Move an RMAN Repository to a different database

Hello

I want to spend our repository rman for DB_A of the RMAN repository database in database RMAN_A to the repository RMAN RMAN_B. RMAN_B already has the repository database DB_B, otherwise, I would just exp/imp of RMAN_A to RMAN_B. is there an easy way to do this?

See the documentation (of 11.2 here): http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E11882_01/backup.112/e10642/rcmcatdb.htm#CHDGEHCG

    Hello

Please read the doc, there is option

    CONTENT = {ALL |} DATA_ONLY | METADATA_ONLY}

ALL loads all data and metadata contained in the source. It is the default value.

DATA_ONLY only loads the data in row of table in the existing tables; No database object is created.

METADATA_ONLY only loads the database object definitions; No data line of the table is loaded.

so in your case, you can use CONTENT = METADATA_ONLY

RMAN will go for it, that's the beauty of RMAN that does not require the intervention of the DBA to power each archivelogs per turn. Just to start the recovery and the next is your controlfile which contain information about your archivelogs sequence. The mechanisim of the application of the archivelogs see this link for details

  • Working on the different database configuration repository

    Hello

I'm putting my deposit of work make a diagram on a different database to the root of the source.

Currently when I change the data source server and you try to set the repository of work have only the option to select patterns in the source.

I have my deposit of work on a different database.

    Can anyone help?

    Kind regards

    CM

I came to a conclusion that there was confusion about the terminology. What you call "Reference work" is actually a "scheme of work" in your particular case.

Then the answer is that the scheme of work must be on the same server as your schema of the Source data.
    Here's a reasoning behind this:
This scheme consists of the temporary/intermediate desks that are generated by ODI knowledge modules.
These work tables are similar to the tables in the schema of the source data and structure
Data are moved, copied, and a comparison between source and work patterns, it makes more sense to store them on the same database server to avoid overloading the network and communication.

That's why ODI ensures that the schema of the source and the scheme of work exist on the same database server.

P.S. 'Repository of work' is the metadata repository that contains the data model definitions, code ODI, packages, interfaces, etc.
He works in tandem with the "master repository.

    Hope this helps you.

  • Can I plug a tablespace in a different database?

    Version:11.2.0.3/RHEL 5.8

We have a database of non-prod with a weekly backup of level diagram using datapump. This DB contains patterns QA which is essential to our versions of the product.

The system tablespace data file has been corrupted. After the last logical backup taken with expdp 5 days back, many changes were made for business schema objects. Then, restore the dumpfile expdp scheme will be a great help.

We have a critical QA scheme called LMFS_QA that uses a tablespace (LMFS_QA_DATA) with 4 data files. All data files were fine when the DB went down because of the corruption of the system tablespace.

Is there anyway that I can plug this tablespace in an another healthy database after the user LMFS_QA was created in the DB?

Is there anyway that I can plug this tablespace in an another healthy database after the user LMFS_QA was created in the DB?

Sorry to say but the short answer is no.  You can not just plug these data files to a different database.

No doubt you are any rman backups, or you wouldn't be asking this question?  Critical databases must be in archivelog mode and backup using rman.

Use your file expdp and re-apply your changes.

Are there no way to recover your database "corrupt"?  You have connected a call with Oracle?

  • How to move a virtual machine to a different data store, preserving its ID

I would like to move a virtual machine to a different data store.

Because I use 3rd party software that identifies a virtual machine by its ID of VirtualCenter, I'd like to preserve the ID, and I also want to preserve the name of the virtual computer.

If I clone the virtual machine, I lose the ID and name.

I can clone a second time to restore the name, but the ID is always false.

I know that I can use vmkfstools-i to copy the entire disk.

Is it possible to copy the entire VM?

    I am currently on ESX 3.0.2/VC 2.0.2

The operation that I describe is available in 3.5.x/VC ESX 2.5.x

    TIA,

    -Magister

Don't use EVER of CP to copy a VM, VMDK move/copy should be used in conjunction with vmkfstools as best practice.

    OP,

You can manually make a copy using the CLI interface or use the VI Client and browse the data store and to copy and paste in the appropriate data and as suggested Andre store, when you switch on for the first time, you should say 'keep' when asked if you want to update the virtual machine UUID.

Another thing, you could do, is if you've enabled for vMotion, you can actually use Storage vMotion which will migrate directly from your virtual machine to a different data store, it's less effort on your side and you can count on Andrew Kutz sVMotion plugin: http://sourceforge.net/projects/vip-svmotion/

  • How to restore Rman backups on a different when the structured directory node

    Dear all,

Have no doubt the concept of backup RMAN restore on another node, I practice one to restore an RMAN backup, I'm following Oracle Metalink ID: 419137.1

I'm totally confused when I went through the step 9 in this document

    It is:
    9) rename the Redologfiles, so that they can be created in the new locations of the opening of the database is open in resetlogs
    SQL > alter database file rename ' / * node1/database/prod/redo01.log*' to ' / * node2/database/prod/redo01.log*';
My doubt is: I restore it in a new empty database, already have redo logs and other files in the folder oradata, above mentioned document said to rename!
I need to rename, how to rename, according to the above statement SQL node1 is a non-existent node, we only saw his backup tracks only. If I rename as the statement above, this I have to give the old location where the redo log was before, or I can give the name, (yes I know it is a logical representation not a physics).

Someone explain how to represent this log redo my new database.

Do not back up the database using the same catalog of recovery recovery catalog of accommodation. You could just try it back up without a recovery catalog and to ensure that this database has an automatic backup of controlfile, for example.

  • How to create a Pool of connections to two different databases in OBIEE

    Hello

I have a requirement where few reports coming from databases and a few others to another database. I created two pools of connections and added the frame connection details. But when I created the report I get error as below.

State: HY000. Code: 10058. [NQODBC] [SQL_STATE: HY000] [nQSError: 10058] A general error occurred. [nQSError: 43113] The message returned by OBIS. Now, I would like to see if I can create a pool of connections to two different databases. If so, how that happen.

    Thank you!

    Hi Antonio,.

Cross database joins are possible, no problem for it. But you do not do so in an object of unique data base in the physical layer using 2 pools of connections connection to the source A and B, then adding objects to A and B children of your unique database.

You create 2 databases in the physical layer, each with its own connection pool, then you can do your knuckles crossed on the physical schema.

As a picture is worth a thousand words, take a look:

The physical diagram uses objects of A and B and define the rules of the join between them, it is a cross-database join. But in the physical layer of the database A and B are 2 separate objects each with its own pool of connections.

  • How can I access a repository of two different system work?

Please let me know how I could access a repository of two different system running studio odi client. I am able to access the master repository, but not the working repository.

Repositories of work are always associated with a same master repository. If you can access the control, you will be able to access its repositories of work as long as your security config allows for your user. Maybe it's that you set only a connection to the master repository only on your connection customer of Studio profile. Change the connection (from the connection dialog) profile and simply choose the working repository you want to connect.

  • REPLICAT: search sqlexec on a table resides on a different database

    Hi all

I use GoldenGate 12 c as an ETL.

I need to search on a table resides on a different database than the target of one in a REPLICAT process and insert the records in the target database when an insert on a source table is detected.

I took a chance with sqlexec but I don't know how to operate it.

My Replicat process would have two clauses userid (a single connection to the target of access database) and the other to access a database of external research?

    Rep REPLICAT

    MAP, TARGET

    SQLEXEC (ID insertLookup, &)

    QUERY ' insert into schema1.table1 (select * from db2:schema2.tab2) where...', &

I did find an example on sqlexec search against a table resides on a different database.

    OGG Admin Guide 17.4 (http://docs.oracle.com/goldengate/1212/gg-winux/GWUAD/wu_customcode.htm#i1047744)

Oracle GoldenGate provides a marker system event, also known under the name of the event marker

infrastructure (EMI), which allows the Oracle GoldenGate process to make sense

action based on event record in the transaction log or in the trail (according to the)

    the process data source).

    ---------------

As per above mention of documentation OGG, EVENTS are based on log files path or transaction recording, but in your case, it is the event of the outside world (e.g. external database) and rest of things would stay the same. In most cases, users want to use the data or find data based on recordings of the event, but in your case, the need is different and event record is so. It shouldn't be a problem.

  • Imported between different databases

    Hello

First it no option to import a file of transport of a D1IM 7.0.1 installation based on SQL Server to Oracle-based installation?

When I try to import a transport file I get this error:

    Any ideas?

    Thank you

    Best regards

    Josep.

There is cmd for the Transporter.exe/force command-line option.

Please be aware that any SQL statement which could be part of your means of transport as part of the templates, scripts, reports etc. may not work depending on your SQL Code.

This is why the carrier does not matter across different database types.

  • APEX on a database by using a different database security

I'm new to APEX so please forgive me if my question is elementary or if it crosses also ignoring.  My organization uses APEX for the first time and you are looking to fill a specific role.  I don't know if we want APEX can be done.

Here's what we want to do:

We want to create an app of the APEX on A database.

My APEX application will be used to modify database tables b.

Users have usernames, passwords and access set up on the basis of data B.

When users access the application of APEX, we want the application to use the database security B.  In other words, it connects using the IDs and passwords for database B.

    So:

I go to the application of the APEX

He invites me to the user ID, I enter one I use when I log on database B.

He asks me a password, I get the one I use with database ID B.

    I click OK.

Forms are loaded with the data accessible by my ID on the B database.

Changes on the forms and my user ID is marked as one making changes to database b lines.

In other words, I just want to use the database A to build and enhance the application.  Anyone can run the application, but they must connect using their database B ID and password to make changes.

    (1) is it possible?

    (2) how to configure in the application of the APEX?

Thanks for your help on this.

APEX does not work like that.

APEX is nothing more than a bunch of PL/SQL code that runs on the database, it is installed on and run the code as "pattern analysis".

Comment on "works on the basis of data"

If you want APEX to read data from a different database, you use a DATABASE LINK

for example to SELECT a report

    Select * from scott.emp@db2

I doubt that one of the assistants APEX you'll love.

    comment "works like «pattern analysis"»

If your application has an analysis of 'BOB' scheme... all SQL and PL/SQL code will run as BOB.

The "DB"account "security" is more a misnomer.  APEX only checks that the entered name and password match that of the database that it is installed on.

Once verified, APEX performs a 'switch user' for the 'scheme of analysis. "  (Authentication of proxy in Oracle)

That's how web applications work... they use a shared schema.

    WORK AROUND

Connect to the APEX by ADR, no EPG.  Will prevent it people to access the database directly.

The next thing that you need is a SCHEME of ANALYSIS dedicated to the execution of SQL and PL/SQL.

As any other database USER, it shouldn't be the same schema as the schema that contains all of your data. (Analysis schema! = data schema)

Personally, I like to my 'space work [schema]' separated also.

You will most likely need to use a database of private virtual control data access.

    Required Code changes

If none of your code using the username 'USER' column, you need to change to COALESCE (V ('APP_USER'), USER)

(I prefer to COALESCE on NVL because I anticipate different infrastructure that works similar to APEX)
