multiple inboxes in Thunderbird

I just upgraded my office from 32 to 64-bit windows 7. I downloaded the latest version of Thunderbird and the fact that I have done many times before to copy all my TB data to the new profile.
Everything seemed OK, until I tried to click on a hyperlink. My browser (chrome) simply does not open.
I worked my way through ALL of the steps using TB to try to solve this problem, and, finally, only after I had created a new profile could I get a link to work.
I have set up several accounts I followed but now I find that I have an Inbox associated with each account rather than a single consolidated entry.
How can I get all the inboxes to combine into one?

Looks like you had originally set up all your e-mail Pop accounts to use a global Inbox.

see info:

  • Switch mode 'offline' to stop downloading etc.
  • Create folders in the local folders and put all your emails in these folders for organization.

Then change the Inbox for each account:

  • Tools > account settings > server for the e-mail account settings
  • Click on the button "Advanced".
  • Select: "Inbox for the account of different" and "global Inbox (local folders).
  • Select 'Include this server when getting new messages'
  • Click OK

You will be asked to check the settings for other folders and filters.
Repeat for the other pop e-mail accounts
Click OK to save and close the account settings.

Close thunderbird and wait a few minutes then for the backgroud process finish.
Restart Thunderbird.
It should restart in online mode.
Emails should now be downloaded local folders Inbox.
All pop e-mail accounts must disappear from view of the folders pane.

  • Since I have configured my Nexus 7 I receive email on this subject, but not in my Inbox in Thunderbird on my desktop PC. Why is this?

I have a Nexus 7 run Android version 4.4.2. I get emails from my account gmail on it without problem, but they do not come in my Inbox in Thunderbird on the desktop PC more and I would that they. I don't have the mind to read emails on the Tablet, but I would say rather desktop, because I can actually type and the keyboard of the Tablet is a pain.

If you want to access your account from multiple devices I use IMAP on all of them. That's what this Protocol was developed for.

  • Question about multiple instances of Thunderbird running at the same time

I read that when you start Thunderbird by clicking on its icon or the shortcut must only load once, even if you click on it several times. It should be just a window of TB. If I click on the shortcut/TB desktop icon, it behaves like that. I can click several times and that a single TB window will open and be active.

However, if I run the 'quick launch' TB on my windows 8.1 (or no matter what windows) taskbar, I get mulitple TB windows to open, as much as I want. So if I click on TB icon in the quick launch once, I get a single instance of it. Twice, I get two, and etc. In the quick launch any program behaves like that. He starts programs with a single click and launch again and again.

Only, I click it once and get an instance which is good and how it should be. But this behavior with the quick launch is ok? It must do this not with Thunderbird? Thank you.

There is usually no advantage by running multiple instances of Thunderbird, unless specifically do you these race with different profiles. In practice, if they are allowed to use the same profile, the first Thunderbird should should acquire the profile and therefore block the others, although this may not become apparent until you try to salvage something, for example, a message, or to change certain settings.

Your multiple Thunderbird work successfully? They all show the same mixture of accounts, folders and address books? Can all or part of them save and make changes?

If this is the expected behavior, (i.e. some "typical" windows) I do not like; He does not play well with profile blocking and I think that lead to problems.

  • How to create a global inbox for Thunderbird on Windows 10?

I just installed Windows 10 and Firefox/Thunderbird. On my old system (Windows 7 and Windows Live Mail), I had four e-mail addresses: one is [email protected] and three with [email protected]. Windows Live Mail combined of incoming emails to all four addresses in a combined Inbox. In you bird, can I combine all the incoming mail to these four addresses in a single mailbox in you bird? How?

For a true global Inbox, you must configure all your accounts to use a POP connection, and in each account, there is a setting to use the global Inbox under local folders. This setting is not available for accounts using IMAP.

An alternative that can work for you is to simply switch to the view | Records | Unified. It doesn't care if you use POP or IMAP.

But view | Records | Unread works very well for me. He maintains the separate accounts but collects all new unread messages.

  • How can I increase the size of my Inbox (Mozilla Thunderbird)?

I get the following: "the Inbox is full and cannot hold messages more. To make room for more messages, delete any old or unwanted mail and compact the folder. »

I followed the thread on the forum, but still have no answer. I want to just increase the size of the Inbox on my desk. This should be simple!

    Help, please.

    No, it's not simple.
Create another folder, move some mail on it and make room and compact in the file menu that Thunderbird always has a 4 GB limit on mail to be held in a local folder. IMAP account apparently can be greater. POP cannot.

  • Multiple profiles can be addressed by running multiple installations of Thunderbird; rather than put several profiles on a plant?

Please don't laugh, but I'm running three quite separate mail programs Eudora on a PC; each one with a different email address. I have three icons, and emails are completely separate. I'm just trying to determine if I can do the same with Thunderbird. I know that you can configure multiple messages in a single installation, and then switch back within this facility. But I'm trying to see if I can keep doing what I'm doing now. I know that I have to open a new Eudora program for each email address, but I'm OK with that. Any thoughts?

Eudora becomes old and unstable, so I would go if I can.

    Thank you very much.

Although I don't really no why you must run multiple instances of tuberculosis, especially since the TB program folder and the profiles folder are separated, to do so are described here:

  • How can I delete messages in my Inbox in thunderbird?

New to Thunderbird. I have 200 + messages in my Inbox and cannot find anywhere no deleting individual messages icon. Where is he?

You can add a delete button to the e-mail toolbar to right-click and select Customize. Find the button Delete in the window that opens and then drag it to the toolbar.
You can also activate the message pane by pressing F8 and use the button remove the header of the Message pane.

  • I lost three years of emails in my Inbox in Thunderbird. They can be recovered?

All e-mails from the Inbox of December 5, 2013-3 August 2016 have disappeared from my Inbox. I deleted not consciously their. I found a copy deleted from the Inbox in my recycle bin date August 10, 2016 (840 MB) which is bigger that my inbox today (352 MB) so I hope this can help in the recovery. I also have an old copy of my index file global-messages - db.sqlite of August 11 (116 MB), when I noticed the problem and rebuilt the index (now 60 MB). To retrieve any help would be great thanks!

It's curious. The presence of your old file from the Inbox in the folder Recycled suggests something that's happened at the file system level. Thunderbird would have put it in its own folder Trash .

In your file manager, you could simply copy the file to the Inbox (maybe you should rename everything first) of your recycled in the local files folder. Then, it and its content must appear in Thunderbird.

Please consider filing your messages. Statistically, the Inbox is suffering more corruption than other less frequently used folders. IMHO, it is not safe or suitable for storage in the long term.

Every new message that arrives has to be appended to your big single Inbox file and its Inbox.msf index file rewritten. It's a lot of data unnecessarily. Except, perhaps, you use the experimental maildir format.

  • How can I prevent messages that Yahoo has correctly identified as spam to appear in my inbox in Thunderbird?

I use subfolders in Yahoo, but Thunderbird is pulling for new messages at the same time the subfolders and the spam folder.

My guess is by using your e-mail POP instead of IMAP. See https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/glossary-terms-including-types-accounts?redirectlocale=en-US & redirectslug = Types-of-Accounts #w_mail-accounts

  • Why hundreds of messages have today disappeared from my Thunderbird Inbox and sent folder? Due to problems with Yahoo.

Having had a few problems of the internet on my laptop these days, I just noticed that chunks of my Inbox reception Thunderbird & sent records have remained. Both seem to have exactly 200 messages left. Curiously, some of them reappear, but there are still 200 total remaining. My "activity manager" shows that, at least 4 times in the last hour, pieces of 200 messages have been deleted. However, it shows as 200 messages have been downloaded. This introduced the Inbox a little more up-to-date (in early April), but still leaves gaps for the previous and most recent messages. The total number of messages in my Inbox was less than 1000, I don't think it's a capacity problem. Any ideas?

Re: I need to download sent Messages Inbox not only.
E-mail accounts IMAP see a remote view of the files on the server.
You subscribe to view these folders in Thunderbird.
You synchronize directories subscribed for a copy in Thunderbird.
What you do in a folder for example imap: delete, will occur on the server, so viewing via webmail or Thunderbird folders appear identical.

However, in your case, it seems that you have created a POP e-mail account.
E-mail POP accounts can only connect to Inbox server and download server Inbox for the Thunderbird Inbox pop e-mail account.
It's not a quirk of Thunderbird; This is how all Pop mail represents the work.

There is a work around to get "sent" in the folder mail sent from server in Thunderbird. You just do it once, because when you send it through Thunderbird, it will put the e-mails in the folder sent TB pop mail account and not on the server.

Thunderbird creates a "Sent" folder when first send you an email.
So, if you have not yet sent an email, please send one, even if only to yourself.

Then, move all inbox emails in the appropriate folders.
You can create new folders to organize them.

How to create a new folder:

    • Right-click on the name of the e-mail account, and then select "new folder."
    • Give an appropriate file name and click "create a folder".

    When the Inbox is empty:

    • Logon to the Web e-mail account by using a browser.
    • Move all emails "Sent" in the "Inbox".

    In thunderbird:

    • Click on 'Get the message'

all the "Sent" emails must get downloaded from the server Inbox anto your Inbox in Thunderbird.

    • Then move all your emails in the 'Sent' Thunderbird folder.

You should now have all these emails downloaded from the server and display in Thunderbird.

  • Thunderbird Inbox date of 1 addresses incorrect display. This can be corrected?

I have a person whose e-mail address is plus.com where the date displayed in the Inbox of Thunderbird is still wrong. correct date: 09/04/14 is displayed as 01-08-06.

I checked in Windows Mail and Gmail where the date is displayed correctly.

Thanks for the information I requested.

After reviewing, I see the Date: header is the one with the wrong date: Date: Tuesday August 1st, 2006 06:03:52 + 0100. It is usually sent to the system time. All other date headers (envoys:, :) received are correct and match servers to send/receive.)

I suspect that your friend date / time may be incorrect. Can you ask them to double check?

It seems also Thunderbird displays or uses this date when it displays a message.

You can change it to view > sort by > Order Received and also add a new column in the messages pane, as shown in the attached screenshot.

Perhaps the IMAP received date could also help to work around this problem, if the date of such receipt displayed in the columns of the message pane turns out to be incorrect.

As usual, before going further and try what it is, Please make a backup of your profile. Is that what I mentioned a backup would be ideal? Oh and Please make a backup of your profile.

  • Download - Inbox stopped

3 days ago my email address "in the area stopped. popa3. No emails.

When people send me email it bounces...
    my address is: risa@sailing-ships.net

run the operating system Ubuntu 14.04 and Thunderbird 38.2.0

    I hope someone can help...

Re:when people send an e-mail to me it bounces

Emails sent to your email address do not get through, and the sender receives a response Mailor Daemon bounce back.
So, you are not even receive emails on your webmail account.
Thunderbird cannot download something that does not exist.

You mention that you use pop.
It is usual for e-mail accounts pop to download from server Inbox mail account Inbox in thunderbird and then delete the e-mail on the server.
However, there is a setting in Thunderbird account settings > server settings to "leave messages on server".
I guess it's how you put it in place.

This means that there could be a load of emails in the Inbox on the server and you have exhausted your quota server, so may not receive all mail more.

Suggest that you log in to your webmail account and delete the emails.
Check all the other folders on the server as 'Spam' and empty that as well.

Thunderbird is the only place where you have emails stored, please remember to create a backup of your profile folder.

  • I started having a * before the amount of email in some of my inboxes

I started having a * before the number of emails not open in some of my inboxes in thunderbird. It isn't really a problem in itself, do not understand why it is in some and not others.

She says that some of the messages being counted may be inside subfolders. It is an indication to the user that it may need to look beyond the obvious of messages Inbox.

I use view | Records | Unread, so I care where are hide unread messages.

  • Juno email, Thunderbird does not migrate my files.

The Inbox migrated very well and I'm getting new email fine. But the other folders that I created are not there. (Other folders appear in G-mail, but not in my email of Juno). BTW, I'm new to Thunderbird; very nice to have all of my emails in one place.

Depends on the TYpe of server.

If the IMAP, you can select to view a remote view of any subscribed folder that appears on the server.

If POP and pop can only access and download from the Inbox of the mail pop server account Inbox in Thunderbird.
It's not a quirk of thunderbird, it's how all pop e-mail accounts work.

There is a solution to get the mail folders on the server end.

    create folders in thunderbird.
Move all the emails from the Inbox to other folders, remove what you don't want and then compact the Inbox.

When it is empty, connect to the Web e-mail account via a browser.
Move the emails of one of your folders in Inbox.

in Thunderbird, click on 'Get the Messages' to download your emails.
Move emails in the appropriate folder.

Repeat to get emails from other folders.
Once that everything is downloaded, make a backup, because this will be your only copy.
all new messages that goes to the Inbox server, then will be downloaded as usual.

An alternative would be to create a new term of IMAP mail and sign up to see the folder.
