Movie Maker has been designed to download from mini-DV cameras
connected with FireWire... (they record at small cassettes... not

It should be recognized as a drive. If it's... you can download it from

OP: Window Movie Maker will not import an mp3 file. Why?
I tried to imort a song from my music file which is in mp3 format, but the program won't. She won't tell me why, it just says: "C: {file location} .mp3 cannot be imported." I imported 2 other songs that are the same exact format. Why is it cant import the file?
Hello spardigus,
1 - is the full error you get when you try to import the file?
Some of the Mp3 files can be compressed in various formats. I suggest that you search information below and check out them if you are able to import the files.
It might be possible that the file may be corrupted and is not readable by Movie Maker. I suggest that you copy the file to a different location on your computer and you are trying to import.
Also check the size of the file. If it shows 0 bytes, there are good chances that the file may be damaged.
I suggest that you try to convert this file to avi format using an Audio Converter. There are several converters which helps you convert the file in the required format. Convert the file and try to import.
You can use your favorite search engine to find the program that will help convert the files.

Movie Maker: Does not work! A similar program: will not play!
Greetings from Microsoft professionals!
So I just got me a new computer HP desktop with XP and everything works fantastic with the exception of Windows Movie Maker. I use it on a regualr basis to create 2d animation frame-by-frame and it is important that I have functional. Unfortunately, when I open it, it is quick to give me a window "has encountered a problem / needs to close." The debug option is useless. What is really strange is that I managed to get a very similar program called "Camtasia. This program works, although it will not play videos, even his own tutorials! Audio, however, works very well. I find as strange as Media Player plays video smoothly, seems to work on the same basis as the viewers of other programs...?
Things that I've tried, from other responses on blogs, etc. :
-Reinstall Movie maker
-Uninstalling Movie maker (it says it cannot)
-Apparently essential codec packs, one at a time, uninstall the last to avoid "clash".
-Installation of DIVX
-Remove, reinstall Adobe Flash player
-Updated Windows service pack 3
-Updated ActiveX (including suggested Internet security 'custom settings' to allow ActiveX to do his stuff by choosing prompting options
instead of being completely disabled
-Ask my technical friends, suggesting a codec problem.
I've been at this for eight hours, and this is my last ditch in order to understand this. Help, please!
Hello.
I suggest you to download the latest version of Windows live movie maker and check. Here is the link: -
My Windows XP Movie Maker does not work on my laptop GOLD.
I can open it, but every time I try to download nothing happens. The files are in a flash drive and I can visualize, but when you try to download, it does not show that the document exists. I can download YouTube editor but is not a good editor. I don't understand why I can't "make it work on Movie Maker. I did all the updates for XP but I don't know if that has to do any.
Did you that you have the latest version of windows live Director? I know that you said you made xp but I do not think that windows update does movie maker go that you download from the download section of the microsoft Web site.
Let us know if you have the latest versions. I think that the older versions may not have use of mp4, but not 100% sure.

This behavior can occur if an incompatible video filter is installed on the computer.
Step 1: To resolve this problem, start Movie Maker in safe mode, and then configure Movie Maker so that the incompatible video filter is not loaded.
Follow the steps mentioned in the link below.
