. Response of an employee of HP represents his own opinion and not that of HP.
Sorry, but the Vista upgrade program ended a few months after Windows Vista came out. The upgrade program was not valid since April 2007 and there is no way to acquire Vista, short purchase. However, I recommend to buy Windows 7 Edition Home Premium instead. Windows 7 is more stable than Vista and will have a longer life of the support.

The Vista Capable upgrade is free?
Hello, guys. happy new year :)
I was given an old laptop Sony Vaio with the logo "designed for Windows XP/Windows Vista Capable." The vehicle currently has 2 GB of RAM and the OEM XP Home is authentic.
The former owner stayed with XP, but I need to upgrade to Vista because my applications do not support XP. I can't currently afford paid upgrades to 7/8.
When I inserted DVD a friend Windows Vista Home Premium to XP, he refused the product key, written in the COA on the PC sticker. The COA is genuine with XP.
So, am I eligible for Vista Home Premium or Basic?
And how can I get a valid PK for the upgrade?P.S. I read a lot of contradictory statements on this subject, on Microsoft / OEM/Blogs/Forums various websites.
Some say I must ask a PK on the MS site, which is impossible. Others say that I need a DVD of the OEM upgrade. Yet others that I need to buy a boxed version of Vista, which is stupid, because many said getting the free upgrade.I hope that someone knowledgeable enough Microsoft can erase this.
Happy new year 2013!
Hello
Welcome to the community forums of Microsoft and thanks for posting the question. According to the description, you need to know if you can upgrade to Windows vista Windows XP for free. Please answer a few questions to refine the question.
1. which product key you use to upgrade to Windows vista? You use the current Windows Vista product key?
2. have you received a product key upgrade to Windows vista when the purchasal?
The product key you enter can be used only for Windows XP. You must have a valid key for update for Windows Vista. If you do not have an upgrade license key provided by the manufacturer, you might not have to upgrade the operating system.
You can contact Sony Vaio to check if you are available for the upgrade offer.

I think this story says it all. The most problematic sites are mainly news sites

It has 1-40 or 45 new photos which can be browsed through by clicking on the arrows. Before the update without problem.Problem solved, if only temporarily.

Hello
Which offers free Windows? This isn't his legitimate for me. Since you have no later
Service Pack (SP2) there are no newer versions of Vista Home Premium. There are the Businessl
and versions Ultimate from Vista which you probably need not and are not free.Compare the Versions of Vista - click the editions of Windows Vista

Hello
Did you the latest changes on the computer before this problem?
Before the windows update follow the methods check if it works very well.
Method 1: Put the computer in a clean boot state before proceeding with the installation of windows update.
How to troubleshoot a problem by performing a clean boot in Windows Vista or in Windows 7
http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/929135
Note: After installing windows update, follow step 7 in the link provided to return the computer to a Normal startup mode.
Method 2: Temporarily disable the security software.
Disable the anti-virus software
http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows-Vista/disable-antivirus-software
Note: Antivirus software can help protect your computer against viruses and other security threats. In most cases, you should not disable your antivirus software. If you do not disable temporarily to install other software, you must reactivate as soon as you are finished. If you are connected to the Internet or a network during the time that your antivirus software is disabled, your computer is vulnerable to attacks.
Method 3: Run the Windows Update Troubleshooter.

original title: with Acer Aspire Vista Help
Well, here's the story, I bought an Acer aspire T180 a few years back from Best Buy with Windows Vista installed. The only drive I received was a Vista Upgrade disc. Fast forward a few months computer slows down, etc so I thought I'd see any control and maybe cleaning the system some. Put my disk to upgrade looking for the way to do it. Make the mistake of installing the upgrade. now I have the upgrade on my computer and it always tells me that I have a version of windows that is not authentic. I tried to use my COA on upgrade drive, does not recognize and COST on the case of my Aspire, once again with the same result. I have my old version under windows.old, but can't seem to install it. I would just go back to my Vista OEM install. I have access to another computer, but it is an Apple and prefer if I didn't use this option unless it makes it easier. I guess what I'm asking, it's just to get back to my legal version on this computer, would like to keep files, but if can't, I would like to do a clean reinstall. Mine is out of warranty, so no help from Best Buy or Acer without paying theirYou are welcome.
But try first to borrow a Microsoft Vista DVD of an acquantance of work for this restoration instead of a full recovery.
See you soon.
