  Hi, I'm new to these two forums and blackberry in general so I cry for a little help from someone who is a little more advanced than me!

  I recently bought a Blackberry Curve 9360 and have since put it up to my tastes - well.

  But recently, I've changed the sound profile to silent, I was in a meeting and now the blackberry won't let me open the profiles option at all (by that I mean real option in the main menu which allows you to select which sound profile to use [the option 'Sound and alert profiles']) and nor it will allow me to open it by clicking on the small speaker located on the search bar.

  A friend showed me how to use "keep it Q" to change it, but every time I do this, it changes from Silent on vibrate only and nothing else...

  So I was wondering if someone could help me out and explain how this menu option to get back so I can put the unit on the "Normal" profile (or there may be another shortcut to do?) or maybe an explanation as to why he stopped me to enter all of a sudden - the blackberry is less than a week!

  It has a help page which States that the preferred format is HTML 5 so I don't see what can be the problem. I saw an old post that Perian can cause this problem, so I removed Perian and still no love.

  Even with me in Safari, Firefox, but still works.  I installed the latest Flash from Adobe, but got the same results; Safari-Firefox YES.  Apple, we need a fix.

  Well, you don't tell me the model of your machine, I think that it doesn't have an optical disc drive (ODD) is why you should buy an external. No ODD IE.   My Curve 8900 is less than 6 months old, and suddenly the keyboad won't work, so I can't make/receive calls, and although the trackball works, it won't "click" to unlock. Seems to be an intermittent fault. As I have the Blackberry (it is not purchased via a service provider), I tried to contact customer service for Blackberry UK, who seems reluctant to deal with consumers. My service, O2 have been much more useful. How can I get a warranty repair/replacement, or solve the problem?

  Well, after a WEEK, I'm totally furstrated with Blackberry. They have NO customer service in the United Kingdom, and as I have the BB (not through my mobile service provider, with whom I have a single contract SIM) I could get repair/replacement of parts. the only way I knew solving it had to spend many hours in an O2 store in the United Kingdom (my service provider) who finally had sympathy with me and agreed to sent for repair/replecement. I had one today renovated. It seems that this keyboard problem is common - the guy in the O2 shop showed me a way to fix it temporarily, hold down the ALT and right SHIFT buttons and press the DELETE key twice. This gives the BB a battery quick re-difficulty.

  But I (and all of my colleagues (will now go to the iPhones, which are more reliable and they give better customer service.)) SHAME on Blackberry for their shoddy products and the non-existenet customer service.

  Here is what happened, me and my friend got the same phone, I got mine a few months before her though. I noticed that my phone was different to my friends. As my texts have a completely white background, and it shows the texts in a folder, the most recent upward. And show them the text as one... Ping Chat conversation? I asked them how they got their phones like that and they say, Oh, "it was just like that." so I go to text settings and mess around with it for a while. Also that the profile of their bbm surveys Viewer is different to mine, too. And I can't understand it.

  Anyway, this friend, his phone was just like mine. Texts of plain with a white background, my bbm. I was with her all the time. When we come back to his own to start the phone upwards and all that jazz, she gets an update when it it plugged into a laptop (she takes office, his brother had previously downloaded) after updating his phone was like our friends. I thought 'Let me try?' and my phone would not be updated. I went home and looked liked in it. The software of my phone is 4.6.1.314 and I'm guessing that's not the most recent. I noticed the 'Advanced Search - Update Wireless' part, I try. And he says "No update available" so I try by going to the "software updates" on the O2 website, same result. I try the software from office once again, same result.

  Are there really no update for my phone, or I do something wrong? .

  I have recently changed my email address and must so far on my Bold 9900. I go into settings > email accounts and tap / click Internet e-mail account, but it does nothing. I've used this feature to add/modify items of electronic mail. This allows me to click on the account of the company, but when I click on Internet e-mail account, nothing happens.

  Have rebooted device a couple of times and get the same problem. Any ideas?

  Hi, I'm pulling out my hair with this... I have re-negotiated my contract with my carrier recently while I have now finally some BlackBerry bolt - one for internet access unlimited for a reasonable price, but when I opened the browser of the phone, it goes to open a free image page where he invites me to download Yahoo Messenger.  I'm really not this app on the phone, but I downloaded it in any case in the hope that by doing so, I would then be able to use the browser that I have done so on several times before, but no joy... my phone has now a new chic icon on it, but when I open the browser, that it takes me right back to the same page to download Yahoo messenger again. He leads me in the wall! Does anyone have ideas of how I might be able to solve this problem? Any help would be much appreciated!

  (1) start the browser

  (2) menu button, select options

  (3) select the Configuration of the browser

  (4) select all options, with WML and HTML to display images.

  (5) scroll all the way to the address of the home page.

  (6) type the address, of the just put in Google.

  (7) out and save. Then click on the browser's cache.

  (8) delete all categories and ignore the warning message.

  Escape 9) and it will erase the memory, then keep escape until the end.

  (10) to start the browser, which will go to Google, go to your home page.

  11) press the menu key, select set as homepage.

• Icon to download blackBerry Smartphones won't go away

  I have the new Tower model and I have a small icon to download (fill a white, black circle with a white arrow pointing down and to the left and a red star) with a number 1 next to it showing at the top of my home screen.  I checked all my apps and files and I have nothing waiting for download.  I restarted thinking that something I had installed was waiting to restart computer download something else.   I have nothing seems to get this to go away.  Anyone have any ideas?

  In my view, that this icon is for blackberry app world. This means that one of the applications that you downloaded previously has an available update/upgrade. I can't confirm this because I do not use app world, but what I read earlier. Someone confirm it soon enough, I'm sure.

• Account icon Email blackBerry Smartphones won't go away

  I have three e-mail accounts set up on my 8330.  I use is no longer one of them, so I deleted using the e-mail account on the device configuration application, as well as to go online to my BlackBerry Sprint account and delete it.  The icon always appears on my phone and for some reason, is now the default account to send emails.  As the account has, indeed, been deleted, emails don't actually go through this account.  It's a huge pain to keep remembering to change the account that I have send emails since.  On a side note - I also changed my settings to use a different account as my default account - it does make a difference.  The setting is good when I check, but when I test them, the old (deleted) account is always the default.  What Miss me?  How can I get rid of this account once and for all?  I really don't want to wipe my machine and start over...  Thank you in advance for your help!

  Options > Advanced > Service books... find and locate the TWO entries related to this account, one for each [cical] and [cimime].

  I have an indicator at the top of my screen that, no matter what I do won't go away. It resembles an indicator of voicemail, but now I have no voicemail. I tried leaving a message in the voicemail box and then remove it, but that didn't work.

  Exactly the thing that happened to me yesterday and I spent a LOT of time with Verizon Tech Support.  First of all, it IS an icon of the voicemail.  It seems that the problem has something to do with Visual Voicemail, which I had activated/provisioned.  When I got my first voicemail and listened to in Visual Voicemail, I had a devil of a time remove and eventually did, but this icon remained.  What tech support finally did was disable Messaging voice Visual in the network, then sent me a new voicemail that I listened to the way "outdated", then deleted.  When I removed it, the home screen icon finally disappeared.

  Now, I am reluctant to return to Visual voicemail service... and more, I found that having to enter the password for voicemail visual voicemail every time was a pain compared to the fact to be able to set it up in the opening of session of voicemail on the BB.

  Hi guys,.

  Put my 9810 on charge at 16:00 Sam, (batt was @ 40%) that came out tonight here.

  Came back to 19:00 ready to go out, 9810 has been turned off, red light blinking (on 10 seconds, off the coast of 30 secs)

  and the phone will now start not at all!

  Tried all the suggested advice, battery pull, the hard reset, even the trick 4hr 15 min battery charge.

  Swapped batteries with son 9800, (was 100%) still nothing, (my battery worked 100% on son 9800)

  so not the battery problem.

  Have now tried reloading the OS using "application loader" and "BBDM" following the instructions in the two KB10144

  & KB27956. Each time, the process goes smoothly and seems to start the process of reloading, "load JVM and system software" except for the two programs 'hang' to "reconnect to JVM" (to wait for the initialization section of the device) I get a dialog box with

  "Application loader failed to connect with your device. Reconnect your device and try again"

  No matter what I do, I can't get past this point! Battery, or back makes no difference. A point of failure is always the same!

  Now also tried "BBSAK" but this not acknowledge the phone at all, then at least Loader application and BBDM would 'See' the phone when required according to the instruction.

  Did not add anything new to the phone, & last updated was months ago, and nothing has changed for the problem, the only charge battery as I have done thousands of times without any problem...

  Am currently resorting to an old phone without installation of BB and unable to access the backups on phone no BB!

  Desperately need help of any kind. 9810 obviously out of warranty now and it is uncertain whether repairable or not! Really need to get this phone up and run again, or get something better than what I use to present...

  Hi and thanks for the quick response, which confirms what I thought, a little after the attempt thorough I made to correct the problem...

  Have you contacted a company that specilises in BB repairs, (not local, but well recommended) they want £30 ($50) courier phone them for diagnosis, before they will quote price for a repair, depending on what is wrong with it. They also specify that if additional problems were discovered, then the price will change accordingly.

  My personal thought is that the main motherboard is foobard, or the ROM needs flashing, which is a lot of money. (there is really only 2 boards inside them, (if you've never disassembled one, not too bad a job!) more separate commissions, screen/slider and keyboard/trackball)

  As 9800 go around £40 ($70) and 9810 for £50 ($85) it seems to me that it might be false economy, try to get it mended, where I can get another for almost the money of diagnosis.

  Shame, because the phone was great before the 'crash' and maybe good for other parts, screen, case, keyboard, battery, etc.

  Might go this route of buying a 2nd hand unit and sale on spare parts recover some of the money...

  Is there anything common to the most recent BB, as had similar "Crashes" with son 9800 and an another 8900 but these were recovered with OS resets, but never happened with the biggest? models (8310/8700)
