Move Photos hard disk internal to external hard drive
I'm running out of space on my internal hard drive. I want to spend existing photos on an external hard drive (I know how to put new photos on an external hard drive). I don't want to lose the existing photo editing history. How can I go about it?
It is quite easy to do. I've written the steps described in this blog I can move my Lightroom photos on a hard drive 9. | Orchard view color

Good afternoonI am relatively new to VCO and have only recently setup in our environment. I managed to get a virtual machine are implemented in a work as a model and he joined our nice area with a few other changes. The last part of the puzzle is, once deployed a new virtual machine from a template, at the end of the orchestrator task I want to automatically change "HARDDISK2' (the second the new virtual machine hard disk) to a different data store. The workflow "Relocate virtual machine disks" under "library/vCenter/Virtual Machine Management/move and migrate / ' folder does not move the hard disks in the virtual machine, but it moves 1 hard drive and hard disk 2 of the virtual machine. I just want it to do "Hard Disk 2. Does anyone know how I can change this workflow just to the second hard drive?
Kind regards
Dai
The disks are 0-indexed... are you try to move the disk named disc 2? If so, this would drive 3... If you have only two disks, they are disk 0 and disk 1 so that you do not want to specify disk 1 as to again spend data store. In my test, my virtual machine running were 6 disks and I moved with success from disks 0, 1 and 2.

I want to move my hard drive from a computer with a motherboard dead to a newer machine. The activation process failed. How can I get the operating system XP Professional sp3 reactive? I have the code original and other info.
original title: Moving the death machine driveHello CarrolScott,
The activation problem arose because the hardware on your current computer does not match that of the hardware on the machine whose mother is dead.
The best option for the reactivation is to use the telephone line. This, unfortunately, is automated and may refuse to turn on your system; However, don't despair just rest on the line after the automated atcivation crossed its procedure and you will be transferred to a real person. Tell this person you've done, and it should be able to help activate.

my laptop is dying, I can move my hard drive to another computer and still use vista coa?
Hello
It depends on the type of license you have, as to whether you can transfer it or not.
Pre-installed Licenses OEM (HP, Acer, etc.) and the Microsoft System Builder OEM licenses are tied to the first machine that they are installed on and channels of license when this machine dies.
OEM licenses are not transferable.
If you have purchased your own license for sale retail of Windows and installed yourself, yes you can transfer it to another computer.
Retail licenses are transferable.
Just be sure that you have only installed on one machine at a time.
A single license means one Installation.
And if it is retail and transfer you, in all likelihood will have to reinstall the operating system, as this disc hard the 'old' aura card mother drivers installed, which will cause starting problems.
See you soon.

Hello! I use a MacBook Air OX Yosemite 10.10.5. I need disk space and have already been warned that my drive is full. I've immediately backed up using Time Machine. I don't have that 4.94 GB of free space on 499,05 Go. 104.26 GB is GB 161,97 movies and Photos.
I went to "Images" then "photo library" and touch "control C" then I opened my external HD (it is formatted for Mac) and click on "order V. It seems that he just copied successfully. I have verified this by clicking on each of them, then 'control' 'get info' and looked at the amount of GB each had and it's the same thing.
My question is threefold > r: I did this right, it's the best way to ensure that all the photos and videos copied on correctly? and b: How can I remove my internal now 'photos' and use my hard drive every time I open pictures?
and finally c: This means now that my photos will synchronize is no longer? It's fine for me if they don't synchronize... I can do it manually, but I'm curious to know how it works if they normally go to all devices, but now is not on the internal hard drive.
THANKS FOR MANY WHO ANSWER CALLS TO HELP ME!
A. you did it right. You just had to copy the library of Photos to the new location, but do not delete the old library until you've checked out the new one does not work correctly.
B. open the Photos while pressing the Alt key and search the photo library on your external drive. Choose and check that all your photos are here. After you be sure that you can remove your in-House photo library of the folder you stored it (usually the pictures folder).

I have a trial version of lightroom 5 and would like one once and forall to restore order to my two drives hard and lightroom 5 collection. Some photos in lightroom 5 seem to have lost their way. Some are in folders of Windows 7 and others are 9 elements. I made backup copies of some records and would like to have a more systematic approach to save them in the future. I have a NAS (network access storage) device and an additional hard drive, I thought that it would be better to use my cell phone as main for my photo files working memory such that it would be faster to work with the NAS or external and then again everything down to the NAS and external. I consider that the main challenge group all files and as much as possible to preserve the sides I gave photos; I would like to eliminate duplicats. on both the hard drive and in lightroom. I watched one of the vidios of initial training on the 'library' of the adobe help section and the presenter talked about two ways to import photos. the first and I think that I will use in the future is to open lightroom and import from the SD directly rather than having the Windows 7 import, and then ask to lightroom to find them. If anyone Kow of an exhaustive enumeration of the instructions on how to clean up my hard drives that would be extremely useful? Peter
I doubt that it is a list of instructions to wipe a hard drive, because each starting situation is different and your 'own' is probably very different than my "clean".
But let's clear up a few things first. From your writings, it seems that you think that you have stored pictures in post-secondary education and photos stored in LR. This is not correct. None of these programs to store your photos. All your pictures are on your hard drive, in folders, somewhere.
Regarding the missing photos in Lightroom, when you move or rename your photos and folders outside of the Lightroom, Lightroom doesn't know where they are and bring back them as being absent. To fix it, see: http://www.computer-darkroom.com/lr2_find_folder/find-folder.htm related to that, you don't want to 'clean up' things in Windows and also "clean things" upward in Lightroom. Instead, once you import photos into Lightroom, you must do all the managing photos in Lightroom, not Windows, otherwise you'll just create several missing files.
Regarding duplicates, Lightroom has some tools to detect duplicates. He will try to prevent duplicates during the import, and if you are unable to import duplicates, you can use the "auto stack by Capture time" to try to find additional duplicates. But if those who do not work, then're it pretty much on your own.
With regard to put photos on your laptop to work on them rather than on your external hard drive, I think you will find that this gives a fraction of a second speed improvement that you may even not notice, which will be offset by the time you spend moving somewhere else photos when finished. So just put the photos in their final destination on your external HD or a NAS file and don't bother moving them to the internal HD.
Which leads to another point. Once you have done this 'cleaning', your workflow should be to put the photos in a place and then do not transfer! (Exception: not enough space on the disk or moving to another drive/computer) Make your life easier as possible.
One last point: seriously consider using keywords and other metadata for the Organization, rather than move photos/files from here to there, to reach the organization. These tools in Lightroom will give you the possibility of organizing in a much more powerful and flexible organization and what you can do by moving the photos/files from here to there. (Note: If you want all the photos in a sort of centralized location because it meets your storage needs, can do that because it meets your storage needs.) In this collection of photos in a centralized location, using keywords and other metadata to achieve organization and research)

Qosmio X X 870-1006: browsing movies to HARD drive
Hi, I'm new here and I want to question asa...
I recently purchased a qosmio.
It was working fine, until one day I tried to watch a movie to the HARD drive.
It was great and everything, but then I realized that the tone of voice is higher.
It started to sound a bit like the Chipmunk and the speed of video playback is faster than expected (maybe it's the cause of the noise problem))... but when I also try to play a movie on a DVD disc it works perfectly fine.I tried all the videos I have on my HARD drive, and each has the same problem.
Can someone help me?
Have you tried different software as for example the VLC Player?
Try it!
Install VLC player and test how would be the video files from the HARD driveBy the way: what types of video files are affected (avi, mp4, mpeg, etc.)?

The old computer was a Dell 8200 demension. It is the power supply is dead and its processor was 8 years, so I decided to build a new. I have a backup of the system on a USB hard drive. I have also all my important files backed up. I realize that the old HD and his backup, both, all dell settings and drivers. I'm not trying to circumvent the licensing rules. I'm willing to pay Microsoft. Should I buy a new drive with XP SP3 pro/c. I hesitate to switch windows 7 yet.
Thanks for any info. You must buy a new XP Pro and install it on the new computer. Transfer your data from the old disk to the new. You can then format the old drive and use it for extra storage if you wish. MS - MVP - Elephant Boy computers - don't panic!

Move the HARD drive to the new virtual machine
I think it's a real simple question, so a simple answer is very well...
I currently have a computer virtual running windows server 2003 x 86. This whole system is on C: and the D: is strictly files/shared user. I need to upgrade this server 2 k 8 R2 x 64. My plan is to detach the D: to the x 86 box, create a new x 64 VM and reattach the D: from the old server and re-create the shares.
My question is, when I do that, I would wait to see the security reset on the player? As in the new operating system will reorganize the security on all of its default value...
Other issues anyone do with it? Simple enough? It is about 300 GB of user data, so I'm just a little nervous about it. (it is supported of course however).
Thanks for any info!
I think that when you remove the drive and re - join a new virtual machine, it will inherit the rights of the current operating system. It is the same concept as if you had a USB HDD shared, connected to a PC, removed and attached to another PC. You would lose your actions and all other settings.
You should not have problems - make sure to note all the shared available on disk as well as any special permissions (as denies explicit for Active Directory).

move a hard drive from MBP 2012 in a mac mini 2009
Hello
I bought a 500 GB ssd and I am cloning my macbookpro HD 500 gb on it at the moment.
I plan to use my macbookpro HD to replace my 120 GB mac mini HD.
I wonder if it could be possible to put the macbookpro HD in the mini without deleting its content, which would allow me to win time install OSX and the transfer of data from my macbookpro? Would it cause problems?
I upgraded from the mac mini 8 GB RAM.
The macbookpro turning El Capitan.
I just bought used the mac mini and is currently under Leopard, but would like to have of El Capitan on it.
Thanks for your advice.

The Mini can run 10.11.x, the only thing I'm not sure of is if the supplied Apple MBP 6/Gbs Player supports the Mimi 3/Gbs speed... most do, but...

Move the hard disk to my G5 to mac intel &; update?
I would like to physically move a hard drive from my mac G5 (OS 10.4.11) for mac intel xeon. Once the HD in the Intel Mac I could use my Snow Leopard installation disc to upgrade this drive to 10.6.8 without problems. The old operating system will be written to the wire and all my other files remain intact? Looks like an easy way to migrate from G5 Intel if it works.
Any help is very appreciated.
I forgot to mention: the G5 HD I would move out will be a hard drives. The startup disk is running 10.6.8.
