  • Portege Z30 - problems of USB - error Code 10 using the disk external HARD - SOLUTION

    Hello

I wanted to just connect a problem and the solution I just got/found. It's about a Z30 with an installation of Windows 7 32 bit and a 1 TB mSATA SSD.

I was unable to get any USB 2.0 drive Flash or any (if USB or USB 3.0) external HARD drive to work. They would try to install but I'd end up with a yellow warning triangle in Device Manager.

After various attempts of a workaround - I spotted alongside the driver.sys and usb.sys load - there was a mysterious driver which I finally tracked down the wizard of related software.

After uninstalling the magician - all USB keys and external HARD drive worked perfectly.

Do not have this problem with an other Toshiba with a standard SSD EVO and magician - so not quite sure that the installation is triggered it.

    However problem now * solved.*

  • Mystery needs Solution! Drive hard dv6258se

    Hello

I recently got an error #1-07 on my test diagnostic message and decided to replace my hardrive.  I checked the specs for my box and ordered a SSD drive suitable to replace the original disc.  Or at least I thought it was the original drive.  The form of State that my box comes with a SATA I drive, but the bios and Device Manager claim that the drive is SCSI.  My box has been recalled twice to correct the defects/factory model, pourrait HP replaced the SATA drive with SCSI drive during this time?  I check the model number two disks to check what they are, but that did not really help since the original Toshiba MK1234GSX both the new 830 SSD from Samsung come in SATA and SCSI.  I checked the Samsung is SATA, but cannot confirm the Toshiba.

I could format and restore the SSD from the restore disks, but restarting failed and the bios did not find the hard drive.  Subsequent attempts to restart grew up a NVIDIA, read error.  When I put the disc Toshiba back in it starts but is still VERY slow.  Click, wait 10 minutes, click, wait...

Everything I read on the State of the boards that the default value of the bios is SATA, but retoring bios factory settings has not solved the problem.

What is going on?  Please help and advise.

    Thank you.

PS being new I accidentlally posted in the wrong place: you will find a more detailed description in the Desktop section, where I posted recently submitted: hp dv6258se drive hard toshiba appearing as SCSI but spec says SATA

Yes, him talking about HP guy to me and I even found many other complaints about the disks SATA is read as a SCSI, it was a common occurrence from 06-08 and then had no performance impact that is a possible reason why the SSD is not compatible in theory it should be.

.. .He explained that because player plugs directly into the motherboard and the chipset software is only formatted to read things a specific way that it will NEVER be read a SATA as a SATA, which might be why the dv6000 are not able to recognize any SSD.  I.E. HP dv6000 is capricious and has a few quirks, if SSD does not occur.

So I'm going to buy a traditional HD, a cert HP technician think I should be able to go as high as a 500 GB HD, but I really just to get my box of operation, so I agree with a 120 GB.

Thanks for your help solved mystery.

  • I see a mysterious third partition on my hard drive that I have not created

    Original title: partition help?

I have a single (physical) HDs, partitioned into two named logical drives. When I open the disk management, I find a 3rd, unamed (12.69 G) partition... no idea what this could be or how I can see what's there?

    Hello

12.69GBs is the approximate size of a recovery Partition, which once used gives your computer to the condition it is in when you bought it new.

Ask the manufacturer of your computer what it's for.

    See you soon.

  • Mystery in the C drive folder

    Hello

I have a laptop running Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit and my partner has a Netbook with Windows 7 Starter.

I noticed a strange folder that contains several other files on the C drive of the Netbook.  I enclose two images of screenshot of the main folder and the files it contains.  These files is not accessible - access denied.  I have no similar folder in the C drive of my laptop.

Can someone please tell me what these files are and what they serve?

The folder is a temporary folder / cache is created by an installation. To delete the folder, the owner of the folder and the content, and then proceed to deletion.

  • FF 38.0.1: what's on: drive and how to disable?

Just spent FF FF 38.0.1 37.0.2 and now on the right side of the location bar, there is a small icon on the page that opens the so-called topic: Reader. She only gives a very LARGE with large page for example Google, but for most of the pages it gives just an error message indicating that the loading of the page does not have. Very mysterious.

I don't really know what this thing 'reader', as far as I know it looks like just another totally useless (and this time very mysterious) feature Add.

And is not removable: when I use the normal way to adjust or remove icons and so on, the small icon of the page can not be or removed.

Edit: just started using FF safe and then it's gone? Don't really know what it is then. It's something again today when I updated to FF 38.0.1. I don't have add on installed to a drive or something like that. See screenshot for the icon.

Oh, well: it is caused by the LittleFox add-on and it will be fixed in the next update

  • iCloud Drive and confusion of local storage

I'm quite confused on iCloud drive works. I had assumed that it could be used like any other option storage file, for example a connected locally external hard drive. But apparently not exactly. Here is my request:

I have a huge (hundreds of gigabytes) Aperture library. Since it is much larger than the storage available on the SSD in my Macbook Pro, I have it on a classic 1.5 TB external harddrive. But I want to save the library to a cloud off-site storage site so that if my house burns down, accidents of HD or someone steals, I have not lost anything. But as I copy files from my drive hard external to iCloud my internal SSD drive fills up completely and the backup finishes. It's a mystery to my as to why iCloud drive isn't teated by OS X like any other volume "attached" to which I can copy or download local files.

My first question, then, is it really how it is supposed to work? If so, my second question is: can someone explain the logic behind this behavior? My last question is: is there some way that I can install iCloud drive on both , my external hard drive and my drive internal, but both have the same account iCloud?

Thanks in advance for all advice and counsel.

iCloud is a synchronization system, not an external storage system. If you delete them from the computer/device they will be deleted to iCloud. The files are stored locally on your hard drive that you have discovered.

I can't explain the logic, but this is how it works.

Send feedback to Apple. They will not respond, but at least know that there is a problem. If enough people send feedback, it can become the problem solved as soon as possible.

  • Satellite P300 - Drive necessary explanations

    Hello

Just trying to understand what is on my records. I have Satellite P300-150 with 500 GB. It has 4 partitions (I think) with a hidden.

C: drive is (Vista 117 GB capacity) however its filled up quite quickly so I started saving drive D (232 GB of local disk capacity) which had nothing about it. There is no drive E (but under Advanced System properties, I found a labeled disc WINRE... is this drive E?) Then walk F (data capacity 113 gb with 5 GB used) it's enigmatic whats me... If the mysterious E Drive is the WINRE so what are data on the F drive?

Why have I not 4 discs? The reason I ask, this is drive C is high filling... so I do the right thing to save on drive D instead?

When the D drive is full does that mean I can't use Drive F because there are 5 GB of mysterious data out there?

When I bought the laptop with 500 GB... I thought there would be a drive with Vista and one for all my things. Instead I have not the slightest idea what drives to use and not use.

On a separate issue... the Fn cards flash not working properly I have to start their manually whenever I want to show them on the screen. I used to be able to connect the laptop to TV, and then click HDMI icon and the output on the TV screen. Now I have to restart flash cards before you plug into TV or HDMI out icon does not work. I tried to disable at startup flash cards and then by restarting, but they still won't turn on automatically.

    Hi good

Prior to starting us discussion offer us please some basic information.

Do you have the recovery DVD installation disc?

  • Portege R700 - what is the function "drive optical auto lock?

I can't find it documented anywhere, and it appears to be independent of the STRANGE being ON or OFF.

  • Mysterious slot machine internal on NB520 - 10 p

    Hello

I just bought a 10 p NB520 and when I opened it up to the disk and memory upgrade, I noticed that there is an additional location (uninhabited) next to the disk.

I do not recognize the type of connector although it seems to be of a format similar to that of the module WLAN is connected.

Does anyone know what's the point?

I was wondering if it could be for a WWAN (3G) module, or as a future update to the series NB520 etc., or for the later models using the same case. It also seems to be what looks like a slot for SIM card under the battery.

It doesn't seem to be any info on this Toshiba.

    Thank you, Ian.

If possible, do a photo and post it here.

In any case AFAIK some NB520/NB550/NB550D are delivered with the WWAN card. I guess it has to be this mysterious slot machine. It is located close to the HARD drive.

  • "DVD SuperMulti LightScribe drive / burner" not recognized as LightScribe drive

I've had my desktop PC HP Pavilion Media Center TV m8100y CTO for several years now, but I've never tried using the LightScribe feature to date. I downloaded the drivers and software from [link removed - site is no longer available] newer, but none of that recognizes the "LightScribe DVD SuperMulti Drive/writer" (TSSTcorp CDDVDW SH-222BB) as a LightScribe drive. What should I do to diagnose and fix the problem, so I can use the LightScribe feature?

After looking in the system recovery, I don't think I'm going to run until my PC has more serious problems than the issue of LightScribe. The recovery process of the system to the factory settings and then reinstall everything new is a bit more than I want to go at this point. Thanks anyway for the help, old_geekster. I'm OK with the mystery of LightScribe remaining unsolved for a little longer. When I get to perform a system recovery, I will update this thread with the results regarding LightScribe.

  • NB100 - HARD drive problem?

    Hi all

I was copying data with my NB100 since one external hard drive to another, when all of a sudden the laptop is turned off.
I could feel something near the fan (not burned exctly, but it was the feeling) and now the computer does not start again. When I boot it, it makes noises (Maaaan Meeec Meeec) and the light of the HD front laptop starts flashing.

Do you know what can happen?
I thought that there is a "mysterious" HD failure, but I don't know. I assume that the data is unrecoverable now...

    Thank you

PS: I guess it could also be the card mother (?). If anyone has a suggestion please I need help.

    Hello

It is not easy to say what is really happening, but as you mentioned on the smell might somethings burnt inside the laptop. Theoretically, you can remove the hard drive and try to get into the bios if you will be able to check if the hard drive recognized. Perhaps, there is short circuit in the system when the external drive is connected (sometimes it can happen...). Anyway, if it is under warranty, you must contact the asp (SAV). but don't tell them that it happened to connect the external hard drive :)
