I assume you are using Windows DVD Maker?

It is possible that your project includes some incompatible
source files or may be too complex... IOW too
transitions, effects, etc...

As an experience... try to work with a small simple project.

Several formats are apparently compatible with
Movie Maker, but the most reliable choices are:

Photos - bmp
Video - wmv or dv - avi
Music - wma, wav, wmv

  • Using Windows Movie Maker on the error message XP__ not indexed _ bad quality

I use Windows Movie Maker XP (version 2.1?).  I've converted and imported a lot of videos.  I have a group of short videos recorded the same day.  I (with free STROKE) converted to AVI and they play with no audio and several play accelerated.  I've then diverted to ASF and some of them imported correctly.  Most of them gave me an error message that they were not indexed.  I downloaded several things to remedy this from online forums: I uninstalled K-Lite pack codec, Expression Encoder 4, WinDVR AVI, DivFix, lame and a number of things.  That's a family movie, I spent a lot of time on it.  If anyone can help with my old hardware and software configuration at this point I'd appreciate it.  The original film seems to be of much better quality than what I am able to import.  Thank you!

The most reliable video format for Movie Maker is. WMV.

No guarantee... but the following freeware converter
    may be worth a try:

Restore point before installing software or updates)

    Sothink Free Video Converter
    http://www.Sothinkmedia.com/video-converter/
    (Windows XP / Vista / 7)

You will need to unzip the file... or you could just drag
the Setup.exe from the file out of the folder and drop it on your
    desktop and install from there.

Once installed... Open Sothink and go to... Add the files button...
Find and select the clips you want to convert.

Next... in the encoding settings... Choose... Video credits.
WMV - Windows Media Video (*.wmv).

Choose an output folder and on the left, click on the button convert.

You can experiment with other settings later but
This should help you get started.

  • Try to use Windows movie maker but the error message

    Hello

I try to import a file from a folder on my computer .mpg, but it keeps giving me an error message "interface has too many methods to fire events from. What does that mean?

"... An interface has too many methods to fire events from... "a word geek, which translates as"... you try to use a MPEG-2 file in Movie Maker, and it won't import or work... ". ».

The simple answer is to stop to try and convert the file to an AVI or WMV file that will work.

It cannot record movies, I create somehow.

    Hi Rob,

    Thanks for the reply.

It would be useful that you could answer this question to help you further.

This happens with a particular .avi file or all the avi files?

It seems to me that there is no available codecs to read the file format, you are trying to read. I suggest you check the type of file you play; You should be able to understand this by checking the file extension.

Right click on the file and click Properties, under file format, you should be able to find the file type.

You can check the link for more information on codecs below:

    Codecs: Frequently asked questions

You can also reset the Windows Media Player in Windows 7.
    Step 1.
    Uninstalling Windows Media Player:
    a. go to start and in the search type 'Turn Windows has or not'.
    b. click on "Turn Windows features on or off".
    c. find multimedia and uncheck the brand in the face of Windows Media Player.
    d. restart the computer
    Step 2.
    Reinstall Windows Media Player:
    a. go to start and in the search type 'Turn Windows has or not'.
    b. click on "Turn Windows features on or off".
    c. find the multimedia functions and place a check mark in front of the Windows Media Player.
    d. restart the computer.

Now, see if you can play the .avi file in Windows Media Player.

I hope this helps to solve the problem.
