Music library has emptied

My library of music on my PC (content downloaded CDs and downloaded items from the store) seems empty.  I tried to download files from an application when it happened. Is it possible to sync with my iPod that gets the music between iPod and computer?

First of all, you should check your drive for multimedia files to your iTunes.  You can get an 'empty' iTunes library, if the file to iTunes (which is usually called iTunes Library.itl) library database is corrupted.  The iTunes Library file keeps track of your songs and where their music files are stored on your drive.  If this file is corrupted, iTunes starts with a brand new iTunes library file, which is empty.

However, your media files real iTunes can still be stored on your disk and perfectly fine.  The default location for the iTunes Media folder (unless you change it) is in the folder music of your user folder, in the subfolder iTunes , as described here

Manage and backup your iTunes media library - Apple Support

For Windows 8, it should be something like \Users\username\Music\iTunes\iTunes Media.  Check this folder to see if your songs and other media files to iTunes are there.  They are organized in subfolders by media type, artist, and album.  If you find them, you can add them to your current empty iTunes library.  No need to unload files of songs from iPod.

NOTE: If you find your iTunes media files AND if you do regular backups of your data (including your iTunes data) user, please post back.  You may be able to restore your file iTunes Library.itl since your last backup.  Depending on how old your backup, it's perhaps best to add your media files to a new iTunes library (because recover you data in support, such as reading lists, notes, play counts, data added, etc.).

Otherwise you pouvez transfer song from iPod to computer files.  But not using iTunes (with the exception of songs purchased on iTunes Store).  By design, iTunes sync is generally in one direction, from iTunes to iPod library.  However, there are methods and third party utilities that can transfer from iPod to computer.  If you do an Internet search on something like 'ipod music transfer', you should get a few useful links, including a CNET article on the subject.

Also, songs (and other media) purchased from the iTunes Store can be downloaded again without charge

  • Windows 8 music app has empty library

My music is stored on my hard drive for storage in the computer (D:\Media\Music). Windows 8 Pro is installed until my SSD (c).

The view of the office, I went to the library 'Music', the button clicked on «Manage Library» I removed the two default folders and added my D:\Media\Music folder.
Given that my music collection is a mixture of files MP3, Ogg and FLAC I installed WMP Tag Plus.
Windows Media Player for the opening of the office shows that my entire library, as well as the Ogg files and Flac are properly listed and playing very well.
If I go to the music app Windows 8 (metro app, which is the new name?), he said: "it's lonely here ' to the 'my music' section and the library is empty."
I could wait for the marks of a closed environment it is impossible to play Ogg and Flac files, but also ordinary MP3 files (and even some WMA files) are not at all, while Windows Media Player from the desktop them clearly lists in the music library.
So, how can I get my library is displayed in the metro music app? As I said, I added my folder (LOCAL!) in the music library of the desktop mode.
Secondary question: is it possible (and Yes, how) to play Ogg files and FLAC for the metro app?

I understand that this is an old question, but I hope that my solution helps someone.

As the user who posted the question, I have my music collection stored on another partition of a hard disk. It's convenient, because I do not lose my files when I reformat/reinstall operating system.

So, I did the following and the music app as magically began to recognize my music.

Right click on D:\Music (in my case), went to properties.
On the first tab, I clicked on the button Advanced attributes. On the pop-up dialog box, I checked
"Allow files in this folder to have content in addition to the properties indexed".

    That's all.

Original title: problems after a system restore

Not just a system restore last night (Windows 7 OS).  And now the various little things do not work quite as it should.  For example, my windows media player said now that there is no element in the music library.  He shows me how to include files in my library, but when I do this (and my old files are still there in my music) nothing happens.

Similarly, my favorites of the Explorer tab was empty.  I restored an older version, but the bookmarks that were under folders still will not appear in the favorties tab, even if I can see them when I look at the old version, I used to restore.

    Hello

-For what reason were you running system restore?

-What version of Internet Explorer is installed on the computer?

I would suggest trying the following steps and check if it helps.

Method 1: Launch Windows media player troubleshooting library and check.

Open the troubleshooter in the Windows Media Player library

  • I have a music library of about 7.6 GB.  I have an old nano iPod which has a capacity of 8.0 GB. When I try to sync my library on the nano it accepts only about 1.68 GB.  How can I fix?

I have a library of about 7.8 GB of songs iTunes music.  I have an iPod nano to 8.0 GB.  When I try to sync my music on the iPod the IPod does accept that about 1.68 GB.  I tried to restore and re-synchronization-the same results.

Are all your songs stored locallyin your computer's iTunes library?  iTunes cannot sync the songs that are accessed by streaming from Apple servers ("iCloud").  To check, find a song that does not sync your iPod to your iTunes library.  Do a right click and get information.  On the tab of the file Info window, browse to the location.  This site shows a path of the file to the location the file of that song on your drive, or should I say iCloud?  Expressed the iCloud, download it.

If this is the General reason why much of the music library will not sync to the iPod, you can select the pieces all affected at the same time, right-click on the selection and download.  Once all the music files are stored locally, they sync to iPod.

If this is not the cause of your problem, thanks for posting back with all additional details, such as any error message that appears when you attempt to sync.

  • Music library folder loses its display column settings

    Hello!

It's strange and I thought about my question, in case anyone else has seen this behavior and maybe give me the solution.

    Windows 7 Home Premium 32 bit SP1.

    Windows Explorer.

I opened on the left of the Navigation pane.

I'm going under libraries, where I have my music library and click on it.

On the right, I have configured a Details view, with the columns set to display:

    Name, contributing artists, length.

By right-clicking an empty space on the right and choosing Properties-> Customize. I have:

    Optimize this folder for:

    Music

And also checked the: this model also apply to all subfolders.

Now the problem is the following:

Everything seems useful as I'd like. But then, after a few closed and the openings of Windows Explorer, the columns of this music library folder are lost.

And it shows the value by default, or maybe some old personal settings of these columns:

Name, the artist of the Album.

Thus, artists to contribute and the length are gone.

Do you know what is causing this weird behavior? I want to maintain my initial columns:

    Name, contributing artists, length.

Or, for that matter, whatever the columns, I chose.

  • Music library Apple messed up my songs

Hello. I hardly ever have anything to complain about Apple's music, but today I noticed something really weird. I got about 60 GB of songs in my computer when I signed firstly for the Apple's music and has my synchronized library. Well, it happened last year and since then I had no problems with it.

But I just did a clean install of El Capitan on my macbook and so lost all the file of songs I had stored. 'No problem', I have thought, "they are still all in my music library apple, as long as I have access to the internet, I can listen to all". It so happened I had some songs very special and unique, like an instrumental version of sadness Summertime Lana Del Rey. Boy was I surprised when I tried to play and played the version of iTunes is in fact identical to the album version.

So I ask you, Apple: where is my instrumental song by Lana Del Rey? If it's in the cloud, how can I listen to it?

So I went and looked for other similar songs, and they are all screwed up. My set of The Killers live album is not powered, each song is the version of the album, even with the (live) song in it.

I can't help thinking that apple music spread a kind of false when propaganda advertising that we were able to listen to our songs from any device. It turns out that this is not always the case. I ask you once again: where are my files of original songs? How can I listen to them?

    I expect an honest answer.

    Hello

Inadequacy of live versions of studio music is a common problem. http://www.mcelhearn.com/apple-music-matches-files-with-metadata-only-not-acoust ic-fingerprints /

In any case, the music you download from Apple will have music DRM and you will only be able to play them as long as you subscribe to the Apple's music.

Your solution is to restore your original music of your back ups

  • Music library playing a song wrong to iCloud

I just noticed a strange bug in my iTunes music library to play the wrong version of one of my songs.  Here's the scoop:

I have the album of Pink Floyd The Wall on my main library that is local to one of my computers.  Because I have iCloud music enabled, which allows my other computers listen to the songs I have in my main library, I am able to listen to The Wall of another Mac.  However, it's playing the wrong version of "Another Brick In The Wall (part 2)," which, on my computer which is streaming the track plays the live version of the track (which I believe is from the album Pulse, which is a horrible post-Roger Waters album).

In my main music library, which has the original album that I've scanned there nearly 20 years, the length of the track is 04:01. However, when I listen to the song with another Mac, who plays bad live version, the length of the track is 07:07.  Now, if the runtime is the same, then I would chalk up a simple glitch where the Apple servers has confused, in the course of the same artist, even followed by name, same DURATION... but since it's a completely different album and different runtime... real head scratcher for me there.

Just wanted to put this out there and see if anyone else has had this happens, and if there is some sort of fix.  I have not spent a lot of time to my music from my other computers, so I don't know if it's just an a stop or a bug that assail you my library continuously.

    Hello
