MsiExec.exe running at all times

Seems I'm always 2 instances of msiexec.exe running at all times. So far, I ran the Windows Installer Clean up tool, enabling the service to manual start and down anti virus scans. I can disable it in the Task Manager, but as soon as I restart, they are all two back on even if I do not want to install anything.

When I try to install anything, I get the message that windows is already install something and try again later. I manually close msiexc.exe with the Task Manager and then the installation goes smoothly.

    Peter-try completely remove Adobe Flash Player, and then reinstall. I did this on my machine and will need to see in the next few days if this has worked for me or not because I don't know how to manually recreate the guest. Best of luck and post back how it goes!

    When you get this error? You try to install a program? Or just come to the top when you restart?

    Try these steps and check:

    Step 1: Stop and restart the Windows Installer Service.

    1. click on the Start button or press the Windows keyboard.

    2. in the search box, type Services and then click on the Services element that appears at the top.

    3. expand the Services window and then scroll down to Windows Installer.

    4. right click on the Windows Installer list item and then click on stop, right click again and then click Start.

    Step 2: Unregister and re-register Windows Installer.

    To do this, follow these steps:
    1. click on start and then click Run.
    2. in the Open box, type msiexec /unreg and then press ENTER.
    3. click on start and then click Run.

    NOTE: you must log in using the administrator account and try to install it like that. Or you can also try running the program by right clicking and select "run as Administrator". It should work.

    Step 4: Utility Windows Install CleanUp:

    Windows Installer CleanUp Utility may be able to help. You can use the utility to remove installation information for programs that were installed by using Windows Installer. Remember that Windows Installer CleanUp Utility does not remove the actual program from your computer.     I am trying to install a program that uses msiexec.exe on Windows 7 Ultimate, but whenever it gets to a certain point in the installation it stops and comes with a dialog indicating that Windows install stopped working. I got the error message I get.

  • update failed error 80070643 and Setup stops working failed failing msiexec.exe application module msi.dll

    I am running windows 7 Home premium.  The first error was a failure to update office 2007.  several attempts to solve the problem highlighted windows install stopped working.  I was in the service and verified that it was automatic and started, but nothing will be installed using msi.  Here is the log of one of the failures.

    Mshta.exe is listed in the task manager at least 14 times. I close them and they come back. Anyone know what it is, or why its running so many times, and what I can do about it? thanx

    I had a similar on my wifes computer problem after an ifestation Trojan horse got into his system.

    I am running xp home with service pack 3.

    I put end to the largest part of the instance of mshta.exe in Task Manager so that the repressive would work quite well to fix.

    I did a search for the mshta. * which yealded multiple copies, some with version behind numbers. I deleted all but one of:

    c:\windows\system32\mshta.exe

    c:\windows\servicepackfiles\i386\mshta.exe

    The in the folder system32 was 45 k and the one in the service pack files was 29 k I went in the Service Pack folder and copied mshta.exe.

    Then I put end to all instances of mshta.exe in the Task Manager.

    Then I went in the system32 folder and pasted the file by replacing the infected file. So far, everything is ok. If I have problems I have reload service pack 3.

    I can't start my Windows Vista, even after several repair system. Now, I'm in safe mode and noticed to Bishop of the task that there are several svchost.exe running. This could be the culprit?     MsiExec.exe is the Windows Installer, but it could have been infected by malicious software.

    Doing a thorough and redundant check like no program can catch or remove all malware.

    You can also install the latest version of the installer, once you are sure that the machine is really clean.

  • MsiExec.exe removed. URGENT

    Hello. Merry Christmas to all!

    I have windows 7 Home Premium and I just remove msiexec.exe from my computer (HP ProBook 4530 s 64 bit) because my antivirus told me it was a super virus.
    Given that I have remove this file, I can't install or put any program.
    I tried everything, I have download msiexec.exe from another page and nothing works.
    I do not speak English, sorry for gramma mistakes.

    Please, if anyone can help me... I will be grateful.

    Click Start
    Type: CMD, according to the results, right-click CMD
    Click on "Run as Administrator"

    Step 1: empty user and system 'temp' folders.

    Step 2: Utility Windows Install Cleanup
    Click here to download and install the Windows Installer Cleanup utility. However, if you encounter a problem with Windows Installer, you may not be able to run this utility.

    Find the entry for the program, RTUadmin you try to install it and remove it.  You can use the utility to remove installation information for programs that were installed by using Windows Installer. Remember that Windows Installer CleanUp Utility does not remove the actual program from your computer. However, it will remove the installation files so that you can start the installation, upgrade, or uninstall on.

    Step 3: check if there waiting for installation/s in the registry.
     
     
    Warning: You should only edit these registry entries if you really know what you're doing. Back up your hard drive first.
    NOTE: Change the settings of the REGISTRY can cause serious problems that may prevent your computer from starting properly. Microsoft cannot guarantee that problems resulting from the REGISTRY settings configuration can be solved. Changes to these settings are at your own risk.

    Go to the Start button and in the search box, type Regedit.

    a. the empty registry key "InProgress".
     
    Highlight, then check the following registry key:

    HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Installer\InProgress

    and clean all the entries that you find.
     
    b. empty/rename "PendingFileRenameOperations" registry key:
     
    Highlight, then check the following registry key:

    HKLM\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Session Manager\PendingFileRenameOperations

    and clean all the entries that you find.
     
    Then try again and see if you can download your software, RTUadmin.
