  Has anyone got anything else than 2 channels of audio over HDMI on the Elitebook 8530p? I tried different drivers directly from ATI and HP. I tested it on Windows XP x 86 and x 64 Win7. Windows always lists the configuration of stereo audio channels 2 channels. Is this a limitation of the hardware?

  I guess that it is the same thing as my Macbook Pro, where I did just that - if you plug the cable into the headphone jack, it should work without needing to select the output in the Prefs. If you check with a helmet, you must confirm this. Having a video output running will not affect this.

• No Sound / Audio via HDMI with Satellite P840T

  I connected my Satellite P840T on my TV via HDMI Panasoni. Video works fine but no sound. The same cable and TV work fine with my laptop Del.

  I have read the forums, and we're talking about going into control panel > Sound > reading tab and selecting device HD Audio for playback, but on my P840T, IT IS No. HD Audio device for the indicated reading.

  I right click and checked the boxes to see the disabled and features show disconnected, but still nothing.
  I have download the latest drivers for the OEM Toshiba Intel HD4000 version show that the P840T seems to have, but still nothing. (The Audio drivers for the HDMI port part of the display driver right?)

  What else can I try other than to wait for the next version of the OEM Toshiba display Intel HD4000 version?

  .. and what audio playback devices are available next to the speakers?
  In my case it is not peripheral HD audio but the Digital Audio sound called.

  By the way: what system are you using? Have you installed the new Windows or do you use the preinstalled Toshiba system?

• Cannot get DTS/multi channel audio via HDMI

  I'm trying to connect my VAIO SVT15112CXS to my Bravia HDTV via HDMI to get multi-channel audio (DTS/DD) from my Bravia HT (connected to the TV via optical) with no luck at all.

  I have the same setup for PS3 works well, is it cable or equipment.

  I have already updated all the drivers.

  When the TV is not connected I don't get an Audio HDMI option in the playback devices (I checked to show disconnected devices / disabled) and when it is connected I do not get an option to change the configuration of stereo speaker.

  This way I get only Stereo sound.

  I tried passthough HDMI via ffdshow config (installed K-Lite codec pack) and there is no sound in this way.

  Is there a solution? something escapes me?

  I got it actually work! updated drivers audio and video (not Sony ones sugested, but later of Intel and Realtek) and now I have everything works as it should.

  The only minor problem is that Vaio Care now wants me to go back to the previous version of the driver, but I'll just ignore it.

  Everyone, try this if you experience this problem.

• No Audio output HDMI signal

  I am running Windows Vista SP1 on a laptop HP Pavilion.  I would like to use a TV high definition as an external display for slideshows read and other audi/visual media on the mobile phone.

  I connected the laptop and the TV via their HDMI ports with a HDMI cable and I get a very good quality image on the TV, but no sound.

  I used all the options on the TV for audio and everything seems OK.  So, I suspect that the problem is at the end of the computer.  Does anyone have suggestions for how I might solve the problem?

I went to SmartAudio settings in the Control Panel, but there is no option of separates HDMI audio to the speakers only.

  in win 7 do a right-click on the speakers on your lower right corner icon, select playback devices, click on speakers, click on set default, click OK and it should work (sound must come from your computer speakers or the computer 3, 5mm jack)

  Looking for someone with a Dell U2414H and perhaps even a PS4 (or any HDMI device) to confirm something for me. I find in myself a get for use with a PS4 but have heard conflicting reports on the audio output on the U2414H port. I wanted to plug PS4 via HDMI to the U2414H and then plug a pair of speakers to the audio output. However, I said the only outputs audio output audio port provided to the monitor via the USB, sounds strange to me, but I wasn't able to find anywhere to confirm that it generates the audio from the HDMI ports too.   Sorry, I meant to come back here and update this. I had someone else confirms to me away so went ahead and bought one. I can certainly confirm that some audio goes in making hdmi port goes out the audio 3.5 mm on the monitor port. PS3 well at least that's all, I used with it.

When I bought my computer laptop, everything worked fine on a year ago sound through HDMI has stopped working. I put the output SPDIF sound as I always did in the past. I have updated my vidio of Nvidia drivers and cannot find archived former drivers for restore. The current driver that I have dated 01/30/09. It is the Nvidia Geforce Go 7600. I've also recently updated my laptop with a clean install of Windows 7 32 bit Ultimate from Vista 64 bit Ultimate. I made this not knowing that there were not any drivers that support Windows 7 for my laptop HP but nevertheless I like working with 7 much better. Anyone else with this problem and maybe a solution?   1. What version of Windows are you using?
  2. What do you see under sound, video and game controllers?

  You can try the above steps through the steps below.

  Method 1

  1. press on Windows Logo key + X. Click on Device Manager.

  2. search for the sound, video and game controllers.

  3. under it, you will find high definition Audio Device.

  4 right-click on it, you will see turn off the option.

  5. click on disable.

  5. again right click on high definition Audio Device to activate.

  Method 2

  1. Press on Windows Logo key + X.  Click on Control Panel.
  2. Click hardware and sound.
  3. Double click on sound.
  4. Under the playback tab, you should see your HDMI device.
  5. Right-click on it and select set as default device.
  6. Click Ok.

• Switching audio when HDMI display

  I created my desk with a monitor on my desk and my TV next to the office. The TV is always plugged into my graphics card via HDMI with the monitor via DVI and one is selected or in use at a time. Is there a way to change my sound settings so that the sound is displayed when I pass too?

  I suggest you to make sure that the default audio device is set as the Digital Audio (HDMI). And then try to go to control and check if the sound is working automatically.

  To set the HDMI as default audio device follow these steps.

  a. right click on the Start button and click on Panel.

  b. type Sound in the Search box and click on sound.

  c. click on the reading tab.

  d. right-click on The Digital Audio (HDMI) , and then select set as default device.

  e. click apply and then click Ok.
