MSE vs Malewarebytes Pro

My malwarebytes pro found something and blocked - ok never she was arrested MSE to run at all, I tried to install the last MSE without luck so I uninstalled the MSE because I read, you must uninstall the current to get the last MSE, and after malwarebyle found and cleaned the virus can't install MSE (0 x 80070643) - do I need both? should I uninstall the malwarebytes? It actually worked where MSE does not have

A general rule its not wise to install several ant-virus/malware programs, which provide real-time analysis that are contrary to each other.

Malwarebytes is a malware scanner and not an AV program, they see different things

Ken Blake, Microsoft MVP, I run xp - sp3 with mse.  I would also add malwarebytes?

From my experience, Norton 2009 and new products are very good.  I use the free version of Norton Security Suite Comcast on my computer, and it works very well.  I don't like not products of pre-2009 of Norton, who, in my experience, could slow down a computer.  I suspect that someone who says a big NO to all products Norton did not of their most recent.

MSE is also very good, and it's free.

Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware works well with antivirus programs, as long as you download the free version, which has no real-time protection.  There is a chance of bad interactions with antivirus programs if MBAM real-time protection is enabled.  Install the free version, then update and run analyses sometimes.

  • Why don't my background image load times?

Recently, I met a problem on trying to connect to my computer after you have turned it on. The background & only the image background load, no bar of tasks, icons or possibility of anything else that disable via the use of ctrl + alt + del to access the Windows Task Manager.  I ran cc cleaner after that I was finally able to connect & no problem was found real seriously. How I finally managed to make it work is intriguing however still further. After reboot & turn off several times, I gave up & just disconnected from the session. So I thought heck with it and tried to log in again to the login screen, which you know it worked! I still don't know what's going on & would appreciate any input I could get. Of course to reinstall XP came out because I never had the drive to it. It's a 9 years so I guess I should wait for it, even if I need to extend the life a little more until I can build a new 1 in the next few weeks. I also noticed on display sometimes Task Manager, it will take a few seconds to load the CPU & Page File use. I don't know if this minor slow behavior is related to logging in & start problem or not. Apart from this well that my computer works fine, very few errors or not at all. I ran the scan free antivirus Prevex, MSE, Norton, Hitman Pro & the MRT.exe already on my computer, which all are still I'm clean. However, if I am infected somehow I don't know how I can detect even let a solitaire get rid of because if it cannot detect my possible infection even I don't know what will. So yes, you know what might happen or how can I fix / keep him from happening again?

  • What makes a system image

    Hello

My brother-in-law asked me to help him to do an image of its new computer system. It is a Dell Inspiron 660, running Windows 7 Home Premium, MSE, WinPatrol Plus and MBAM Pro, and it has all the important updates installed. We will use the windows built to the creator of the image and put the image on an external hard drive. We looked at the tutorials on the internet about how to do it, but we would like to have some tips on a couple of the item before you start.

In the power Option, there put screen turns off within 10 minutes and the hard drive stops in 15 min we need to define these Never or the the hard disk activity that will occur in the image making process will drive these settings?

Given that MSE, WinPatrol Plus and MBAM Pro all run them in real time, should disconnect us from the internet, out of WP. MBAM and disable real-time protection in MSE while making the picture, and that all when done? If we left them running in real time, could they do something like new updates of definition, which could alter the image?

Any help would be much appreciated.

    LKW198

Sorry for the late reply, as I did a few tests.

    (1) make a system image backup of my C drive (including the recovery partition) on an external hard drive lasts about 30 minutes. It is with my Pro MBAM, WinPatrol Plus, and any antivirus real time without running other programs running and my fast cable internet connection intact. Obviously the size of the backup, the speed of the CPU and hardware all affect this time. I keep my computer on 24/7 and plan these image backups in the wee hours of the morning when I'm not using the PC.  Now, I have a fairly fast processor and lots of RAM, so I recommend you put your hard drive after 15 minutes when a system image backup is scheduled.

Your monitor off shouldn't affect the backup, as long as the hard drive still works. Almost all my backup images were made with the monitor off.

    (2) as far as I know, there is no need to disconnect from the internet, or stop your AV or MBAM Pro update during the imaging process. Never, I took these measures and was able to restore a system image to backup on more than one occasion. At worst, I guess you could lose the current definition updates, which could be easily corrected by performing a manual update of MSE or MBAM Pro.

    (3) I have just restored my system to a picture external HD that I just created by using the Windows 7 backup. The guest said she "could take a few minutes to a few hours. It took about 35 minutes for me, and as far as I know, all the files and programs have been restored intact. It didn't stop my AV or MBAM Pro.

I welcome your attempts to back up your system with an image. I think it is the best way to recover from significant malware infection. An image of the system, of course, is frozen both that you make. Anything be added or created subsequently will be lost with a restoration of the image.  I find that a weekly backup image works in practice. All of the important files that I create between two backups, I save to a flash drive.

  • upgrade to win7 ultimate (win7 home pro) I have to disable MSE?

Upgrade to win7 ultimate MSDN Version (OEM win7 home pro) I have to disable MSE?

I expected to get a Yes or no answer (e.g. YES, they are all three from MicroSoft product, that's why they work perfectly without disable MicroSoft Security Essentials; or NOT, they are all three EM produsts then, of course, you must disable MSE!)

It shouldn't be a problem when you upgrade.

In case you are facing any problem after upgrade, uninstall MSE and restart your PC and download and reinstall. However in the case of normal use, it shouldn't be a problem.

  • Satellite Pro A300: Problem with Microsoft Security Essentials

    Hello

I have a Toshiba Satellite Pro A300 with XP SP3 and now deleted AVG Free and installed Microsoft Security Essentialls (MSE).

The result is after installing MSE and begin my laptop cursor is stuck in the center of the screen and will not respond to the inputs of the mouse or the keyboard.

In aid of F12 to get my startup options allowed me to try the Safe Mode and last known good Configuration etc but they all show the same functionality, IE freeze when the desktop appears. XP seems to be operating in the background, for example system clock stays on time, "notice" system if its wifi singal is removed etc.

Just to make the day to try to do an OS reinstall pressing 0 to on has no effect - system just boots in XP - so I can't my recovery partition!

I have now is not a HW problem as the /kbd cursor works if I boot into a non-windows system, for example UBUNTU CD

Any suggestions welcome - such as can I download a recovery on antother PC CD and burn a recovery CD?

    Hello

I have no idea what happened after installing Microsoft Security Essentials, but it seems that you are not able to access the files on the HARD drive
I think you need to reinstall the operating system using HARD drive recovery.
    http://forums.computers.Toshiba-Europe.com/forums/Ann.jspa?annID=58

But this would format the system partition :(

In order to save the files from the HARD drive, I recommend using / boot from a bootable floppy from Win PE.
Win PE (also called BartPE) is a thin window OS that is bootable CD and don t need to be installed on the HARD drive.

Only, we installed our printer HP Color Laserjet Pro MFP M476dw yesterday and I noticed once it is published a PCL XL Error report instead of what I was printing.  I don't think that anything from him, but today, it happens almost all the time.  I tried to find possible solutions and stumbled upon everyone says to disable AVG...  We do not use AVG, we use MSE.  Is it a driver problem or else?  Any help would be appreciated.  Nothing more annoying than to try to use a new printer and it is not working properly.

I went to the site HP dl had the HP Universal 5 driver and installed it and now it's printing even more crazy.  I enclose a photo of what he does.  It is not fair to Quickbooks, it does also in PDF, Word, and Outlook.

I shouldn't have as many problems with ANY NEW MACHINE!

The trainer would be relatively easy to replace, from what I've read your machine should be guaranteed if you need to contact HP support and they can send you another.

You might even be able to find an authorized service provider who will come out and fix it.

And if its brand new and you bought it in a store to resume.

  • Windows Update is blocked/stands/the download. MSE is hooked on the download of the update. "Preparation set up windows." message on farm.

I have Windows Update problems , starting on 25/05/10.  I've updated from Windows XP Pro sp3 for Win7 Pro in January and had no problems until 4 days ago.

-The update says, there are updates available, but by clicking on the download button, it crashes just at 0%.

-MSE did the same at a standstill in the middle of updates

-Furthermore, I get the message 'preparation set up windows.  Do not turn off your computer"when I turned off the computer , but not when I turn it on.  I ended up leaving it and the computer is off when I wake up the next morning.  It does not when I turn on the computer.

-Win7 now has an icon in the task bar that says ' Windows is downloading updates (all 95%). ", but stated that, for 4 days, and nothing is downloaded.

-I have no update failed I can find in the history of the update.

-Convenience store has not fixed anything.

-Remove pending.xml and reboot.xml did not work.  There is a reboot.xml in the directory, but no pending.xml file.  Any attempt to remove reboot.xml (modification date 26/12/2009) generated the message: "You need permission SYSTEM to make changes to this file."  Attempts to delete the file in an administrator command prompt was an error: "access is denied".

-There is no restore points saved for me to come back to.  System Restore has not been configured properly and had no space to save a restore point (it does now).

-starting in safe mode works very well.  Restart in SafeMode to normal mode works great, but the problems persist.

  • Reinstall windows xo pro sp2/sp3?

Have a laptop with Windows XP Pro SP2 and it is 32-bit. I want to reinstall the OS, but I do not have the CD. How to do this? Where can I get the operating system? Can I download it from any source? Any link?

Now the latest service pack for XP's SP3. So I can download SP3 from the windows website and install it in my pc. Is it free? At the bottom of my pc

There is a sticker that shows the product key. But I think it's the product key of Windows XP SP2. I want to know that can I download XP SP3 and use this product key to reinstall the OS? Am I wrong?

Please explain in detail what to do after I downloaded the OS? I want to download on another computer. How to make a CD so that I can install windows via a CD?

Probably, your laptop has a depression recovery accessible by the F key or modified mechanism F (for example Ctrl) key at boot time. To learn more about this we need the details of your laptop (brand and model). You can find this documented somewhere in the start menu or in a booklet that came with the laptop.

In addition, there are probably a facility to create your own recovery CD/DVDs. Again, look in the start menu and in any document paper. If this facility exists, you should do so as soon as possible because it's your only method of recovery in case of hard drive failure.

Otherwise recovery integrated and/or the creation of recovery media, you will need to contact the manufacturer for recovery media.

You can download a standalone SP3 Installer of...

    http://www.Microsoft.com/download/en/details.aspx?displaylang=en&ID=24

.. .This is only a service pack installation, not a full installer of XP operating system. You can ignore the text which says that it is for network installations and also ignore the text informing Windows/Microsoft Update If a single update of a PC. You will not request a product key.

Indeed you will need this installer of SP3 update of the OS until Windows Update will be operational. Install it before even to try Windows Update.

Recovery of the manufacturer would not normally require the entry of the product key of your sticker. But if this is the case, the key on the sticker is good for recovery and updates including SP3.

After recovery, you must uninstall any AV solution came pre-installed, do the SP3 upgrade without being connected to the internet and then install Microsoft Security Essentials for which a standalone installer can be downloaded here, for example...

    http://www.Microsoft.com/en-US/Download/details.aspx?ID=5201

    .. .or here...

    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows/Security-Essentials-download

Then you can connect to the internet and download MSE (or alternative AV) updates and Windows updates.

A standalone IE8 installation program can be downloaded here...

More info for you, my friend...

When you perform a clean installation of XP Pro, using a brand Dell XP Pro Installation CD (RTM or SP0), you must also all the correct drivers for this PC. If you want or need the latest drivers, go here to enter your Service, and you will see what you need:
(In fact, it will be more that you need. All you really need are DRIVERS for the chipset, network, graphics and audio)
Or if you use some kind of restoration (from a CD or the hidden hard drive partition)? If so, you will not need drivers, but you'll definitely want to uninstall all of the programs of the trial!
I recommend that you download these (and other necessary) files to a USB flash drive.
And here is a link to very detailed instructions on how to perform a clean installation of XP Pro:
Be careful! You don't want to end up wasting your time to perform a parallel installation.
And here are the tips that still work for me:

    1. download the installation of SP2, SP3 and IE8 (beforehand) files. I prefer to keep these (and other useful files) on a USB key, but this is optional. Here are the links to all the installation of three files:

    http://www.Microsoft.com/en-US/Download/details.aspx?ID=28 (for SP2)

    http://www.Microsoft.com/download/en/details.aspx?ID=24 (for SP3)

(You can TOTALLY ignore the message "intended for it professionals"!)

    http://www.Microsoft.com/download/en/details.aspx?displaylang=en&ID=43 (for IE8)

(You need to install IE8 AFTER SP3! Trust in me.)

And if you wish, download the Setup file of a good anti-virus program. I recommend Avira free Antivirus:

    http://www.Avira.com/en/Avira-free-antivirus

(Avast and MSE are also very good.)

    2. disconnect Internet. Also unplug all unnecessary devices.

    3. temporarily disable the automatic updates. To do this:

Start | Control Panel (switch to Classic view if not already selected). Automatic updates

    4. install SP2. Restart TWICE.

5 install the SP3. Restart TWICE.

6 switch to IE8. Restart TWICE.

    7 install an Antivirus software.

(What happens very often is that someone has their software antivirus running as they try to install SP3, which often translates into chaos! "This is why it must be done after installing SP3 and IE).

8 make sure that firewall Windows is activated (it should already be):

Start | Control Panel | Security Center

(Now you can physically reconnect to the Internet. Update Antivirus program.)

9 visit Windows Update to download and install only the critical security updates. Restart each time you are prompted.

10 re - enable automatic updates.
