  Last Friday, 06/03/15, Microsoft spent 3 hours to solve the problems I've had with updates do not. Yesterday, Monday, I noticed my light button mute does not. I guess it's something they've done. I'm not going to do a system restore, because there were 35 updates that were required to apply, and I can't cancel their.

  I have HP DV6-1244tx. I bought the laptop 1 month back with operating system like Windows Vista and registered to upgrade to Windows 7. On the upgrade to WIndows 7, my volume muted light is still red and does not work. Although I can deactivate / reactivate the sound volume using the volume but not however Mute Volume on the Panel

  Hey so been having this problem with my light on the button mute. It does not turn off. I checked to see if the volume works and it makes. Mute works but the light just stays on. Help!

  Try the following.

  Download Realtek HD Audio Installer on the link below and save it in your downloads folder.

  When finished, press and hold the Windows key and press R

  In the run window, type devmgmt.msc and press to enter.

  In Device Manager, expand sound, video and game controllers.  Right click on the Realtek device and select uninstall - also, you should get a command prompt to delete the current driver, check the box allow this and then proceed to uninstall.

  When you are finished, download and reinstall the Chipset driver at the following link.

  When the reinstallation of Chipset is finished, stop the laptop.

  Disconnect the power adapter and remove the battery.  Press and hold the Power button for 30 seconds.  Reinsert the battery and plug in the AC adapter.

  Robinet tap away at the key esc that you start the computer to launch the Start Menu, and then select f10 to open the bios menu.  Press f9 to load the default values (sometimes it is f5, but the menu below indicates the correct key), use the arrow keys to select 'Yes' and press ENTER.  Press f10 to save the setting and still use the arrow keys to select 'Yes' and press on enter.

  When windows has reloaded, open your download folder, right click on the installer of Realtek and select "Run as Administrator" to launch the installation.  Once this done, reboot the laptop and let windows load completely for a few minutes before checking.

  The muting of the keyboard light is turn on is when I cut it. I tried to reboot several times. Wish it would work.

  If your laptop came pre-installed with Windows 10?  You can try to run the Microsoft push Resetto reinstall the operating system.

• Audio driver help - mute light does not

  Hi, I have "improved" Windows 8 for Windows 7 & settled most of the problems driver through message history in the HP support forum.

  My problem is that the mute button for audio works but the light behind the button does nothing. The audio itself works very well.

  When I look at system devices, everything looks ok - no question or an exclamation mark etc.

  The led of the button mute on my HP Pavilion 15p189na does not work. I use Windows 10 64-bit operating system.

  This light was absoloutely work very well, but one day it suddenly stopped working. Good news is that mute the button still works fine but the dead ID light.

  If you click Start and right click on my computer go to, and then click Properties. Click on hardware then Device Manager. In the list, you will see the audio, video and game controllers. Expand this menu by clicking the sign +. You will see the name and the audio device. Click on that and then uninstall it. Close the page and restart the system. Windows will automatically reload the audio and should correct the problem. If it persists it could be a bug in your system in which case I would suggest a program of detection of virus running. The link below is a very good program to do just that.

  Shut down the PC, remove the AC adapter and then remove the battery.  Now, hold the power button down for a good 30 seconds.  Replace the battery, connect the power adapter and start the PC.

  My computer has downloaded a bunch of system updates last night, and now the mte light will not turn off.  It still works without problems (shooting sound power), but the light remains on without worrying.  I have Windows 8 or 8.1 do not know what the difference is.

• Studio XPS 1640 does not start. No bios, no control of fan. Volume + / illuminate, flashes of silent light...

  I have a Studio XPS 1640 (model PP35L) that will not start. Fires along the sound card light upward from left to right and back (as it should), but then stops. Them increase volume and low lights stay and the mute light flashes.

  The cooling fan is not test, or do anything else. Nothing on the screen or the other.

  I have re-seated ram to check it was OK

  A Google search is supposed to replace the motherboard. I did this and the problem persists.

  Thanks for the reply! The problem was a crooked PIN. Once I straightened the PIN and reused thermal paste the laptop worked perfectly. I don't know if I did it, but I didn't have the old motherboard to see.

  Try a hard reset, works sometimes. Disconnect all external devices first.

  Download IDT Audio Installer on the link below and save it in your downloads folder.

  One time finished, open windows control panel, open Device Manager and open sound, video and game controllers.  Right click on the IDT device and select uninstall - also, you should get a command prompt to delete the current driver, check the box allow this and then proceed to uninstall.

  When finished, restart the computer and let Windows load completely.  Open your download folder, right-click on the IDT Installer and select "Run as Administrator" to launch the installation.  When this has completed, restart the computer again before checking if the 'secret' led functions correctly.
