For some reason when I try to import from it and select the secondary file as a Source, only the RAW (NEF) images appear in the preview pane (sorry, forgot the correct term for it!). I know that jpg files are in this auxiliary file on the external hard drive, because when I view its content in Windows, they are all there. But try as I can (choose the file under source, select the folder parent as a source, try to copy or move them, instead of adding them), nothing seems to work. Since they do not appear in the preview pane, I can't import them. It does appear that this a Subfile where the problem exists, but I don't see anything that is different from the others (names of files under all use the same structure - yyyy-mm-dd_custom name, and pictures in all subfolders are adopting the same denomination structure too - yyyy-mm-dd_sequential number_custom name.) NAVE/JPG. So what I am doing wrong? Any ideas please.

  It is possible that the images in this particular subfolder were taken in your camera in RAW + JPEG.  If so, you will need to go to preferences under the general tab and make sure the box "processing JPEG files files next to raw as separate photos" is checked.

  

  However, assuming that this is the case, there is really no reason to import the JPEG file if you already have the RAW file.

  Yes. Find LR catalog file in Edit/settings/general catalogue. Close LR and go to this place. The catalog file is one that ends by .lrcat - move it where you want. Beside the .lrcat file is a subfolder called Previews.lrdata. You can move, but if you don't not LR will generate new insights. Double-click the .lrcat file in her new home and LR will open with this catalogue. Set preferences in more recent catalogue.

  LR is not a file Explorer. He knows only the disks that you imported photos of.

  If you have previously imported these photos, then later moved into the external hard drive, go to the library files and "update location" Panel on the files that you moved.

  If you have never imported these images on the external hard drive, perform an import by using the option 'Add' (not ' copy') to keep the images on the external hard drive during import.

  What exactly did you go where? See make a library of portable split. Maybe you can put the parts back together in the correct form on the external hard drive and then shift-Start iTunes to open the library there.

  By default, LR saves all changes in the catalog, and that applies to any type of file.

  Optionally, you can save changes to the file as well, for raw files owners, this will create a xmp file - for DNG that changes are going to be cooked in the file, without additional xmp file.

  But it does not default. Go to the catalog and parameters under the control of metadata automatically save changes to XMP.

  Unless you do this, the changes are saved only in the catalog.

  Export requires two steps:

  • Select first quality, the regime, the regime of subfolder, and then click 'export' of file naming.

There was a suggestion to open iTunes, while holding down the SHIFT key (keyboard of Windows) and this should allow me to create a new library or open an existing one - none of these options appeared, my result was iTunes open normally and showing all my purchased songs. The other suggestion is to open iTunes - file - Library - Library to import the backup file, but also no results.

  It seems it should be easy but... not for me to do something. Can anyone offer advice that does not suggest that I have to re - import all the music?

  The file that you must replace is located in the following location.

  / Users/USERNAME/music/iTunes/iTunes Media/Music

  Just replace the one on your Mac with the library you want. Don't forget, it's only music, not any what other apps, videos etc., if you want to replace it, replace the entire iTunes Media.
