  Yes, 2 different applications. Defender is anti-spyware only and Security Essentials has antispyware and antivirus. Windows Defender is useless if you use Microsoft Security Essentials, given that the built-in anti-spyware component and allows you to disable Windows Defender by design.

  It is not fair to McAfee posing problem with the Defender:

  Hello, just to be sure I have the correct information, Windows Defender lights not in Windows Vista with Microsoft Security Essentials, as Essentials has its own version of the Defender.  The error code I received is the same as the previous posts in which is: 0x800106ba.  Again, just to be sure, I understand, I should stop trying to turn Defender because Security Essentials has covered it, okay?

  Yes; Microsoft Security Essentials should disable Windows Defender for the reasons you mentioned.

The current definitions of MSE download contains the same version of engine 1.1.5502.0 as the current update of WD. How about a link to MS site to learn what MSE; In addition, compared to the WD curiously enough, can not find such a link on the MSE sites.

  Ah, I was wrong. Although the version linked to this article is from 2007 and as such is probably much obsolete. In any case, as you pointed out, they cannot work together and Security Essentials outperforms it far in the protection against threats.

It's 2012, and it's terribly disappointing that Microsoft only has not ironed out all the imperfections in these services now. If anyone can give me a solution (in simple terms), I would appreciate it!
