Moving from my old iMac 27 "to a new

What is the best method to move all my setting, applications and files from my old iMac 27 "to my new iMac 27"?

Thank you

Amnon

Back it up to an external USB drive. Then, connect the hard drive to the new Mac and restore your stuff in the same places where they came from. Make sure that the new admin account, you create the new Mac has the same user name and password that your the one used on the old Mac. This avoids issues with permissions on the data transferred.

Such a download may appear on your computer as follows: Firefox installer.dmg. Remove the download and return to the main site where you will find a direct link to the Web site. To avoid these downloads to MU simply create a free membership account. Sign in to your account before using the site. You can avoid the wrappers of the installer and download of adware or malware. I continue to use their site without any problems.

I'm moving from PC to iMac. I think that I have brought successfully my profile. My work id of addressbook, but no mail received file is obvious. The Mail subfolder in the profile of 'new' - "Mail" - is about the same size - 1.6 GB - as it was on the PC, so I guess that the mail has not moved, however, there is no sign of what I can find on the page "news" of Thunderbird. I did move by copying the profile folder of the PC on the Mac desktop, raise the profile of Mac beside him folder and dragging the PC Mail subfolder to the mail folder in the Mac profile. I think I am way over my head here; I really want to solve the problem, so I can mothball the PC. Thanks is advance for your help.

OK, the ini file will be

    MacHD>Users>RKW (me)>Library>Thunderbird

The profile folder will be in MacHD > users > RKW (me) > library > Thunderbird > profiles with a name like d1234pg. By default. When copying content. It is this lower level folder called. Not MacHD > users > RKW (me) > library > Thunderbird > profiles.

To simplify a little (I hope so.

Install Thunderbird. go to the Help menu in Thunderbird and select troubleshooting information.
In this tab, click on the button show the frlder for the profile.
Finder will open with the open current profile folder.
    Close Thunderbird.

Now, locate the old profile folder, it will be contains pref.js as a file among many others.
Copy the files and folder to this folder, and place them in the new folder Thunderbird open in the Finder for you. To replace the files.

Open Thunderbird and you should have it all.

  • Passwords Firefox inside old iMac to MacBook Pro new

    Hello:

I tried to use the add-on, exporting password. He works for export from my old iMac but when I tried to install exporter of password on my new MacBook Pro running Firefox v37.0.2, I get the message "password exporter could not be installed because it is not compatible with Firefox 37.0.2.".

    So . . . .

Is there another way to export and then import Firefox passwords?

    Thank you

    Thank you!

I've used both and they both work.

First of all, I transferred the files logins.json and key3db of my old Firefox my Firfox again on the new MacBook Pro. Alto! It worked!

Then I registered Firefox Sync. It will be the end of my problems to keep up-to-date on both computers.

BTW. I discovered that both computers running Firefox v37.0.2. Apparently the problem is with the password exporter. It cannot be installed on Firefox v37.0.2, but if it is installed before you upgrade to Firefox v37.0.2 that he continues to work.

    Thanks again!

If I understand correctly this mess that you wrote using English words, but slight demonstarates application to use the appropriate syntax, you now have files on a hard drive connected by USB you want to use. It would help if you could please post the exact procedure that you use and the text of the error messages that you get when you try to access these files.

  • Transfer data from old iMac (2008) to the new (end of 2015)

I was not able to find a convenient way to transfer data from my old mac (iMac 21 of 2008) to the new. (iMac 27 5K 4.0 El Cap) One thing... I have no ports firewire on the new iMac... then I have no crush on the old... What I've read says that you must use one or the other and both ends must be the same. If anyone knows where I can find "usable" information please let me know. Thanks in advance

Use a Thunderbolt adapter, FireWire or back up your system to an external drive and migrate to it.

    Hello

I know this has been asked in many ways yet:

I have a complete set of plug-ins from Nik/Google-how can I migrate these?

  • News Time Capsule, who am I clicking / moving from the old to the new

I am installing a new time machine.  I can't find anything that clearly explain what exactly I'm clicking and dragging from the old to the new.  It States in the article apple in the Finder to drag the time capsule backup disk image to the new original airport.  I do not see that whatever this is called image backup drive when I'm in the Finder.  I have the following:

OS X El Capitan, version 10.11.5

    MacBook, late 2009

Airport Time Capsule, 1 TB, think its 3rd generation

Here is the link to the apple site I use for instructions.

    https://support.Apple.com/en-us/ht204078

When I click on the time capsule (when connected via Ethernet), I see a yellow folder called data. Data are referred to as a sharepoint under type.

When I double click on data, Finder displays the content on my time machine which are as follows:
    -' of a lizardson MacBook"it's a sparsebundle
    -' of a lizardson MacBook 1"is a sparsebundle

-3 or 4 files that I created to copy things from my computer not apple at the time machine and back to my mac

I also noticed that after I double-clicked on data I see an icon on the desktop, title given (with the icon that represents the data on a time capsule).

In Time Machine preferences, when I click Select backup disk, call it data (and has the same icon as the one on the desktop).

The State of instructions to click and drag in the finder... but think (which is probably not correctly) I'm docking time at my office - and just above machines drag this folder 'Data' on a new via the Office of the former?

  • How can I get my old iMac Mavericks on my new computer El Capitan iPhoto?

I'm an amateur photo with literally thousands of photos of scenic and nature, all labeled with keywords and manually marked locations (since my DSLR is not an internal GPS and therefore cannot automatically geotag photos) in iPhoto on our old computer that runs on the Mavericks. Recently, we bought a new iMac that runs on El Capitan, and when we moved my data from the old computer, all of my iPhoto library moved into Photos. Unfortunately, because the pictures does not support the manual tagging locations, all hours of work I put in dropping the pins on maps to show the exact location where all my photos have been taken has disappeared. Enter Photos and keywords to adapt to all of the States, cities and specific locations where these pictures were taken just is not practical; my list of keywords would get horribly difficult to handle, and a good number of these photos were taken in "one-of-a-kind" tasks because they were taken on the fly from a moving vehicle. And that is not even taking into consideration all overtime work that would result. There must be someone out there who is dealing with the frustration of having to deal with a system that was designed for the casual snapshot-takers rather than serious photo enthusiasts! I still have the old computer with iPhoto installed on it and all the photos that I put in it until we bought the new computer. Is it possible that I can get the old computer to the new iPhoto? Can I put it on an external drive or DVD and copy it to the El Cap computer as iPhoto, or will it simply push all in Photos or choke and gag on that? I continue to work with my photos in iPhoto on your old computer, and I hope that he does not die in the near future? (And while we're at it, has any outside me informed Apple photos how bad works for those who need features in iPhoto that does not get incorporated in the Photos? I left a note on the comments, but I have no way of knowing if someone is on my suggestion.)

Click here and try following the instructions; you will only be able to do if you got before where associated with iPhoto on the Mac App store.

A version of aged more than 9.6 iPhoto does not open in Yosemite and newer.

you want to install more hard drive. How can I move all of the data, os, games, music, etc.

    and have computer always starts.

    Hello

You cannot move by themselves programs

you need to reinstall it from the original media

read this about moving everything, including the operating system

or save your data and reinstall clean vista

There are different ways to do

hard drive manufacturers will normally provide the cloning software to move your operating system installed from the old to the new hard disk

Search for information on this subject on their Web site

If you have vista business or ultimate, you can use the builtin vista complete PC Backup to move

    read the information below

    http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/tutorials/tutorial145.html

or if you have vista home version you'll need 3rd party software

link below is an example of this:

    http://www.Acronis.com/homecomputing/products/TrueImage/index.html

also to put your machine how you bought:

    1. that vista is preinstalled, you should have a recovery on your old hard drive partition

You can recovery disks to reinstall on your new hard drive

ask the manufacturer of the machine how

    2. contact the computer manufacturer and ask them to send you to vista recovery disks to reinstall the operating system back as it was when you bought it

they do it for a nominal cost of $

    3. or borrow a microsoft dvd vista

Make sure that you borrow the correct 32-bit or 64-bit microsoft dvd to your computer

they contain all versions of vista

This is the product key that determines which version of vista is installed

Save all data, because it will be lost, do the above

  • Recovery of my favorites from an OLD hard drive to a new PC

I took the old drive from the laptop and put it in a USB enclosure, so I now my whole OLD hard drive as drive E... .but no applications will run in fact of course.
Then... I want to find my OLD profile on drive E (especially the bookmarks) and the copy and put it in my NEW installation of firefox on the C drive. The two computers were / are running Win7 64 bit if that helps.
Thank you very much in advance for any help.

If explore you the following folder, it should contain your profiles:

    drive:\Users\username\AppData\Roaming\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles

You may need to display the hidden files and folders: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/show-hidden-files#show-hidden-files=windows-7

If you find more than one folder, try the one with the most recent modification date and look inside a folder bookmarkbackups. Here you should find the individual .json files with dates in file names. The most recent copy to a more convenient location like your Documents folder. Then, you can use the steps in the following article to restore to your new installation of Firefox:

Please note that the restore process completely replaces all you have in your new Firefox. If you need to preserve the new bookmarks you have saved, you can use the import/export process, as described in this post: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/962313#answer-446564

    A little luck?

Note that, there could be other data you want to recover. This article can help: recovering data from an old profile.

  • HP laptop 15 15-f113ca: transfer files from my old HP laptop on my new HP laptop

I'm trying to transfer my files from my old HP laptop with Windows 7 on my new HP laptop with Windows 8.1. I use Windows Easy Transfer, but I have questions. My old notebook gives me a transfer type in my new key but my new laptop is not giving me an option to do so. He just asked me if I saved my files from my old PC. I am very confused and need help please!

    Here's an article about it.

    http://www.pcpro.co.UK/blogs/2014/07/11/Windows-easy-transfer-%25e2%2580%2593-not-so-easy-in-Windows-8-1

Basically Windows 8.1 won't allow file transfer in a network. You need to get an external drive and have Windows 7 easy transfer of files do archive and then transfer those in installing Windows 8.1. There are workaround solutions in the article, but they are a bit complicated. The first proposal is to create a drive on the computer of Windows 8.1 target and then share and map it on the Windows 7 machine and then bring the files backup archives in the mapped drive on the Win 7 machine that is actually on the hard drive of the machine Win 8.1. Pretty sleek but yu can not know how to do this. Post back if you want more help.
